She’s a modern lover It’s an exploration, she’s made of outer space And her lips are like the galaxy’s edge And a kiss the colour of a constellation falling into place.

bartender-by-day:
Evelyn gave a sigh of relief as he agreed to stay. “… you had better keep that promise.” She murmured darkly, a glare in her eyes. “Because I will kill you if you’re gone.” The words she spoke were true, she would find the sharpest knife she owned and slice his throat.
Or something along those lines.
She gave him a weak smile at his remembrance, thinking back to that night. “I remember,” she agreed, giving a soft snort. “Not my fault, you made me threaten you. Mr. Hands-up-my-skirt,” she half-joked, giving a soft snort.
Her smile faultered at his last sentance. It felt like a dream to him. Did it really feel like this wasn’t real for him? Gently, she held his face in her shaky hands and whispered, “As long as I am with you, I am happy.”
She bit back tears as she continued, “If you want to go back, then lets go back. We can stay there forever if you wished it- we can get away from here, forget everyone and everything from here.”
She leaned forward and pressed a kiss to his forehead, unable to blink back a few tears. “As long as I am with you…” She pulled away and gave him a genuine, though watery, smile.
“I am happy.”
Alex didn’t doubt she’d keep the promise to kill him if he disappeared again, he just didn’t see her winning that fight. Then, of course, he was reminded that this was his wife he was thinking this about, and he had to stop. It wouldn’t come to that, no matter how possessive she was - how possessive either of them were.
“Good,” he murmured, something content settling back into his icy heart as she, in her own way, told him how much she loved him. There was always the possibility that she was lying to him, but it didn’t seem as though that was the case, considering how drunk she was.
“If you want to go, we can, but I’m not spending an hour talking to the Sisters again. I appreciate their kindness but I’m not that thrilled about how badly they painted me as a child.”
Not that it would have been hard for them. Even Alex was aware that he’d been an ungrateful brat as a child. Now, he’d turned into a little more of a gracious man - he was still a little bit of a brat, though.
“We could, you know. Money’s no issue. Oh, I could take you to England, where Mama lived, show you where I got my accent,” he hummed, smiling against the top of her head. He pulled her back until he lay against the arm of the sofa, brushing her fiery hair from her face. Don’t think about it, just do it. “We could always stay here. Right here. I don’t want to move.”

bartender-by-day:
The moment Evelyn was laid on the couch, her eyes snapped open. She was back.
He was back.
It felt strange being here. Her eyes took in everything- the bookshelf that held their combined book collection, the piano in the far left corner, the dining room table, the ceiling that somehow still had blood on it- the thoughts stopped as Alex returned.
She glanced at the bowl and gave a soft snort. It was a gift from her parents, it came in a set of four different bowls, and they were the ugliest blue she’d ever seen but they were her favorite- their favorite. He was… considerate, sometimes.
As a blanket was set over her shoulders and the question asked, Evelyn launched herself at him, the blanket falling from her shoulder as she wrapped her arms tightly around his neck. “You’re not allowed to leave,” she murmured, burying her face into his neck. “You’re not allowed to leave me again.”
Slowly, she pulled away and sat back on the couch, pulling the blanket over her body and watched his expressions. “Of course I want you to stay. Stupid.” Her face remained neutral though there was a slight glint of joy in her eyes. “Why would I send away the only person I’ve wanted around all month?”
Despite feeling like this was a stranger’s house initially, Alex was gradually understanding that this was their house, and that it only felt different because he’d left. His fault, then. As usual. He didn’t feel bad about that, but it still annoyed him.
He’d actually missed the way she hugged him. He liked how it felt, how she really threw herself into it, and his thoughts moved to their relationship in general.
Incredible, really, that she’d stayed with him for this long.
Alex sighed, one arm snaking around her shoulders and pulling her into a hug. “Fine, I’ll be here when you wake up,” he said. “And that’s a promise.”
Gently, absently, he hummed an old tune, glancing around the room. It was amazing, really, that they had all of this. Together, too. Alex hadn’t ever thought he’d have a relationship with anyone that would last for such a long time, much less that he’d enjoy it for so long.
“Remember,” he murmured, “when we went to Paris... And you threatened to push me in the Seine? I almost wanted you to. I felt like I was in a dream that whole time. We should go back.”
The trust of the innocent is the liar’s most useful tool.

keep your friends close, but your enemies closer
like really, very close
intimately close
so close that you can feel your enemies breath on your neck
and you shiver with hatred and… anticipation?
turn around and look deep into your enemies eyes, letting your gaze drag down to their lips, your eyes intense with desire. push your enemies up against the wall.
make out with your enemies.
your friends, who are still close, are super uncomfortable and kinda grossed out
@heartlesslies but isnt this kinda them at some level tho

