Antler engraving found in Lortet Cave in the Hautes-Pyrénées region of France. It was carved from a reindeer antler and shows a group of reindeer crossing a river or lake full of swimming salmon. Dating to the Magdalenian period, approximately 17,000-12,000 years ago.

you know what’s wild is that all these crazy standards we hold ourselves to are things that we don’t even value in another person? like i’ve never been like “wow I love that this friend of mine is too proud to ask for help and never complains about their feelings” or “my favorite quality about this friend is that they get straight A’s and never get overwhelmed and has never told me about a problem” or “i love that this friend has never been wrong about anything or slipped up and said something embarrassing once in their life” and yet here we are, pushing ourselves past our limits for and beating ourselves up over slipups of things that our friends probably wouldn’t even rank in the top 50 reasons they like us

“stop traumadumping to your friends tell this to your therapist” my god they paywalled human connection
“If a friend of mine gave a feast, and did not invite me to it, I should not mind a bit. but if a friend of mine had a sorrow and refused to allow me to share it, I should feel it most bitterly. If he shut the doors of the house of mourning against me, I would move back again and again and beg to be admitted so that I might share in what I was entitled to share. If he thought me unworthy, unfit to weep with him, I should feel it as the most poignant humiliation.”
Oscar Wilde
there’s a huge difference between sharing and connecting with someone and trauma dumping.
when you ask a friend how they’re doing because you know they’re going through a rough time, and you hold space for them because you know that you’re in a place where you can help them process stuff, that is sharing sorrow. and that can be incredibly healing for both people.
when you don’t have a connection with someone and are using trauma to forge one, or talking about your trauma without knowing if a friend is able to hold space for you - THAT is trauma dumping. and for that, you absolutely need to find a therapist.
a simple question of “hey, can i talk about something painful and difficult”, goes a hell of a long way because even your close friends aren’t always in a place where they can hold everything you want to talk about.
trauma dumping is not the same as human connection. trauma dumping is using someone to alleviate your pain without their consent.
Were you taught how to type on a computer keyboard in school? Include your age/age range in the tags
Yes
No
This is a subject that really interests me because I (28 years old) had computer classes in grade school where learning how to efficiently type was a big focus. As a result I have a very high WPM (words per minute) count and am an excellent touch typer.
However, I've heard that they started phasing out computer classes in a lot of schools because it's assumed that kids/teenagers already know how to use a computer in this day and age. But smartphones are more popular than computers now, and as result a lot of Gen Z/Gen Alpha kids are able to text very quickly but their typing skills aren't as good.
