breathe you in, and now i’m alive
currently laying in my bed with my spider-man blanket that i’ve had since i was in elementary school, wishing i had a free bag of chipssuhhhh
or in other words.. WHY DOES NO ONE WANT TO PLAY MARVEL RIVALS RAAHHHHH
everytime i solo queue its a nightmare
how does one make online friends, like genuinely.
posted for the first time ever on a wednesday.. in the morning… feels weird.
SENSES FAILED
𐔌 ꜱʏɴᴏᴘꜱɪꜱ 𐦯 ┆after you find out spider-man’s identity, you couldn’t help but put his ‘spidey senses’ to the test..
╰┈➤ˎˊ˗ spiderman!sim jaeyun x f!reader.ᐟ ┆w. 2,224┆slice of life. fluff. high school au. established relationship.
ᴍɪᴠ ɞ┆i rewatched all of the spider man movies since the new one is gonna come out soon and decided i wanted to come out with a spider man!jake. i want to make a longer one so have this in the meantime!
⋆.ೃ࿔*:・
you stare at jake from across the room, his gaze already locked onto yours as he sits in his desk chair. you squint, still trying to process what he just said.
“so you can just… sense when something’s going to happen?” you ask, head tilting slightly.
he shrugs, eyes drifting as he searches for the right way to explain it. “i guess. it’s not like i know everything. it just… comes to me. like breathing.. if that makes sense.”
you hum softly, not fully convinced. “but i thought the whole point was to know before it even starts?”
“i mean, yeah,” he says, glancing back down at his web shooters, fingers moving as he adjusts something. “but i’m not gonna suddenly sense someone getting robbed across the city. it’s more like… around me.”
you lean back on his bed, letting his words settle as your eyes wander around the room. they land on an eraser sitting beside a notebook and pencil on his counter.
slowly, you glance back at him. he’s still hunched over, focused, completely unaware. a grin creeps onto your face.
you reach for the eraser as quietly as you can, holding your breath as you pull back your arm—then toss it without thinking. it nearly misses him, just barely clipping the back of his head.
he jolts forward with a small noise.
you slap a hand over your mouth, laughter bubbling up at the sound of the soft thud.
he immediately brings a hand to the back of his head, grabbing the eraser after it bounces off the wall and lands on his desk. then he turns to you, eyes narrowing slightly. “did you just throw that at me?”
your eyes widen, caught. your hand drops from your mouth. “it’s cause—” you start, but the smile you’re trying to hide gives you away instantly.
he nods slowly, lips curling as he mimics you, “uh huh.”
“well,” you say, trying to recover, “you said you had a ‘spider-sense,’ so… i thought you would’ve caught it or something.”
he laughs, setting the eraser back down. “i do. just not for school supplies.”
you nod, still eyeing him like you don’t fully buy it. “right… right…”
he raises a brow. “you think i’m lying?”
you shake your head quickly. “no, no. i’m just… questioning.”
he leans back slightly in his chair, studying you now instead of his web shooters. there’s something amused in the way his eyes narrow, like he’s trying to figure you out just as much as you’re trying to figure him out.
“questioning,” he repeats, slow, like he doesn’t quite believe you.
you shrug, picking at a loose thread on his blanket. “can you blame me? you’re basically telling me you’ve got built-in danger radar. that’s not natural.”
“nothing about it is natural, i literally have superpowers,” he mutters, though there’s a faint smile tugging at his lips. “and it’s not a radar.”
“then what is it?” you ask, crossing your arms.
he hesitates. just for a second.
“it’s… a feeling,” he says finally. “like something’s wrong before you even know why.”
you glance up at him, watching the way his fingers slow against the metal in his hands. this time, you don’t joke. “that sounds exhausting.”
he lets out a quiet breath, almost like a laugh but without the humor. “you get used to it.”
there’s a small pause.
you sit up a little straighter, curiosity getting the better of you again. “so it didn’t go off just now?”
his eyes flick to you. “no.”
“at all?”
“no,” he repeats.
you narrow your eyes. he sighs, already knowing where this is going. “don’t.”
you reach for the pencil.
“i said don’t.” he pulls his hand out in defense.
you grin.
this time, you fake a throw—your hand jerking forward without actually letting go. his body reacts instantly. he flinches, shoulders tensing, head ducking just slightly.
you freeze. he freezes too. slowly, you lower your hand, the pencil still in your grip.
“you liar,” you say, barely above a whisper, a smile breaking through anyway. “wouldn’t you have not sensed anything since i didn’t throw it?”
he exhales, running a hand over his face. “what are you talking about?”
“you ducked.”
“because i literally saw a possible threat in front of me,” he shoots back, pointing at you. “that’s different.”
you laugh, tossing the pencil lightly onto the bed this time. “you’re right, i guess i just have to try different methods to put it to the test. i need to make sure you don’t see it coming.”
he shakes his head, a soft smile slipping through. “do you really have to add to everything i already deal with?”
you shrug, a playful glint in your eyes. “someone needs to keep things interesting.”
he lets out a quiet breath through his nose, like he’s trying not to laugh but failing anyway. his head tilts slightly as he looks at you, that same soft smile lingering.
