A long, long time ago... There was a little girl who fell head over heels in love with a little boy, or so she assumed it was love since she was way too young to be making such declarations, who opened her eyes to a whole new world. One of wonder and amazement, something that would take more than one lifetime to fully discover inch by inch. There were mysteries to uncover and so many sights to see, things she never ever would have thought about if it wasn’t for that little boy. At least, that’s what it felt like for a little girl named Lyla Florence.
Way back before her parents decided to take the plunge, traveling about on a whim for the sake of keeping her father’s job, there was a time in Lyla’s life where she didn’t want to play in the mud or plant all of the pretty flowers she would eventually learn the names of. They lived in a small town where everyone kept to themselves for the most part, barely any children around to run about too, which made life difficult for her parents because they were the type to spend great lengths of time outdoors. Naturally for the little girl, she felt lonely and a tiny bit resentful.
As time went by, Lyla made small attempts at going outside, by herself, until one day... A beautiful tune tickled her ear-- Enamored by this sound, she followed after it in search of the wonderful instrument and stopped by the bushes to get a peek at the mystical being in the field before her. An ordinary boy, playing an ordinary flute. How peculiar. Why did he play it outside in the middle of nowhere when he could be showing off his beautiful music to the world?
Lyla couldn’t wait to get the answers to her questions for much longer, so she hopped out of the bushes to surprise the shy boy with her sudden appearance. Spooking him probably wasn’t the best way to go, too late for a conscience now. After calming him down, introductions were given and the mischievous, lonely girl took a seat in the grass with hopes of listening to the boy’s tune again. She had forgotten about her fear of getting bitten by tiny bugs hidden away beneath the blades of grass and she also didn’t mind sitting out in the sun too much, not when she had this interesting person with her. Time drifted away as they spent time together, then they soon realized it was getting dark and that meant it was time to go home.
These little meetings behind the bushes didn’t end there, in fact, they continued to meet up all around their little village. That boy seemed to know a lot about all kinds of things, which drew Lyla to him like a moth to a flame. It honestly helped that he didn’t mind having her full attention like this...
Without really even noticing it-- The feeling of loneliness gradually washed away with his help and she found herself running out of the house every morning with an excited look on her face, all thanks to making her first real friend.
