You’re heading back home for the night; maybe you’re clocking in from work or have just finished your evening classes when come across a large box in front of the door of your apartment. It’s carefully wrapped with a silk box, with a note tapped to the front. ‘I’ll come back for the body in a month, dead or alive’ You’re hesitant at first but eventually decided to open the thing, the content not quite what you’re expecting; you find the body of a nineteen year old boy. He’s blindfolded and both his feet and hands are tied together, the exposed sections of his face are scratched up and when you lean a little closer you swear you smell blood.
What’s your decision?
A) Call the police department or an ambulance; the kid isn’t your problem.
B) Untie him and bring him inside your apartment; he was a gift after all.
C) Ignore the box completely; you’ll let someone else deal with it entirely.

[MSG]: I'm a fool for thinking i was special to you....
The woman shuffled through the folds of the couch at the sudden notification of receiving a text message. She nearly dropped the phone when she finally found it reading over what he had sent, a painful pinching sensation forming in the pit of her stomach. It was sudden that for a moment she struggled to string together a sensical thought pattern, her concentration shattered from nerves as she tried to think of what could of upset him. She didn’t re-call anything in particular but then again she had missed something.
[Text Message]: I don’t want to fight with you right now.
[Text Message]: You’re much more than special to me, you know that.
[Text Message]: Why are you being like this all of the sudden? You’ve been acting strange lately.
The pair had spent the most of the evening 'attempting' to make a practice cake for her daughter's incoming birthday party. However the results were not pretty; they had managed to set off the smoke detector more than once, they had burnt several of the first few tries and now not only was the floor converted in floor but their shirts were stained as well. Eventually they decided to call it a night and after spending an hour and a half sweeping and mopping the kitchen, she excused herself to their bathroom to see if she could get some of the floor out of her shirt. Closing the door behind her, she pulled her shirt over her head and placed it in the sink, beginning to dampen it just a bit. She was about to start scrubbing when the reflection in the mirror caused her to pause mid-action, discolored markings and scratches coating the above her collarbone and most of her upper back area. Lost in thought she barely remembered not locking the door, taken back when the other giggled the handle and began walking in. "Yah! I'll be out in five minutes. Get out! Get out!"
The woman propped herself onto the counter, her legs dangling off of the edge. Humming softly she held a mug of warm milk in one of her hands, glancing over at the clock every now and then. She had spent the morning fixing all the messes the children had made the day before, wiping dried spills and giving the floor an extra mopping. She was expecting company around noon so she really wanted the place to be clean before they showed up, however it seemed that they were running late. They hadn’t texted or phoned with a reason but she figured it was probably traffic related, most people were just beginning their lunch break around that time. Caught up in her thoughts the sudden
Caught up in her own thought pattern she found herself a bit startled by the sudden pounding sounds that came from her door. It wasn’t their usual style of knocking by she chalked it up to them trying to something new. Putting down her mug she wiped her hands on the front of her pants before calling out to them, as she made her way over. “I’m coming! You don’t have to knock like a caveman, you know” She chuckled rolling her eyes playfully before she unlocked the door and pulled it open. However what she was faced with was far from what she had been expecting; there was no one there. She had definitely heard someone knocking, it was unmistakable.
Kahi was just about to head back inside when she glanced down by chance, noticing the box for the first time. It wasn’t wrapped or anything, just a plain cardboard box. Leaning down she picked it up carefully, a heavy sensation forming in the pit of her stomach and at the time she couldn’t place why. Opening the folds of the box there was a moment of confusion as she peered closer inside before she released a high pitched scream, dropping it to the ground; a pool of blood seeping out along several large chunks of flesh.

Kahi was on the way back to her apartment when she came across a group of men in the middle of an argument. They took up a large section of the sidewalk yet she little reason why she couldn’t just squeeze herself behind them without any issues. It was late and she hadn’t made any dinner beforehand for her children because of her schedule, therefore she wanted to get home as soon as possible. However apparently the universe was out to get her that night because as soon as she began to pass by them, their verbal argument turned into a physical one. The nineteen year old tried to maneuver herself out of the way as quickly as she could but wasn’t quite fast enough, she nearly stumbled over as she received a heavy blow to her chest area. Coughing lightly she dipped her head in a semi bow, nodding a few times as she attempted to avoid worsening the situation. “I’m fine. I’m fine. I’ll be going now”

Well, there’s really not anything wrong with that. But there’s dreams and then reality.
"I think that dreams are kind of like the work in progress state of reality, some take longer to register than other's. What about you? What's your dream?" Kahi asked the woman giving her full attention, resting her chin in the palm of her hand. It was nice listening to others talking their dreams and goals, it made the world seem less big and more relatable.

“Crap! Sorry about that! Wasn’t looking where I was going. Here, I’ll get you a new jacket…”
“Need a ride?”

“Seems like we’re gonna be stuck on this train for an extra three hours.”
“What’s your name?”
“Thank you.”
“You just saved my life!”
“Move the fuck out of my way.”
“Watch where you’re going!”
“Asshole.”

Kahi read over the message several times unsure of how to respond at first, a bit puzzled at the suddenness of the question. Tapping her fingers against the tiles of her counter she decided not to answer right away. The text lingering over her head as if it was the first time she had really thought about it. Humming quietly she hovered over her phone, scrunching her nose as she traced over the discolored markings along the upper area of her arm. He wasn’t good with her children at all. He was constantly drunk out of his mind or in a hung-over coma.He was violent, getting arrested at least twice a month. What did she see him? Absolutely nothing, however it was far too late to back out now.
[Text Message]: He’s actually a really nice guy, you should give him a chance!
"You could have killed someone!"
"Where do you even find this sort of thing?”
“Unusual weather we’re having, ain’t it?”
[MSG]:How serious is it between you two?
The woman’s phone vibrated against the wood flooring, notifying her of a text message. The screen was partly cracked down the middle, however seemed to be working fine. Disregarding the cellphone she went around the living room with the broom and dust pan, clearing away the broken glass and shards of a vase. Next, she trudged into the washroom and removed her makeup for the night. Cringing silently she found herself tracing over the newfound the discolored mark under her eye with the tips of her fingers before they wandered to the scratch marks bellow her collar bone.
Kahi yawned giving herself one last look over in the mirror before returning to the living room, retrieving the phone and finally reading the message. Sinking to the floor, she debated what to text back scratching the back of her next.
[Text Message]: Are you talking about the guy that you saw me with earlier?
[Text Message]: He’s nobody important.
[Text Message]: Just a coworker that walked me home.
She sent the messages, pulling the tips of her mouth into a somewhat forced smile. An attempt to feel less guilty about lying. Turning off her phone before shutting off all the lights, she crawled under the blanket next to a muscular figure. Sighing into the pillow, her body stiffened when she was pulled close. Another day come and gone, another day lived.