“you’re unbelievable,” he mutters.
you grin, shifting on the bed so you’re facing him more fully. “and yet, here i am. in your room, watching you fix your suit.”
he huffs, shaking his head again, but there’s no real annoyance behind it. if anything, he looks comfortable.
“you’re lucky my reflexes are good,” he says, glancing back at his web shooters, though his attention clearly isn’t on them anymore.
“mm,” you hum, unconvinced. “debatable.”
his eyes flick back to you instantly. “debatable?”
you nod, leaning back on your hands. “you did just get hit in the head by an eraser.”
“you cheap-shotted me,” he argues, turning in his chair to face you fully now. “that doesn’t count.”
you smile, tilting your head. “sounds like an excuse.”
he narrows his eyes at you, but there’s a spark there—something competitive. “you wanna test it again?”
you raise a brow, intrigued. “what, like a rematch?”
“yeah,” he says, leaning forward slightly. “but this time i’m ready.”
you glance around the room, pretending to consider it, before your eyes land back on him. “but you’ll see it coming, and what’s the fun in that?”
he stays quiet for a moment, thinking. “i could be blindfolded?”
you smirk. “you’d like that, wouldn’t you?”
his expression drops instantly, color rushing to his face. “what—? no. what are you talking about?” he covers his face, half-groaning.
you laugh. “i’m kidding.”
you tilt your head. “so, if i win? what do i get?”
he rolls his eyes, avoiding your gaze, though his lips twitch. “you won’t.”
you laugh softly. “wow. confident.”
“realistic,” he corrects.
you push yourself off the bed, standing, brushing your hands off like you’re actually preparing for something serious. “okay, spider-boy. don’t cry when you lose.”
he stands too, setting his web shooters aside, rolling his shoulders like he’s bracing for impact. “just throw something already.”
you smile sweetly. and then you don’t move. a beat of silence passes. his brows pull together slightly. “what are you—”
you grab a pillow and launch it straight at him. this time, he catches it without hesitation.
there’s a beat of silence. then he smirks. “told you.”
you blink at him, then narrow your eyes. “…okay, that was a warm-up. it doesn’t count—you literally knew i was going to throw something. that’s just reflexes. anyone could do that.”
he lets out a quiet scoff, shifting the pillow in his hands before tossing it lightly back onto the bed.
“anyone?” he repeats, brow raised.
you nod, crossing your arms like you’ve already won the argument. “yeah. don’t let it get to your head.”
he studies you for a second, then exhales a small laugh, shaking his head. “you just don’t wanna admit it.”
“you wish,” you shoot back.
there’s a pause—brief, but charged with that same playful tension that’s been building. then his eyes flick toward your hands. “do it again.”
you narrow your eyes. “what?”
“throw something,” he says, calmer this time. “but don’t make it obvious.”
you tilt your head, suspicious. “and you won’t look?”
he hesitates, then turns around, giving you his back. “fine. i won’t look. i’ll even close my eyes.”
you watch him carefully, trying to spot any sign he’s cheating—but he stays still, shoulders relaxed, head angled slightly down.
you glance around the room, quieter this time. more deliberate. your eyes land on the same eraser from before.
you pick it up slowly, holding it between your fingers as you study him. he doesn’t move.
you take a step to the side. still nothing. your grip tightens just slightly—then you flick it forward.
before it even reaches him, his hand lifts, catching it cleanly behind his back.
you freeze.
he turns around slowly, holding the eraser between his fingers, a small, knowing smile forming. “still think anyone could do that?”
you stare at him, caught between disbelief and something else you can’t quite name.
“…okay,” you admit, quieter this time.
he raises a brow. “okay?”
you point at him, narrowing your eyes again, though there’s a hint of a smile breaking through. “i guess you’re cool, with your heightened senses, or whatever. don’t let it get to your head, spider-boy.”
his smile widens, just a little. he grabs his web shooters, slipping them onto his wrists before dropping back onto his bed. “too late.”
you watch him from where you stand, rolling your eyes playfully—when suddenly, something tugs at you. you barely have time to react before a thin strand of web catches around your wrist, pulling you forward. “jake—”
you stumble, the sudden force dragging you across the room until you land beside him with a soft thud against the mattress.
he doesn’t even look surprised. just turns his head slightly, that same smug smile still there. you stare at him, half-annoyed, half-amused. “you’re so annoying.”
“you’re still here,” he points out casually. you let out a quiet scoff, trying to ignore the way your heart’s beating a little faster. “yeah, against my will.”
“sure,” he hums. he gets comfortable, shifting closer until he’s practically tucked into you, a quiet sigh leaving him.
you glance down at him, a grin pulling at your lips. “you seem comfortable.”
