For Link, to some extent he could understand Amy’s plight. He could understand why her ears drooped — after all, he’d been treated with the same suspicion when he’d been forced into another form. Unlike Amy, though, he could go back to being human and accepted in society. She could not.

With serious consideration given to that, the swordsman finally lowered his weapon of choice to the point that it would not be considered threatening, but didn’t relinquish it entirely, just in case.

"… I can try to show you to the market, then, if you want," he said softly. He’d keep an eye on her, but he was starting to believe that she genuinely didn’t mean any harm.

She looks as though she's going to accept his offer, but then the little hedgehog shakes her head. While she would like to have a look around, she'd rather not do it while essentially on a leash. It's clear the man doesn't trust her entirely, and it just doesn't sit right with her. Neither does his classification of her as a monster-- A monster he may be starting to consider harmless, but a monster all the same. All because she wasn't human!

If he's going to treat her like that -- and this guy seemed pretty nice, in all honesty. He's just doing his job as a knight! -- she can't imagine how the other humans might. 

"...N... No. It's okay. I'm not supposed to be here, right? I wouldn't want to scare anyone else by mistake. I'm sorry, mister. I didn't mean to cause any trouble... I'll go away. I'm... Sure I can find my way home if I walk far enough."

Sheesh, this girl monster has an attitude. Link can’t help but frown hard, especially at her criticism of the gate guards; while what she’s saying is true (he’s been through the town himself as a wolf and they’ve never attacked him, unlike a farm-dweller), it’s still more than a little rude to say that about a town she’s visiting. Yet, he can’t say that her attitude is all that monster-like…

"… Even if you aren’t invading, all of the citizens are going to be afraid of you while you look like that." In other words, there’s little purpose to her wanting to shop in this market. Maybe the Gorons’ll be unafraid, but the humans will run away. He knows that one for sure. "Are you sure that you’re just here for supplies?"

The frown seems to calm the little girl somewhat; It shows he's taking her words -- not just the potential threat of her standing right there next to him -- seriously. In fact, the ghost of a smile graces her lips at this.

Only to fade at his next words. Why would the people be afraid of her?! Humans back home weren't afraid of Amy; She had several human friends back at Station Square! Everyone said she was cute! She feels like a monster now, geez... Was this how Sonic felt when he was a Werehog? Amy's ears droop ever so slightly, the only indication of Link's words affecting her.

"Well, yeah-- What else would I be doing in a market?" Oh, right. Attacking people, clearly. How could Amy have forgotten?! "Just because I'm not a human doesn't make me bad, y'know. I wanted to see if there were any nice apples for sale. Oooh, or pumpkins! Fall time means pie time, you know? I wanted to bake one for Sonic!"

Funny that the pink ‘monster’ is already starting off with a question — which derails the instant she starts scolding Link and getting in his face. He’s so startled by her demeanor, which is very human-like, that he backs up a bit, sword hand wobbling a bit as his eyebrows, previously lowered and knitting, rise.

"Kn-knight academy…?" What? Actually, never mind. There’s no point to reasoning with it. He tenses himself again, trying not to let her get to him too much. That might be her goal, after all! "You’re invading Castle Town. Why wouldn’t I pull a sword on you?" He’s not going to let himself be fooled.

The pink monster lets out a little 'hmph!' at the boy's attempts to justify being about to try and kill her, stomping a red and white clad food in irritation. She then places her hands on her hips, scoffing at his words with a roll of her eyes.

"Because if you haven't noticed, Mr. Knight, I'm not actually attacking anyone. I'm here in the market to have a look around and maybe shop. If I were here to cause trouble, wouldn't I already be doing that? I'm here in the town already, what would be stopping me?" Amy pauses, realizing that the choice of words may get her in more trouble. "Not that I'd want to... After people get over the shock factor, they're actually very polite and sweet! You may want to have a word with the gate guards, by the way, for when real monsters show up; They practically ran away screaming! If someone harmless like me's gonna set 'em off, what're they gonna do when real invaders show up and people start getting hurt? It was the south gate, by the way. I think."
