I've never stared at someone out of romantic or lustful interest. The only reasons I ever "check" someone out is either that I like their outfit, they look semi-familiar, or I like their eye color.
The only times I ever do scan based on looks is if someone else points them out as their interest.

'Being happy alone' implies that we need to be self-independent and not rely on anyone. But it's essential to create connections and have interactions with other people. And being happy for yourself will help create our boundaries which will then filter and foster healthy relationships.
In my healing journey, I realized the masked me is an ISTP 9w8. But in truth, my authentic self is an ESTP-A 4W5.
The mask may be fake, but it was my way of survival. I wholeheartedly recognize that it is a side of me and it deserves compassion and respect for shielding me from harm in the best way it could. But it's time to shed off the cocoon.
Thank you, past me, for trying to keep up in societal conformity and striving for 'perfection' per my parents' strict regime. But my inner child is going to be in control now and steer me back to the right direction towards realignment and happiness.
I've recently learned that it's okay to be your authentic self. You can learn how to limit certain interactions that may hurt or offend others, but it's not okay to totally strip or hide away something that is a part of your personality.
All the masking and the walls I've built around myself has only made me into a meek, porcelain doll that people were still unappreciative of. But I've been taking off all the masks I've placed on myself and returning back to the me who was always happy, didn't care of what others opinions of me were, easily discarding (instead of clinging onto) those who were not good for my well-being, and letting go of obsessing over my looks and being presentable every five seconds.
It's a slow process and my anxiety does set me back quite often; but there has been some positive progress and these small victories is what keeps me going.
When people point out that they like an account I follow too because they like that person's songs or movies and ask me which of their work I like...
Uhmm.. I followed them because of what they post: their selfies or hobbies. I don't know what their professions are...
If I ever pointed out that I think someone is good-looking, I don't mean it whole-heartedly as in I'll physically want to throw myself on top of them or I'm head-over-heels or need their number asap.
It's more of a passing comment like: 'look, the sky is blue.' It's an obvious statement. It doesn't have any deeper meaning to it.
I blended in so well in heteronormativity that if I come out as aroace now, my social circle won't even believe it. But I really don't like when people automatically assume that I want to date or hook up with others when I eye at them or comment on their beauty. I just like them aesthetically!
I may sometimes complain about wanting a relationship, but whenever an encounter happens that can potentionally lead to one I grimace and avoid it entirely.
People are always so in awe about how composed I am when misfortune happens. I'm not. I suppress my feelings and let it simmer in the background until it catches on fire.