“that was basically training,” he mumbles, voice slightly muffled as he buries his face into your neck. “with everything you had me doing, i think i deserve a little rest.”
you laugh, trying to push him off, though there’s not much effort behind it. “oh, please—what are you going to do if we get caught, huh?”
he barely moves, only adjusting so he’s more comfortable, like the thought doesn’t even concern him.
“then we get caught,” he says simply.
you blink at that, caught off guard. “that’s your plan?”
he lifts his head just enough to look at you, lips twitching. “what, you want me to web us out the window or something?”
you pause, considering it for a second. “…i mean, that would be impressive.”
he huffs a quiet laugh, dropping his head back against you.
“relax,” he murmurs. “no one’s coming in.”
you raise a brow, still skeptical. “and your super senses are telling you that?”
there’s a small pause.
“…maybe,” he admits. you narrow your eyes, but the smile on your face gives you away. “you’re unbelievable.”
“and yet,” he mumbles, already settling in again, “you’re still letting me lay here.”
you settle back against him, letting the moment quiet down again.
“doesn’t look like you’d let me go anyways,” you tease softly.
he exhales a quiet laugh, arms still loosely around you as if proving your point without trying.
for a moment, it’s just the two of you—no teasing, no movement. just stillness. the steady rhythm of breathing. the faint sound of each other’s heartbeat. everything else feels far away.
then—the door swings open.
“jake! i made some—” jake’s aunt freezes mid-step. so does everything else. “oh.”
jake jolts upright instantly, scrambling out of the moment like he’s been caught in a crime scene. you push yourself up on your elbows, looking between him and her, barely holding back a laugh.
“aunt may! this isn’t—” jake starts, voice cracking with panic. “we weren’t—”
she already starts backing out of the room. “i’m just going to— there’s food downstairs if you’re both hungry. be safe. um… use protection.”
there’s a beat of silence.
jake looks like he might actually combust. “AUNT MAY!”
she gives an awkward little wave. “okay, okay, i’m leaving.”
the door clicks shut. dead silence.
then jake drops back onto the bed like his soul just left his body, one arm over his face. “i’m never leaving this room again.”
you burst out laughing, turning onto your side to look at him. “i literally told you too!”
he groans into his arm. “she did not have to say that.”
“she’s hilarious,” you say, still laughing. “that was iconic. we’re both clothed too, which makes it funnier.”
he turns his head slightly toward you, cheeks still bright red. “don’t encourage her.”
you grin. “so much for your spider-senses, huh?”
he lets out a defeated sound. “shut up.”
before you can tease him again, he hooks an arm around your waist and pulls you back in, tighter this time—like he’s trying to hide you from the world and also from himself.
“you’re not telling anyone about this,” he mutters.
you smile, settling back against him. “no promises.”

you were stretched out on sunghoon’s bed, mindlessly scrolling through social media as you waited for him to get back from class. the longer you waited, the more restless you became—shifting positions, turning over, like there was something you wanted to do but couldn’t quite place. a soft sigh left your lips, your thoughts beginning to drift aimlessly, when the door suddenly swung open, cutting everything off at once.
sunghoon stepped in with an earbud in, gaze fixed on his phone as he typed, barely paying attention to anything else. the quiet didn’t last long—the sharp ding from your phone broke through it, pulling his attention away. he glanced up, finally noticing you.
“what the…” he grinned, slipping his phone and earbuds into his pocket before dropping his backpack to the floor. “how’d you get in here?”
before you could even answer, he threw himself on top of you, burying his face into your neck. you let out a breathless laugh, struggling beneath him as his weight pinned you down.
“oh my gosh,” you huffed, trying to shove him off. “hoon, are you trying to kill me?”
he laughed, pushing himself up with his hands so he could look at you, hovering just inches above your face. you met his gaze with a playful glare.
“oh, come on. don’t act like you hate it,” he said, a wide smile spreading across his face.
you rolled your eyes, but couldn’t help the smile tugging at your lips as you gently pushed his face to the side.
he chuckles under his breath, finally rolling onto his side next to you instead.
“seriously though,” he says, nudging your arm, “how’d you get in?”
“jake let me in,” you mumble, staring at the ceiling. “he actually asked me to come over because he needed help with some program our professor makes us use. it’s so stupid, honestly. we both sat there for two hours with no clue until we both gave up.”
he hummed, then glances back at you. “how long have you been here?”
“long enough to get bored,” you say, pushing yourself up slightly, your weight resting on your arms so you can look at him properly.
he tilts his head, watching you a second longer than usual, like he’s trying to read you. then that familiar smile creeps back in. “want to go to the gym with me?”
you groan, throwing yourself back onto his bed. “why can’t we just take a nap instead? aren’t you tired from your lectures?”
he laughs, sitting up to look at you. “come on, baby. it’ll be like an hour and a half, max—I promise. and you were literally texting me about it, complaining that you couldn’t go earlier when you usually do. so why not go now? with me, your boyfriend,” he adds, poking your side.
you squirm, swatting his hand away. “this is what i get for thinking you’d be on the same wavelength as me…”
“it’ll be fun, i swear,” he says, softer this time. “you don’t even have to stay with me the whole time if you don’t want to. just knowing you’re there somewhere is enough.”
there was a small pause of silence before he continued, “come on… we never get the chance to go together. we always go at different times.”
you sigh, rubbing your eyes. a second later, the weight beside you disappears as he gets up and heads to his closet. you watch him pull his shirt off and toss it into the laundry before grabbing a clean one, slipping it on like it’s nothing. you get so distracted you don’t realize he’s waiting on you.
