I would like to take this moment to pay my respects to a member of our Aaliyah family. This is Vichet Tran. Or for those of us who browsed the forums from back in the day, we knew him as Chetmasta. He did so much for the Aaliyah community. Creating fan-sites, posting up rare videos. No matter what, if you asked him to share something…he did. He was just a genuinely sweet person. I’m at a loss for words right now…I’m so saddened by the news of his leaving this world behind.

Vichet Tran passed away the morning of February 7, 2013 at the age of 27 after a long battle with cancer. He was born on September 25, 1985 in Austin, Texas and has remained a true Austinite at heart. You could always find Chet singin’ with his headphones on, gettin’ down on the dance floor at his favorite bar, Plush, or stuffing his face with his favorite foods. During his last few months, he was surrounded by loved ones who came to share and cherish all the memories they were blessed to have with him and he was able to spend his final moments with his close family and two best friends. He has gained incredible wisdom and knowledge as if he has lived 100 years and has inspired others with his strength, spirituality and positive outlook on life and also death. You are now at peace, Vich, and you can finally meet your “babygirl”, Aaliyah. [x]

Give her an extra hug for us too. 

Rest In Peace to one of Aaliyah’s Angels who has now finally obtained his wings.

You will not be forgotten.

Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I remember Chetmasta on the forums back when I was in my early teens.  It’s easy to forget that the communities and fandoms you interacted with way back when are made of people with their own lives and passions and hardships. Didn’t even know about his illness, and just, it hurts hearing this. I’m glad he’s at peace, RIP
