LETS PLAY 20 QUESTIONS! THE NEXT 20 QUESTIONS MY MUSE GETS ON ANON, THEY HAVE TO ANSWER WITH 100% HONESTY!
"Who's that?" She inquired, peeking over his shoulder.
Having been lost in thought, it took Paco a moment to glance up and reply.Ā āOh!ā He held up the photo he was holding.Ā āMy siblings! All seven of them.ā
healingātears:
āOh.ā Her expression mellowed a bit, āIām sure they must miss youā¦ā She mused, keeping her gaze on the photograph.
āHmā¦ā Paco paused, still smiling, but it was a bit of a more bittersweet expression now.Ā āI do hope they miss me. Because I miss them!ā He laughed.Ā āAnd that is what family does when they are apartā they miss each other.ā
Juana flinched and rubbed her forearm. "Must be nice, then..." She spoke softly, still smiling but with a look of sadness in her eyes.
Iād rather bend than break.

"Who's that?" She inquired, peeking over his shoulder.
Having been lost in thought, it took Paco a moment to glance up and reply.Ā āOh!ā He held up the photo he was holding.Ā āMy siblings! All seven of them.ā
balloon-intheclouds:
Francisco laughed. āSĆ! I am the eldest of eight children. We are a large, happy family.ā He smiled softly. āThis was taken on my brotherās eighteenth birthday, shortly before I left home.ā
āOh.ā Her expression mellowed a bit, āIām sure they must miss youā¦ā She mused, keeping her gaze on the photograph.
āIt was just a dream, youāre alright.ā
He wiped the sweat from his face as he tried to pretend he didnāt just choke on a scream. Stupid nightmares.Ā āY-Yeahā¦Donāt worry Iām fine.ā
flames-and-ashes:
āAlexander. Everyone calls me Alex though.ā He smiled, mentally cheering himself on for that save.Ā āBeen here long?ā
āNice to meet you, Alex. Iām Juana.ā She smiled back at him, not realizing his smile wasnāt necessarily for her.
She shook her head. āWell, no; I justāā She drowned and sniffed the air, āIs thatā¦smoke?ā
Oh no--you're hurt...
āI-Iām fineā¦ā
His voice came out a tiny grumble and he glared at the ground, sniffling. Somehow, the boy had managed to scrape up his knees, likely from running about. It hurt, but he was trying his best to not show it.
tinytundratiger:
āWoooowā¦ā Ćrjanās eyes were sparkling, fascinated by what he was learning.Ā āThatās so cool! Iāve never met a mermaid before. Mama never mentioned anything about them. I can transform too! But I become a tiger, not a mermaid.ā
He was so cute, she felt like she was going to melt. She giggled, āIām glad to have that honor, then. Iāve never met a tiger before.ā Well, sheād seen them at some sideshows (of course she wasnāt a patron of those, but another exhibit) though sheād never gotten close to them. They always looked sad and unhealthy, cramped in their tiny cages. Like how they both were as well.
āWhatās your name, little tiger?ā
She gasped lightly, "Youāre an artist."
Roderich, having just finished a song on his violin, turned around with a start, not having noticed anyone approaching. He opened his mouth to talk, but unfortunately his curse was still in affect and would be for another five minutes or so.
So he just smiled, giving a small nod of thanks, hoping his appearance wouldnāt scare her away.Ā
chordsandchaos:
Roderich smiled softly.Ā āIt takes a while to learn to read it, but once you know it, it isnāt so hard.ā He gathered some of the paper together, starting to organize them.Ā āI certainly hope itās lovely. I want people to enjoy it, after all.ā
She laughed lightly, āAt the end of the day, you just want people to appreciate what you play. It just proves that youāre good, even if your appearance might seem intimidating to most.ā
but
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā the truth isĀ Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā thereās nothing Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā special about me
āIt was just a dream, youāre alright.ā
He wiped the sweat from his face as he tried to pretend he didnāt just choke on a scream. Stupid nightmares.Ā āY-Yeahā¦Donāt worry Iām fine.ā
flames-and-ashes:
āI donāt. Ever.ā He sipped the water lightly, trying to get the image of his motherās dead out out of his skull. She blamed him for everything. I was all his fault.Ā āIāll be fine. Really.ā
She merely nodded in response. He was understandably hesitant to open up to someone new. But even if Juana didnāt know him that well, she could clearly see that whatever his nightmare was still bothered him. She had to find a roundabout way to try to tackle it.
āI kind of..wanted to walk around a bit, but I was afraid Iād get in troubleācould you come with me? I mean, if there were two of us, then maybe one of us could sort of act..like a look-out.ā A walk around might clear his head; plus framing it in such a way that she was asking for his help might make him more receptive.
He nodded and got up, stretching.Ā āYeah. A walk sounds nice.ā He could even maybe light something on fire to calm his nerves down. It definitely helped him a great dealā¦Plus he could maybe light something of Viktorās on fire too.
The defiant little glint in his eye totally escaped her notice. Juana had no idea that he was cooking up a plan that could get the both of them in more trouble than she had initially expected.
āRight then.ā She began to walk out of the tent, in no particular direction. It was just so they could clear their heads, after all.
He followed behind, feeling more relaxed when they were out in the open. A genuine smile even worked itās way to his features as they went. He was also throwing tiny fireballs at things to light them up but the other didnāt need to know about that.
Although she tried to keep her watch on him in her periphery, she somehow failed to notice that he was setting things on fire. In fact, when an ember caught on her skirt, she barely batted an eyelash, merely walking on.
He did notice that and quickly tried to put it out, deciding the fires he already started was enough.Ā āSorry. Bug.ā Hopefully that worked.
If Juana were in another universe wherein she was more familiar with human norms, she would probably have hit him for doing something that was just almost lifting her skirt.
ā¦Luckily for him, she was oblivious. She turned to him with a grateful smile, āThanks, ummā¦ā A pause, āIām sorry, I donāt think I caught your name?ā
"I donāt have a father."
Damek blinks once, looking surprised for a brief moment, āIām sorry to hear. I shouldnāt have asked,ā He pauses, his expression shifting to a hesitant smile, āBut surely, there were others? Other mermaids?ā
Damek hums, tapping his fingers against the leg heās brought up to rest on the bottom edge of her tank. Thereās a few things whirring through his mind at her last statement. Things arenāt good. Them being bad is relative. But still, he canāt just let her walk into this all blind.
āThank you, Miss. Youāre a welcome bit of sunshine around these parts as well,ā He pauses, expression sobering, āThough I will warn you that not everything that happens here is pleasant. Keep your guard up around the ringmaster.ā
The gravity in his tone, a contrast to his usual lighthearted countenance, gives her the impression that she should take heed of whatever warning he was to give her. She nods gravely in response.
"You can just call me Juana." She lets her smile return, shooting a fond glance at his proximity. If he feels comfortable enough to act that close to her, then she should reciprocate that, right? It wasn't bad, anyway; rather pleasant. It felt nice to have someone show consider her a friend and not a prisoner or pet.
"And, thank you for the advice; but I can't help but ask...Why?"
ā love is about sacrifice. itās about putting someone elseās needs and happiness before your own.ā
Oh- well, Josephine had seen that first hand. With a very soft smile, she watched the other carefully, voice fragile, āyouāre right, but love is also about compromise. Why sacrifice everything when you can have a chance to keep it?ā
un-coeurelastique:
With a light smile, Josephine chuckled, āIām a dancer, Iām pretty early in the show.ā
A slight pause, āand no need to say sorry! Itās alright to ask questions. Thereās a lot of people in the circus, itās not really possible to know everyone inside out- I certainly donāt!ā And that was true, for Josephine had been quite shy and quiet when sheād first come here. Sheād kept everyone at arms length, but now she was comfortable, at least enough to start talking to people with little to no fear.
Brown eyes lit up. /A dancer!/ Juana hadnāt the chance to see her, specifically, but she was always captivated by how much control they had over their bodies. Admittedly, the mermaid had a fascination with how people could move so beautifully on legs, something she wished to mimic although it was difficult for her. It must be exhilarating to be capable of that.
She smiled gratefully at the blonde, though her embarrassment was still evident in how she was slightly flushed.
āThanks for understanding, it really hasnāt been that long since Iāve joined, but Iāve found that itās not hard to warm up to people here. And youāre really nice.ā But Juana felt from her mannerisms that she was rather timid, so she tried to match the mood. āWhat..kind of dance do you do, if you donāt mind me asking?ā
āIt was just a dream, youāre alright.ā