“so?” he asks, a smirk tugging at his lips, clearly catching you staring. you pretend to think it over, letting out a small huff. “fine. but we have to stop by my place first—I don’t have any of my stuff.”
his eyes light up instantly. “works for me,” he says with a grin, already changing into his sweats.
once he had his things ready, he grabbed his keys and wallet—slipping them into his pocket. as you both head for his bedroom door, he slows slightly, looking over at you. “you better not ditch me once we get there.”
you raise a brow. “you’re the one who said i didn’t have to stay with you.”
“yeah, but i didn’t mean it,” he admits, scratching the back of his neck. you stare at him for a second, then smile a little. “we’ll see.”
you grab your bag from the living room, right where you left it when you tried to help jake—only to fail miserably.
now he’s completely knocked out on the sofa, drool slipping from the corner of his mouth as he sleeps in the most uncomfortable position imaginable.
sunghoon quietly pulls out his phone, snapping a few pictures at different angles before nudging him just enough to wake him.
“we’re heading out,” he mutters.
jake barely reacts—just gives a lazy wave and a soft hum before turning over, already snoring again within seconds.
you shake your head, letting out a small laugh as you sling your bag over your shoulder. “to think he said he was going to work on extra credit.”
sunghoon chuckles, slipping his phone back into his pocket as he walks to the kitchen. “i’m definitely sending that to the group chat later.”
“you’re evil,” you mumble, though you’re smiling.
“he’ll survive.” he shrugs, grabbing a protein bar from the pantry.
you both head for the door, stepping out together, talking about each other’s day as you make your way toward your apartment on the other side of campus.
once you get there, you unlock the door with a small huff, tossing your bag onto the couch before heading straight to your room. you expect sunghoon to do the same—to flop onto the couch and wait for you while you change, but when you hear footsteps trailing right behind you, you pause mid-hallway, turning around with a confused look.
“what are you doing?” you ask, brow raised.
he stops a few steps away, completely unbothered. “what? you watched me change and suddenly it’s a crime when i want to watch you?” he smirks, hands lifting in mock defense.
you scoff, pinching the bridge of your nose. “sunghoon, no.”
he gasps defensively, throwing his arms. “what? how is that even fair?”
shaking your head with a laugh, you turn and continue toward your room, but before you can make it another step, his hands find your waist. his full weight drops as he slides down, clinging to you while you try to keep walking. “c’mon, baby, please—don’t do this to me,” he whines. “god for forbid a boyfriend wants to see his girlfriend, so what it happens to be when you’re taking your clothes off? it just brings us closer.”
“sunghoon,” you groan, trying to pry him off, “let go, you literally weigh a thousand pounds.”
he gasps once more, pushing himself up slightly to look at you. “that’s messed up. i wouldn’t even say that to my worse enemy.”
you shake your head, trying not to laugh as you turn back toward him. your hand comes up to cup his cheek, and just like that, he softens. “aw, you know i’m kidding, hoonie. i’m sorry.”
he pouts anyway, but before he can say anything, you give him a small nudge—just enough to throw him off balance. he falls back onto the floor dramatically.
“now let me change,” you say, stepping over him, “and wait patiently.”
he stays sprawled on the floor as you shut your door behind you. “i hate you,” he mutters.
from the other side, your voice comes back, muffled but teasing. “yeah, yeah. sure you do.”
a small smile tugs at his lips despite himself as he sighs, giving in.
you quickly dig through your closet, changing as soon as you find something that works. after a quick glance in the mirror, fixing your hair and grabbing what you need—you head back out.
when you open the door, sunghoon is exactly where you left him, staring up at the ceiling. he turns his head the moment he hears you. you raise a brow. “why are you still on the floor?”
he shrugs, a lazy grin forming as he reaches a hand out toward you. “help me up.”
you roll your eyes, but there’s a smile on your face as you step closer, taking his hand and trying to pull him up—only for him to tug you down instead.
you let out a surprised laugh as you fall, landing against him, his arms wrapping around you instantly, trapping you in place. “can we just stay here? laying like a sack of potatoes for a couple hours.”
“sunghoon!” you protest, squirming. “i literally just got ready!”