Evelyn wasn’t sure how she got into Alex’s car, but she did. His coat was wrapped around her shoulders as she shivered, her shoes off so she could curl into a ball on the seat. Her socked feet crossed each other, her heels digging into the seat so she wouldn’t slide.
Every once in a while, her eyes would shut and they’d be closer to home, until she was woken up by the feel of the car stopping. Her eyes snapped open only to find them at a red light so she looked over at him. She felt a weak smile come over her lips as her eyes wandered his profile, and she couldn’t help but whisper, “I missed you.”
They made it home in no time and Evelyn looked back to Alex again. “I… need help getting insde,” she slurred. “Can’t - can’t see straight.” She then winced as she remembered something. “D-don’t go in the kitchen… think there’s still… broken glass… everywhere.”
The drive was quiet. Solemn. Alex wasn’t used to it being so serious like this, wasn’t used to being concerned. He drove slowly, maybe too slowly, as though he were carrying a newborn. He braked softly - at this time of night, there was nobody around, but he was still conscious of keeping every gear change perfectly on the mark so he wouldn’t jolt her.
“All right,” he said softly, opening the door and going around to her side, carefully helping her from the car. She didn’t look as though she were going to throw up, but he’d grab a bowl.
He helped her inside, feeling strangely as though he were stepping into a stranger’s house. Even the living room looked different, somehow. It was someone else’s house, and though Alex was never the most cautious man he still felt as though he were trespassing.
Gently, he put her down on the sofa, going into the kitchen to get a bowl, ignoring the glass shards for now, though they crunched underfoot. So often they’d used this bowl to make cakes, playfully pinched each other while cooking or doing the dishes. Ignore the glass.
Alex took his shows off before going back in to find Evelyn, place the bowl next to her on the floor, and find a blanket. He didn’t know if she wanted him to be there, but it was worth a try.
“Ev,” he said, placing the blanket carefully around her shoulders, “d’you want me to stay here?”
bartender-by-day:
Evelyn felt her heart break at his first question. He really didn’t get it, and it tore her apart inside. “I mean, stop leaving me alone.” She demanded tiredly, running a hand through her hair. “Stop… just up and leaving me behind. You didn’t even tell me where you were going or IF you’d be back…”
She wanted to let this go. She really did. But it was so hard when after all this time they’d been together, he was still, in her eyes, unsure about them. “You might be here now but where were you when I needed you all month? Where the fuck did you go to?” She asked, not even angry anymore, just sad and confused.
At his apology, she gave him a weak smile. “I know you are. I know you’re sorry, I can see it in your eyes. But your ‘sorry’s aren’t worth much right now.” She admitted, the small smile falling off her face.
Her heart jumped at the prospect of going home with him. She wouldn’t wake up alone this time. She wouldn’t wake up sad this time. But he needed to understand the seriousness of this. Of how much he actually hurt her.
He’d be sleeping on the couch tonight, for one.
Slowly, she got off the ground and sighed, running her hands over her arms as she shivered, swaying in place. Ugh, she was much more drunk than she anticipated she’d be. Her eyes met his and she stumbled forward and into him. “Lets go home, please,” she begged softly into his shirt, her eyes beginning to feel heavy.
Alex wanted to say something, to tell her ‘of course I came back’. Because there was no way he wouldn’t; it hadn’t crossed his mind.
“Okay,” he said, pushing everything else he wanted to say down. She didn’t want his apologies, she didn’t want his excuses. Alex felt as though he were beginning to understand. “Okay.”
He spent a moment calming himself, running his fingers through her tangled hair. First thing he’d do when they got back would be to brush her hair, maybe run her a bath. Something silly, something domestic like that. He still wasn’t sure what had made him run out in the first place; she was beautiful. Even when she looked at him like he’d killed her.
“Come on,” he said softly, guiding her towards the ladder. “Be careful, okay. I’ll go down first. I’m driving.”
He let go of her, making sure she could stand up, and descended the ladder. All he wanted was to get her back home.

“At what point do you just… Forswear women forever?”
And somehow, he kept coming up with new ways to flip him off. This time he actually seemed angry.
[If you hadn’t been a heartless prick and actually BEEN there for her, this wouldn’t have happened. Your WIFE STABS HERSELF, and ALL YOU’RE CONCERNED ABOUT IS LAUGHING AT ME? FUCK OFF.]

“I only understand a bit of ASL, dear, but I can only retort with something along the lines of asking you if stabbing yourself in some self-absorbed Romeo and Juliet type melodrama was really the best solution.”
