Yang dropped to one knee, panting as her aura flickered. Sweat dripped off her brow and splashed into the dirt as Adam walked towards her. âDid you honestly think you could beat me? I let you live last time, now I'll make sure you never come between us again.â Yang looked behind her at Blake. She was laying on her stomach, unable to move as she watched Yang and Adam fight. Yang grit her teeth and shut her eyes. Adam placed the tip of his sword at Yangâs neck. Blake's eyes filled with tears as she reached out towards Yang. âYangâŚ!â Adam drew his arm back and activated his semblance. âIt's over.â He brought the blade down for the finishing blow and there was silence, the waterfall crashing into the water below. When the dust settled Yang was still in one piece, her prosthetic arm grasping Adamâs sword arm. Adam tried to rip his arm away but Yangâs grip was solid. With an angry growl he pointed Blush at her head. Before he could pull the trigger, however, Yang yanked him to the ground and used her free hand to land a devastating punch to his chest, sending him rolling across the bridge. Adam pushed himself to one knee and scowled at her. Yang stood as a fiery gold light surrounded her. When she opened her eyes they were a brilliant red with fierce look of determination. âYou're wrong. I'm just getting started.â She slammed her firsts together, triggering an explosion of energy that seemed to surround her body. Using her gauntlets, she propelled herself forward. Adam sliced horizontally in anticipation of her dodging. Yang used her gauntlet to stop herself just out of Adam's range, planted her right foot, and lunged forward with a powerful cross. Adam barely had time to block the attack with his sword. Before Adam could activate his semblance, Yang used her right gauntlet to spin and landed an elbow to the side of Adam's head followed by a shotgun punch to his right wrist in anticipation of the reactionary swing, knocking Wilt from his hand. As soon as he lost his weapon, Yang delivered a flurry of blows, each creating a small fiery explosion upon impact. The final hit was a right cross to the face that sent Adam tumbling. âHad enough?â Adam pushed himself to his hands and knees as his aura flickered. On the ground in front of him was Wilt. He grasped the handle and got to his feet, panting. He sheathed his blade and centered his stance on Yang, gritting his teeth. Yang clenched her fists. âDon't.â Adam tightened his grip on Wiltâs hilt. âWhy, are you afraid?!â He activated his semblance and unleashed all the energy he stored in one attack. The attack connected, cleaving Yang in two. A demented smirk formed on Adam's face but quickly turned to shock as Yangâs form faded. His eyes widened as he turned to see Yang next to him poised to strike. He raised Wilt to block, bracing the blade against his arm. Yang put her full force into a right cross. There was a moment of hesitation after she connected with the blade before a final push shattered it and Adamâs aura. The force knocked Adam back several feet. Yang looked over at Blake. Blake pushed herself to one knee, holding Gambol Shroudâs sheath in one hand and holding her side with the other. Blake nodded towards the ground next to Yang. Yang followed Blakeâs gaze then looked back and nodded. Adam got to his feet, growing angrily as he pointed Blush at Yang and fired. Yang blocked the blast with her gauntlets as Blake rushed forward with her sheath. Adam blocked most of her attacks with Blush, suffering a few cuts from the exchange. He used Blush to parry Blakeâs attack and swung what was left of Wiltâs blade at her throat. The attack passed harmlessly through a shadow clone as Blake disengaged. Yang then lunged through the illusion, catching Adam off guard with a shotgun punch that knocked Blush from his hand followed by the sound of metal piercing flesh. Adamâs eyes widened as he looked over his shoulder. Blake was standing behind him, looking down with the lower half of Gambol Shroud in his back. âIâm sorry, Adam. You brought this on yourselfâŚâ Adam flinched as another blade pierced his body. Yang was holding the to half of Gambol Shroud in her right hand, driving it between his ribs. The two stepped away as Adam dropped to dropped to the ground. Blake's and fell to her sides as she looked down at Adam. The sound of the waterfall crashed in her ears and tears filled her eyes. She couldn't help but feel detached. Yang pulled Blake into a hug, resting one hand at the small of her back and the other on the back of her head. Blake's heart pounded in her chest as the world around her seemed to fade away. âI'm sorry. He didn't give us a choice. But we're still here, together. And right now, that's all that matters.â Blake looked up at Yang with tears in her eyes and her heart racing. âYang, IâŚâ Yang looked at her and opened her mouth to reply only to have Blake press their lips together, pushing her fingers into Yang's hair. Yangâs heart skipped a beat and her eyes widened but she quickly relaxed and returned the kiss. A massive explosion in the distance caused them to break the kiss. âI guess stealth is out the window.â Yang said and looked back at Blake. âWe are so talking about this when we get to Atlas.â
