I was never skinny. All my life I âYoyoâdâ. From counting points, to syns, to âfastingâ, to milkshaking. I had tried every diet under the sun. I often got into this routine since I was 16; iâd go on a major quick fix diet in April and lose around a stone or so- then iâd balloon back up. In September 2012 I came to Uni. I had started creeping up the scales already since my summer diet, and by March 2013, I had put on 2 stone. Then obviously again, well done, you guessed it, Iâd go back down a stone (this time being a stone more than I already was). Then again, yes, I put it back on.
Fast Forward to April 2014. I was sluggish, insecure and tired of wearing as many baggy camisole tops i could get my hands on. I was also very angry at the world, and when I went out I would get so drunk and just cry about my fat self. Very standard behavior. Iâd had enough of being jealous of other people and going shopping and looking at the blouses and but never the bodyconsâ. For a few months I did my fitness pal. And honestly, it was a great starter. I lost 10 pounds before my holiday in June, however eventually got completely stuck and yoyoâd. I now realise saying âi can have 2 chocolate bars and a packet of crisps because I have 500 calories left todayâ, was utter crap (you are what you eat hey).
So Mid August I was getting rather worked up because I was going on holiday again beginning of September with friends and not even 1 or 2 pounds were vanishing. So i thought hmm, something needs to change. My mum has always been slim and healthy, however in 2013 she needed to lose a stone after gaining a bit, she did this easily in a month. I never tried it as  it seemed strict, however for this was my game changer. It is called âThe Harcombe Dietâ. I woke up once and read the book in one morning. It explained the Science behind our cravings, and what we needed to do to vanish them. I stuck strictly to phase 1 which was actually quite easy and lost 6 pounds in 5 days. I then continued to phase 2 (which is very enjoyable) and lost an additional 4 pounds. I found it all just made such sense. It wasnât just my weight that iâd lost, I no longer craved the food and my mindset had changed, I was a happier person, and no longer felt the need to punch the mirror when I looked in one.
After my holiday I lost an additional 7 pounds and came back to university confident, with new clothes and feeling better than ever. Slowly as I drank however I had more cheats and cravings would crop up. I went home a month after and lost the extra 4 pounds, making my weight loss 31 pounds. SCORE. Score you may think. However between that last 7 I lost I am struggling to go down. I find myself so determined and feeling like Dave off money supermarket (you know that one, with the ass and the legs) some days, and others, I am a brat in a candy shopâŠyes it is after I drink. I notice now that I canât let one night of drinking ruin my week. Although unfortunately the cycle starts: Iâm healthy, I drink, forget, eat, cry, healthyâŠREPEAT. THIS CYCLE MUST STOP. However, the few times I stop the cycle in itâs tracks, with one day back on the diet my cravings go again, so low and behold MUST STICK.
I did this for 5 days last week and lost 6 poundsâŠI WAS SO GOOD. Obviously though, I had a karaoke night (it was amazing), where I drank 4 sugar filled toxic cocktails. It didnât take me long to get back on the bread and cakes. Oh wellâŠfrom here and out, no more. I need to lose that last amount of weight, i just do.
Nevertheless, I am really not out of control. On most days I am generally healthy and munch on my kale chips (just call me NigellaâŠ) and I am really quite proud of what Iâve achieved. Just pushing past this hurdle is a must, and I will lose that last stone, wonât i?
Anyways yes, I will blog a bit more about the Harcombe in the future, in the mean time it is really good, and I swear by it. (bar the alcohol, but what diet does work on yeast and sugar infested beverages?..) I can enjoy cheese, cream, fruit etc on it, and feel guilt free. For the first time I havenât come back to uni and piled on the pounds, I am just a little stuck, and It is due to the one book I purchased that morning on my kindle this change has happened. I have put the amazon link at the bottom. And yes those pictures are me, not some randomer (if you havenât yet guessed).
Namaste xo
