the thing is, #myodysseus is very much a "yeah i did all that and i'm not sorry because i was clever and smart about it. look how smart all my lies were" sort of character who then eats a ton of shit about how smart he actually is during the odyssey. he's humbled about his hubris, not what a monstrous war criminal he is.

unfortunately nolan's odysseus is like "yeah i did all that and i am sorry :/" which is just a weird thing for odysseus, of all people. if you want your hero to regret the monster the war turned him into, you have achilles, who is consistently self-aware about this. if you want someone beaten down by survivor's guilt and the pain of getting tossed around by the gods as he fights for control of his life, you have aeneas. i don't understand the logic of using the odyssey for this.

it was a good movie about some guy named odysseus, who is basically just good guy matt damon. the fall of troy scene was SO good but it belonged to another story. a story called the aeneid btw