“mm,” he hums, tightening his hold just slightly, “not even for a little bit?”
you sigh, giving up with little to no fight, a small smile settling on your lips as you relax against him. for a moment, neither of you moves—the quiet, the warmth, even the short walk over somehow draining just enough energy to keep you there.
after a few seconds, you push yourself up slightly when his grip loosens, looking down at him. “okay, let’s go,” you say, tapping his chest.
he cracks one eye open to look at you, then lets it fall shut again with a content sigh, hands moving behind his head. “i don’t know… i think i like where we’re at right now,” he murmurs, getting comfortable.
you sit up on his lap, watching the steady rise and fall of his chest, brow quirking. “weren’t you the one begging me to go? what happened?” you poke his cheek lightly. “sudden change of heart?”
he barely reacts, just giving a lazy shrug. “mm… don’t feel like it anymore.”
you study him for a second, clearly thinking, before a small smirk forms. with a quiet huff, you slide off of him and stand up. “okay then.”
he cracks an eye open at the shift, watching as you casually step over him and head toward the kitchen. “where are you going?” he asks, pushing himself up slightly.
you glance back at him, grabbing a water bottle from the fridge. “you don’t want to go, so i’ll just go by myself,” you shrug, already slipping your shoes on.
he clicks his tongue, completely caught off guard. “huh? you’re not even gonna try to convince me to go with you?”
you shrug again, way too unbothered. “you said you didn’t want to. why would i?”
“wowww,” he drags out, sitting up now. “good to know my presence isn’t wanted.”
you laugh under your breath, walking back over and grabbing his arm, trying to pull him up. he immediately resists, going limp on purpose. “sunghoon—”
“nope,” he cuts in, eyes still closed. “not convinced.”
you pause, exhaling through your nose, already tired of his antics. “okay, okay. i was kidding. come on, let’s go. i actually want to go with you.”
he hums like he’s considering it, dragging it out just to be annoying. “mm… i don’t know… that didn’t sound very convincing.”
you let out a dramatic sigh, crossing your arms. “what do you want me to do, beg?”
one of his eyes peeks open, a hint of a smirk showing. “i mean… i wouldn’t be against it.”
you stare at him for a second before lightly kicking his leg. “get up.”
he cackles obnoxiously, “no need to get violent.”
instead of continuing his banter, you step back, grabbing your keys. “okay. stay here then.”
you start walking toward the door without looking back.
“…wait.”
you don’t stop.
“hey—”
before you can reach the handle, you hear him scrambling up behind you.
“okay, okay! i’m coming,” he says, grabbing your wrist.
you turn back with a wide, satisfied smile. “that’s what i thought.”
he narrows his eyes at you, but he’s smiling anyway. “you’re so annoying.”
“learned from the best,” you say, stepping out with a wink before locking the door.
he scoffs behind you, quickening his pace to catch up. “yeah, right.”
you hum, slipping your keys into your bag as you start walking. “what? you don’t like when i act like you?”
“not when it’s used against me,” he mutters, falling into step beside you.
you glance at him, a teasing smile tugging at your lips. “so you admit it works?”
“alright, alright. let’s not get into the specifics now…” he says, interlocking his fingers with yours.
it doesn’t take long to reach the campus gym, sitting right between your apartments. he holds the door open for you, letting you walk in first before following close behind.
you greet the receptionist, punching in your student id while sunghoon does the same. as you step inside, he lets out a content sigh, glancing around.
“doesn’t look too busy today,” he says. “this is gonna be a good workout.”
you hum in agreement, stopping for a moment as you turn to him. “what are you working on today?” you ask, tilting your head.
he thinks for a second. “arms. i did lower body yesterday. what about you?”
you frown slightly. “i’m doing lower body… glute-focused today.”
his expression drops instantly. “you’re lying.”
you shake your head, already heading toward the stretching area. “i just did upper body yesterday. at least we can stretch and do cardio together,” you add with a small smile.
he trails behind you, sulking ever so slightly.
you set your things down while he grabs a mat for both of you, setting the mat down for you.
“i mean… i guess,” he mutters, then glances at you. “but do you have to do lower body today? i could show you my arm routine.”
you give him a blank look before going back to your stretch.
he rubs the back of his neck, a sheepish smile creeping in. “c’mon, babe. think about it—we’d get to spend more time together.”
you exhale into your stretch before responding, “okay, then why don’t you do lower body with me?”
his face scrunches immediately. “but i did that yesterday.”
you pause, then slowly look over at him. “…and i did upper body yesterday.”
he opens his mouth, then closes it.
you raise a brow. “exactly.”
he rolls his eyes. “whatever. just say you hate me.”
you shake your head, a quiet laugh slipping out. “sure, sure. now start stretching—you’ve been stalling for way too long.”
once you’re both done, you split off, heading to your own machines. at first, everything goes smoothly—at least from your perspective.
the gym slowly starts filling up as more students trickle in, probably trying to blow off steam after class.
as you finish your last set of cable kickbacks, you feel a light tap on your shoulder. you turn, sliding one side of your headphones off.
