its just insane to me that the media is still, 20 years after his death, using him as a focal point of this big conspiracy about what he MIGHT have done while there is a literal rapist in the oval office and not a single person facing reprocussions for what was found in the epstein files.
it's like anytime something good comes out about michael or something bad comes out about another super-rich person, the narrative is redirected and everyone's attention is on how "horrible" he was.
my main counter-argument whenever people question my fandom and idolization of MJ is that he is dead. obviously none of us were there, none of us knew him, and seemingly good people are capable of doing awful things– but he's been dead for 20 years! IF he did commit any sort of atrocities (which i do not believe he did, but for the sake of making a point), there is no punishment more suitable for a pedophile than death. yet for some reason, he has continued to be slandered year after year posthumously while the very much alive monsters that continue to thrive without consequence are all but brushed under the rug.
it really makes you think.
i would also like to make a note of the very likely racial implications of the controversy surrounding michael. a lot of people seem to forget that he was a black man who managed to become the most famous and influential figure in the world. it's not like he broke racial barriers and then everything was rainbows and sunshine– the United States itself was built on a foundation of inequality and constructed to cater to the white man. that doesn't go away.
I think a lot of people did not like what he was able to do and he became a target the moment thriller broke records. There was no other way to tear him down besides creating a monster out of his image.
I could literally go on about this forever... but that's my two cents on that.