"Whoa," Juana breathed in amazement. "all of them???" They were so many, she couldn't quite wrap her mind around it.
Her eyes softened as she examined the picture further. "You all look so happy here..."

un-coeurelastique:
Josephine nodded, almost matching the dreamily sigh, wishing that she would one day find that kind of love. Yet, as much as Josephine was idealistic, she was also drawn back down to earth by the realism of her life.
āSomeone is out there like that,ā she mentioned, āit just takes time to find them.ā
Juana looked into the otherās eyes with a hopeful but sad smile,Ā āYou..really think so?ā She crossed her arms on the rim of her tank and leaned on them, reflecting on the topic.
āIām sorry, I was just..sharing my thoughts, I guess.ā Evidently, it was a bit too painful for the both of them to think about it, so she decided to steer the conversation away.Ā āI hope I didnāt interrupt you or anything.ā
Josephine looked away from the other, a half smile still present on her features, as she nodded, āI really think so.ā
At Jaunaās latter comment, Josephine simply shook her head, āyouāve not interrupted me, Iām just walking around to pass time. Place can be awful lonely sometimesā¦ā
Juana nodded sympathetically. "Right..many people find themselves doing the same." She's seen quite the few pass by, idly trying to pass the time until the next show, perhaps.
"But it's nice when we get to talk to others, I think." She tried to recall the blonde's act. "Ah, I'm so sorry--what do you do, again?"
ā Killing time is one of my specialities. ā
Juana could relate. Hours upon days of simply being gazed upon had made her an expert in escaping through her mind.
ā..How do you do it?ā She asked with a raised eyebrow. Wouldnāt hurt to exchange strategies, especially when they had down time, say, while travelling.
With all of the things Meg did to keep herself busy over the several thousand years she had been alive, there was one phrase to sum it all up.
She stretched her legs in front of her, flexing her talons as she spoke.Ā āPeople watching, mostly. Humans certainly are interesting, yes?ā
Juana paused to consider it. "People watching, huh.." She could relate...somewhat, but not quite. She was used to people watching her all day, not the other way around.
"I..guess you could say that?" Something in the way the blonde said it made her seem so detached. "But I like to talk to people when I can, personally."
āIt was just a dream, youāre alright.ā
He wiped the sweat from his face as he tried to pretend he didnāt just choke on a scream. Stupid nightmares.Ā āY-Yeahā¦Donāt worry Iām fine.ā
