Qifrey is a selfish, selfish man. He is nothing like Olruggio. Kind, gentle, and warm Olly. So when he sees on the very rare occasion the two of them are out among people, people flirting with him Qifrey wants to scream. He wants to pull his star away from them and demand they never even look at him again. He wants to kiss Olruggio in front of them. He wants to.. he wants. He wants to cry. How dare he ask for more of his love to love him back? He who takes memories like candy from a child. He who never really answers questions when it's important. He who wants vengeance more than comfort and a steady life with his one sided crush. He wants to live with his students until they grow up and move on with their own precious lives. He wants to keep Olly with him forever. In any way he would be granted. He wants and wants but all he really deserves is that damned coffin.

As if sensing Qifrey's spiraling thoughts, Olruggio turns from his conversation and smiles at him. And like a strong summer breeze, air flows back in to Qifrey's lungs saving him from drowning again. He'll settle for this.

As they make their way back home, Qifrey stumbles a bit and his dearest grabs his hand and steadies him. "You alright? Too much wine I think for you my friend." Olly laughs and Qifrey wants to suspend this moment in time, wants to kiss him, wants to bend him over a table. Instead, he just responds. "Yes a touch too much I think. Thank you." They laugh and later, as Qifrey settles in to bed, he lets the guilt overwhelm him again.

Gonna yap ab fandom again bc it’s interesting to me

Idk as someone who has received a few apologies for online harassment over the years (a couple on anon) I think there’s a good portion of any fandom that can be purely hateful and bad and then there’s a really sad percentage that I think…they’re possibly young (sometimes not) and spend a great amount of time embedded in an online space that often affords them an echo chamber of friends that strive to report each other for non-puritanical behavior and it is genuinely depressing. Not even saying that to be condescending. It’s actually very sad to know that there are people out there who cannot experience the joys of fandom without killing the cop in their head, because all these groups function like miniature, modern cults. You’re uncomfortable with yourself and unhappy with real life. You can’t use escapism unless it is specifically crafted to your own infinitesimally small experience because if you can’t relate to a concept, it has no value to you. If you are unhappy, you need your fictional world to align with the values and morals of your group. You don’t like being made uncomfortable by written fiction, but refuse to curate your own experience because you think if you kick your feet and cry enough, people will stop writing the things that make you question your own world view and experiences. I have seen countless people confess that they are scared of these groups, that they felt isolated within them. And it’s silly to think that a fandom space could ever hold power over an individual, sure. But it 100% does. It does and it causes real world harm when you spend your time harassing and doxing people for things that you don’t even have to interact with.

There are lots of stories being told in fan fiction. Not every single one has to be crafted for every single reader.