“sorry,” a guy says, a little hesitant. “were you using that?” he asks, pointing to the rope attachment near your feet.
you shake your head, offering a small smile. “oh—no, go ahead.”
you pick it up and hand it to him. he nods quickly, taking it from you—his hand lingering just a second too long before he thanks you. he pauses like he wants to say something else, but ends up walking off once you slip your headphones back on, completely oblivious.
you don’t notice sunghoon glancing over.
he’d caught the faint sound of your voice through his music, just enough to look up—and now his attention lingers a little longer than it should. he loses count of his reps, eyes flicking back to you more than once.
when you move on to the smith machine, you notice someone finishing up. you walk over, tilting your head slightly. “how many sets do you have left?”
she waves you off quickly. “oh no, i’m done! do you want me to wipe it down for you?”
you shake your head. “no, it’s okay—don’t worry.”
she nods, grabbing her bag, but pauses before leaving. “by the way… you’re so pretty.”
you blink, caught off guard, heat immediately rising to your cheeks. “oh my gosh—thank you so much. you’re literally gorgeous, i love your outfit.”
her face lights up. “thank you! i actually got it on sale online—I can show you the website if you want. and also, i’ve seen you here before and your quads are insane. like… i need your routine at this point.”
you laugh, a little shy but flattered, and end up talking for a couple minutes, exchanging social media before going your separate ways.
you go back to your workout like normal.
but what you don’t realize is that sunghoon has started drifting closer. machine by machine, set by set—until he’s just a little too nearby to be a coincidence.
as you rack the bar after your set, taking a second to catch your breath, you reach for your water bottle. just as you’re about to take a sip, someone steps a little closer.
“hey—sorry,” another guy says, offering a polite smile. “i don’t mean to interrupt.”
you glance up, sliding one side of your headphones off. “oh—it’s okay.”
he nods. “i just wanted to say your form is really good. i’ve been trying to fix mine, and—yeah, yours looks pretty solid.”
you blink, a little surprised. “oh! thank you, i appreciate it.”
“of course,” he says, then gestures toward the machine. “are you almost done here, or do you have a few sets left?”
“just one more,” you reply.
“got it,” he nods. “do you mind if i work in after?”
you nod. “yeah, of course. just give me a couple minutes and i should be done. i can also show you a creator i watch—they explain the form really well. it actually helped me a lot, if you want.”
his face lights up a little. “yeah, that’d be great.”
you pull out your phone, quickly showing him the creator before setting it aside and getting back into position.
mid-set, your eyes flick to the mirror—and that’s when you catch sunghoon walking over. he stops just off to the side of the machine, waiting quietly.
once you finish, you rerack the bar and look up at him, pulling your headphones off completely.
“what happened?” you ask. he clears his throat, trying to sound serious. “i decided i’m gonna do lower body with you.”
you have to fight the smile threatening to show.
“is that so?” you tilt your head slightly. “what made you change your mind?”
he shrugs, but there’s the slightest hint of something on his face. “looked more interesting over here.”
you raise a brow. “interesting?”
he nods once, glancing at the machine, then back at you. annoyance portrayed in his features. “yeah. figured i’d join you.”
you hum, clearly not fully buying it, but you don’t push.
“well,” you say, stepping aside slightly, “perfect timing. i just finished with this machine.”
he nods, stepping forward, but his hand brushes lightly against your waist as he passes—subtle enough to seem accidental, but not quite.
“good,” he murmurs, adjusting the weights like he’s been here the whole time.
you cross your arms loosely, watching him for a second, a small, knowing smile tugging at your lips. “something bothering you?”
he glances at you from the corner of his eye. “no.. why?”
“nothing,” you shrug, reaching for your water bottle. “just thought i noticed a little something. but i don’t know.”
he lets out a quiet scoff, shaking his head. “you’re reading too much into it.”
“am i?” you take a sip, clearly not convinced.
before he can answer, the guy from earlier steps back over, waiting politely off to the side. you notice him and gesture toward the machine.
“you can go ahead,” you say with a small smile.
“thanks,” he nods, stepping in.
sunghoon straightens slightly, stepping back just enough to give space, but not before adjusting the bar one last time.
you glance between the two of them, then back at sunghoon. “so… you joining me for the rest or what?”
he looks at you, looking away just as quick when he saw your eyes watching him. “yeah. i said i would, didn’t i?”
you nod toward the next machine. “then keep up.”
he huffs out a quiet laugh, following right behind you anyway.
you move on to the next machine, adjusting the weights while sunghoon lingers close, a little quieter than usual. he hands you the attachment before you even reach for it.
you pause, glancing at him. “wow… you’re being really helpful today.”
he shrugs, avoiding your eyes.
you hum, not letting it go. “mhm… is this because of earlier?”
his head snaps slightly in your direction. “what?”
you fight the smile creeping onto your face, stepping into position. “nothing,” you say casually. “just wondering why you suddenly decided to follow me around.”
