“Golly, then I guess I should brush up on my techno mumbo-jumbo. And I hate to point out the obvious, but I’m pretty sure she’s gonna notice when all your shitty grades start turning stellar. Got a fallback for that?”
“That’s what my patented three point defense is for. One- never tweak a grade by more than ten percent. Two- twice per teacher, per year, maximum. Three- and this is the important one- bump up a handful of other kids to avoid suspicion. I could add you to the roster.”
shaylevitt:
“I’m gonna pretend you said something more… normal.”
“Pretend whatever you want.”
ziggysimmons:
“Gee, didn’t peg you for such a computer whiz kid. Must be a handy trick to have up your sleeve.”
“I don’t think anybody’s said whiz kid since this operating system was relevant, but sure. It’s convenient.”
“So... Are you gonna be cool about this or what?”

crownjulia:
“No, I don’t think you understand. You can’t elect a dead girl to homecoming court,” Julia snipped. It hadn’t even been a week into class, and already people were wanting to do write-in ballots for Emily. “I was on the committee last year, I think I know how it works.” Besides Em being dead, Julia was pretty sure you couldn’t be both prom and homecoming queen. It was ostentatious.
“Oh, come on. It’s an honorary thing, like Heath Ledger’s Oscar.” Heather raised an eyebrow, a little amused by how seriously the other girl took such trivial rituals. “She was gonna win anyway, right?”
itsrajparekhbro:
“Better than I’d expected, though I have alcohol to thank for that. You should try it next time, might help.” An eyebrow quirked in her direction as he noted the way she seemed to sink between the cushions. A pause. “Please tell me this hasn’t scared you away from parties; you’ll be a horrible influence on Sam. ”
Heather breathed something of a laugh at his suggestion. As if she would have faced that shit sober. “I’m not scared,” She intoned, picking idly at a hole in the knee of her leggings to avoid lying straight to his face, “It’s too fucking early in the school year for that.” She smirked. “Besides, I’m pretty sure Sam will do what Sam wants no matter what. I’m not much of a factor.”
leah-burke:
“Kinda fucking gross. No one wants to pull an Exorcist and feel like they’re throwing up fucking demon bile.” Heaving a sigh, Leah had fired back with a serious lack of conviction. The night before still sat heavy in her skull, throbbing and feverish, and her apathy seemed to ( unfortunately ) only encourage Heather to continue prattling on. “Go wild, Heather. Don’t let anyone keep you from living out your dream of a fucking monochromatic digestive system.”
“Not just the digestive system. Black lungs. Black heart...” She trailed off, looking up at the snarky girl from under mascara-thick eyelashes. She looked like she might strike her, so this had probably gone on long enough. “Lighten up, Leah, I’m not serious.” Peeling the Oreo package open again, she stuffed a sleeve-worth into the deep pockets of her parka. “My mom likes Oreo’s. But fuck it, right? What’s she ever done for me?” She dropped her basket on the filthy linoleum floor and kicked it behind a Campbell’s soup display, still facing Leah as her feet carried her slowly backwards down the aisle. “At least I got the pleasure of running into you.” The statement was so heavily drenched in sarcasm that it might have come all the way back around to sincerity.
shaylevitt:
“Mysterious is right. Come on, easy question. Favourite… Movie?”
“A Serbian Film.”
samitaparekh:
Sam shot Heather a small smile in return, a quick nod in a agreement paired with it. Their relationship was one Sam didn’t quite understand, but seemed to work for the both of them. The number of people Sam genuinely enjoyed being around dwindled, so she tended to do what she could to keep those she could stand around. Heather surprised Sam with her question, seemingly out of the blue. Shrugging, Sam regained her composure to answer. “There’s always room for improvement. You’ve come a long way, so that’s not to say you’ve still got a ton of catching up to do, but I don’t think they’d hurt.” Sam was infamous for her brutal honesty, but she tried to dial it down around Heather, for whatever reason. “Do you still want to continue our sessions?”
“Cool. I think- Yeah, I think that would be cool.” She tapped at the table absently, nervous energy pooling into her fingertips and making them dance. It was essentially what she wanted to hear, and she knew what she wanted to say next- if she could ever figure out how. "And maybe we could...” She started, before trailing off so completely it seemed for a moment like she’d given up. With a small sigh, she tried again. “Go see a movie sometime? If you’re into that kind of thing.” It felt very much like she was asking Sam out on a date, so she weakly added “Or food, maybe? Whatever. Friend stuff.” Friend stuff? Jesus.
I'm not even in this RP but I totally stalk this blog because I'm in love with your interpretation of heather tbh. Keep on being awesome!
wow this made my day thank you so much !!
shaylevitt:
“You really know how to make someone curious, huh?”
“It's all the black. Makes me look mysterious.”
gracie-vallejo:
heather-cohen:
“I- Fuck it. Whatever.”
“See you around Heather.”
leah-burke:
Leah stared - eyes narrowing, eyebrows furrowing - as if she just couldn’t quite figure out if this girl was for real. A critical retort was on her tongue, barely bit back in time as it struck her that a rebuff might redirect the conversation to forbidden territory. And so, humouring her with the last of her dwindling patience, Leah replied, “‘Course it fucking would, if that’s all you’re livin’ off of. Don’t be stupid.”
Heather couldn’t help the ghost of a grin that slipped onto her lips. Leah’s insulting, dismissive response wouldn’t be considered a victory by most, but by sheer comparison Heather relished in it. “That’d be kinda cool. Kinda metal.” Her eyes widened in a way that was meant to express excitement, but always looked a little manic instead. “I’m running out of ways to wear black on the outside,” She said with a glance down at her shadow-like attire, “May as well start on the inside.”
tessa-bryant:
A smile played across Tessa’s lips. She had clearly thrown the girl. “Is walking around…fun? I’m enjoying the fresh air I suppose.”
The mention of fresh air made Heather’s fingers twitch over the pack of cigarettes in her pocket. It was the reason she’d come outside originally- before she’d been distracted by the distinctive click of a shutter. “Sounds boring as fuck.”
samitaparekh:
The excitement Sam felt was fleeting as Heather’s demeanor changed. Sighing, Sam deflated and waved off the other girl’s words. “It’s whatever. Just, check into for me, yeah? I’d appreciate it. Count it as payment or something for tutoring sessions if it works out. Deal?” Sam’s brow perked, still hopeful that Heather might be able to dig something up.
“Deal.” Heather replied, smiling wryly. She was grateful that Sam acted so casually, though it was clear the lens was important to her. Three months ago, when her mother had first informed her that she would be seeing a tutor over the summer, she hadn’t been expecting Sam. Despite her GPA, she had an effortless cool about her that was hard to respond to with anything but respect. Heather found herself looking forward to their meetings, sometimes even grasping what the fuck Sam was talking about. She was more than intelligent; she was wise. “Hey Sam,” She asked tentatively, “Do you think when school starts, I’ll still need... this?” She meant tutoring, but the word was thick with embarrassment and stuck to her tongue.