“i’m not following you,” he mutters, a little too quick. “i told you, i wanted to hit legs with you.”
you raise a brow, starting your set. “right. you just happened to switch to lower body after complaining about how you already did that yesterday… and you just happened to decide that after a guy approached me.”
he runs a hand through his hair, looking off to the side. “it’s not that serious. plus, it was not just one guy. more like the whole gym came over to talk to you.”
you glance at him mid-rep, clearly amused. “i didn’t say it was. and it was literally just three different people?? what are you going on about?”
he huffs quietly, crossing his arms as he watches you. “you’re making it into something it’s not.”
you finish your set, setting the weight down before turning to him fully. “oh really?”
he opens his mouth, then hesitates, his expression softening just a little before he looks away again. “…yes.”
you step a little closer, just enough to be annoying. “so you didn’t care that i was being approached?”
he scoffs, but it comes out weaker than he probably meant. “why would i care?”
you tilt your head, watching him closely. “i don’t know… you tell me.”
he lets out a small breath, clearly caught, before shaking his head and brushing it off. “you’re reading into it too much.”
you smile, satisfied, grabbing your water bottle. “sure.”
he glances at you, a little flustered, before lightly nudging your arm. “just finish your workout.”
you laugh under your breath, stepping back into position. “yes, coach.”
throughout your sets, sunghoon stays close. he lingers beside you, occasionally pretending to adjust weights or check a machine, but his eyes keep flicking up, scanning before settling back on you like he’s making sure everything’s fine.
as you finish your set, you start to put the weights back where they were and turn toward him, catching him mid-look as he helped you.
you raise a brow. “you good?”
he straightens immediately. “yeah. why wouldn’t i be?”
you grab your water, taking a slow sip, eyes still on him. “no reason. you just seem… very aware today.”
he scoffs lightly, looking away. “i’m always aware.”
“mhm,” you hum, stepping a little closer. “right…” you drag out with a teasing smile.
sunghoon just stares at you blankly.
“well, let’s go do cardio so we can leave. i’m getting hungry.” you add, grabbing your things.
he agrees immediately, groaning in relief. “don’t have to tell me twice.”
you shake your head with a laugh before heading with him toward the treadmills. they’re pretty empty, so you both grab two next to each other without anyone crowding you.
for a while, you’re in your own worlds—sunghoon walking on an incline, scrolling on his phone, while you run, music blasting through your headphones.
after a couple minutes, you slow down, adjusting your pace to match his, walking on an incline as you catch your breath.
that’s when someone steps onto the treadmill on your other side.
you don’t think much of it at first, but after a moment, you feel a glance. you pull one side of your headphones down.
“hey,” the guy says, giving you a small smile. “sorry—i didn’t mean to interrupt or anything.”
you shake your head. “oh, no, you’re fine.”
“your pace is actually really good.” he continues.
you blink, a little surprised. “oh—thank you?”
next to you, sunghoon’s scrolling slows.
not obvious—just a slight pause of his thumb.
“yeah,” the guy continues, adjusting his speed. “i’ve been trying to get back into running, so it’s kinda motivating.”
sunghoon’s phone lowers just a bit.
he doesn’t look over yet—but he’s definitely listening now.
you nod politely. “it just takes time.”
“for sure,” the guy smiles. “i feel like i’m dying half the time.”
you laugh lightly.
next to you, sunghoon’s treadmill beeps softly—his speed dropping just a little.
this time, he does glance over.
quick. subtle.
then back to his phone.
“maybe i’ll catch up to you one day,” the guy adds.
before you can respond—“how much longer do you have?”
sunghoon’s voice cuts in, directed at you.
you blink, turning your head toward him. “what?”
he finally looks up fully now, nodding toward your screen. “how much time do you have left?”
you glance down at your treadmill. “um… like ten more minutes?”
he hums, like he’s thinking. “okay.”
then he looks forward again, like nothing happened, lifting his phone back up.
there’s a small pause.
the guy on your other side slows slightly, his attention drifting away. finally, you can focus fully on sunghoon, who seems to be scrolling through his phone—or at least that’s the idea.
he props it in his hand, pretending to scroll, but his head keeps flicking toward you every few seconds. you watch him from the corner of your eye, amused, before deciding to catch him in the act.
when your eyes meet, you can’t help but smirk. “looking for something?”
he jerks his head back to his phone, muttering quickly, “no..”
you hum, unconvinced. he clears his throat, trying to sound casual. “i’m just… uh… making sure we’re keeping the same pace.”
you bite back a laugh, noticing the faint pink creeping across his ears. “uh huh…”
you stop the treadmill, stepping off carefully. “let’s go,” you say, waiting for him.
it doesn’t take long for him to follow, immediately interlocking his hand with yours as you start walking out. he glances forward, clearly eager to leave.
“didn’t think you’d be so eager to get out already,” you tease as you make your way back to your apartment.
“and i didn’t expect so many people would want your attention,” he replies, eyes fixed ahead. “the more you learn, i guess.”
you bite back a laugh, noticing the subtle twitch in his brow. “i knew it was bothering you!” you accuse, poking his side lightly.
he glances at you from the corner of his eye. “they were harmless. typical gym stuff.”
that earns a raised brow from him as he finally turns to look at you. “you sure? because the first guy was basically caressing your hand when you were trying to give him the rope attachment.”
you snicker, amused. “what?? that’s literally an average interaction for anyone who goes to the gym.”
“so this happens every time you come to the gym?” he questions.
you shrug, unbothered.
he glances at you, annoyed by your lack of response. “why do you even answer them? why not let someone else deal with it?”
you pause, smirking. “i guess i’m… welcoming.”
“okay…” he mutters, skeptical. “doesn’t mean you have to smile at them, or whatever.”
you snort. “what? they’re just asking a question. you want me to yell ‘i have a boyfriend!’ and ignore them?”
he stares. “yes.”
you laugh. “unbelievable.”
he shakes his head, lips pursed. “guess you’ve got a new gym partner.”
“huh?”
“me. your boyfriend.”
you grin, teasing. “so suddenly? i thought you hated mornings and exclusively go in the afternoons or evenings.”
he shrugs casually, though the pink on his cheeks betrays him. “things change.”
you nudge his shoulder playfully. “uh-huh… just don’t get all cranky when i wake you up after you ignore all your alarms.”
he lets out a soft huff, glancing at you sideways. “i won’t… probably.”
you snicker, nudging him again. “probably? wow, that’s a very convincing answer.”
he rolls his eyes, pretending to focus forward, but you can see the corners of his mouth twitching. “…i said probably. that’s good enough.”
you bite back a laugh, poking his side lightly. “yeah… sure it is.”
he clears his throat, pretending to look at the buildings around him, but it’s obvious he’s failing.
every few seconds his eyes flick toward you, just enough for you to catch him. “…you’re impossible,” he mumbles, but the corner of his mouth is betraying him.
“oh, come on, hoonie,” you tease, letting your shoulder bump his again. “don’t let it bother you. i promise it was all harmless. and even if it wasn’t, i would’ve sent them on their merry way or even called you over.”
he avoids your eyes, still looking forward, hands tightening slightly around yours. “who said it was bothering me?”
you laugh softly, shaking your head. “hoon, i know you.”
he huffs again, pretending to readjust his grip on your hand, but you can tell he’s already resigned. “…okay. maybe i’m just a little… attentive. but not bothered.”
you grin, satisfied. “attentive, huh? that’s one word for it. attentive, bothered, jealous. all the same in your dictionary, right?”
he shoots you a quick glare out of the corner of his eye, trying to seem annoyed, but his smile gives him away. “…i hate you,” he mutters.
you laugh quietly to yourself, enjoying how he’s trying so hard to act casual while clearly failing. the two of you continue the walk to your apartment—hands intertwined, his nonchalance disappearing a little more with every step.

WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP HEESEUNG AND ENHYPEN? please read below.
hi guys, i redownloaded tumblr again just to make this statement but heeseung leaving enhypen has caught many of us off gaurd. i think everyone is devasted by this and yes i know everyone is thinking about a future with enhypen as six and honestly I don’t want that either.
i came here to spread awareness about what we could do as a fandom. please refer to this thread first of all.
link one — HEESEUNG did not make the decision to leave—he was kicked out of ENHYPEN.
this shows everything that adds up to heeseungs departure if anyone was also fishy about his sudden announcement like me. honestly, it makes sense.
but now that we are aware, what can we as engenes do? thankfully, twitter engenes made a thread of everything we could do from our side to fully support heeseung and bring him back.
link two — things you can do to help enhypen
sign the petition.
link three — template to email journalists about the situation.
link four — guidance on calling / faxing hybes investment companies !
link five — i found this account very helpful with keeping up with updates and finding out ways to help enhypen.
please sign the petitions ( as to my knowledge, we already have just over 500k ), rich engenes donate if you can. and most of all, do not stop talking about it.
this is genuinely the least we can do and it’s heartbreaking to me that we have to take action when their shitty company can’t do jack.
reblog this post, share it, do anything you can to raise awareness because this isn’t a simple decision you make, this is injustice.

sim jaeyun
skin care sabotage | jake asked you to do your full skincare routine on him, including the part where you clean your face with a facial razor. it reminded you of that viral trend where girlfriends pretend to shave off more of their boyfriends’ eyebrows than they should to see their reaction to it. (2k)
senses failed | after you find out spider-man’s identity, you couldn’t help but put his ‘spidey senses’ to the test.. (2k)
park sunghoon
warm silence | you brighten sunghoons world the same way the sun brings warmth to a cold day. to him, you’re everything. you’re the hush in his heart, the softness in all his hard edges, the steady in his storm, his anchor, his home. yet somehow, you felt out of reach—like a dream he could never quite hold onto. (8k)
attention | after finally getting the chance to go to the gym with you, sunghoon never expected the amount of attention you got from others. (4k)
