A (re)introduction

Hi! I'm Heather (they/them) and as of writing this message I have not been active for a long time. But I am maybe hoping to change that :) I am transgender, I speak okay French, and I don't know what the hell I'm doing with my life, but it's okay because I can hurt The Character to cope.

As you may have guessed, this is a whump blog. Anything particularly intense or mature will be tagged. I specialize in lady whump because the girls deserve pain too!! Everything from living weapons to vivisection to kidnapping to soft caretaking.

Here's a link to my old intro which is severely outdated and contains a lot of links to stuff I've written that vary a lot in how much I like them but I don't want to take any of it down, so you can take a peek if you like (especially the Ultraviolet stuff, it's good).

“I feel weird” is just my FAVOURITE whump line. It implies that Whumpee is unwell or hurt, and probably a bit confused and disoriented…. they don’t quite understand what’s happening to them, but something isn’t right.

hey! do you have head canons for like a parental caretaker? ty!

i am ALWAYS having thoughts about parental caretakers, it is one of the most compelling character dynamics always. i’ve posted about this before but i’ll try to keep these fresh-

special enjoyment lately of when whumper is aware of the dynamic between whumpee and caretaker - whether they’ve acknowledged it themselves or not - and uses it to taunt or threaten or belittle whumpee. mocking them, asking if they’re crying for mommy/daddy, does [name] know the way you see them? do they know how pathetic you are?

the first time the way caretaker or whumpee feels about the other coming out in some highly intense moment of whumpee being hurt or in the hospital or being rescued. calling out for them by a parental title or caretaker’s agonized that’s my fucking kid.

a potential dynamic between caretaker’s biological/legal child and whumpee… a friend of mine did a fic series that explored this gorgeously. maybe caretaker’s kid sees this and thinks of whumpee as a sibling before either of the others do. the potential for whumpee to feel like they’re intruding, like they’re taking something from caretaker’s real child.

this will always hit best for me if whumpee had abusive parents. nothing will land like that does. especially if there’s some opportunity for there to be a moment where caretaker defends or stands up for whumpee to their parent(s).

moments of caretaking that are acutely like the way a parent cares for a child, only it’s necessary because of how badly hurt or how sick whumpee is. helping someone eat or drink. helping them dress or undress or bathe. caretaker gently and carefully washing whumpee’s hair while whumpee trembles and cries silently and tries not to think about how much they feel like someone’s very well cared-for child. maybe in a way they never have before.

the guilt and shame and reluctance on both parts to acknowledge this relationship because they don’t need me like that, i’m forcing something on them that they didn’t ask for, they’re an adult they don’t want this, they already have a family, this is overbearing/needy/pathetic/desperate/so clearly a trauma thing.

something I really like in parental caretaker - whumpee relationships is the taboo of it all ... especially for a whumpee that has been traumatized by a parental figure before + teen whumpee under caretaker's legal power.

parent - child relationships are incredibly unique considering the fact that they're the only ones that truly entail unconditional love ... and after missing out on it, it's very hard to get back. but you never really stop craving it, no matter how disgusted you feel about it. there's also the dilemma of having to position yourself as a "child" in said relationship, after such a long time of not being allowed to, and being embarrassed/concerned about the age they're currently at. because god, they want to cry, they want to scream, they want to curl up besides caretaker and never leave again out of fear of having to face the world again, but they know they can't. they shouldn't. there's something wrong with them...

on the caretaker's side I also think it's a delicate balance to strike. on one hand, whumpee does deserve to live out a childhood they never had, it's good that they're warming up, but whumpee is almost regressing. it's not particularly good for a healing journey, especially with separation anxiety in the mix. the older they get, the more interesting I find it to be, though I also really enjoy a younger whumpee who doesn't really want to put themselves back into a "Child" position since they equate it with powerlessness and abuse. I think a slow acceptance of it is also great...

whumpee whose body just. gives up on them. once they reach safety. they feel significantly weaker, needier, more tired, and they Hate it. they've been strong for so long, they've survived on their own through sheer willpower, and now they can barely stay upright for 5 minutes? it's revolting.

I also like the emotional aspect to this!!! they're significantly more sensitive with people that they trust. they used to get through awful, horrid nightmares, insults, abuse, everything, all with a brave face. now they're constantly tearing up, shutting down, reacting to so many things poorly.

whumpee whose blood has some sort of magical properties that are desirable to others and so they get tied down and get the blood forcefully taken from them

(which can be done in unethical and unsafe conditions!! or they can be kept there for weeks or even months or years, not to mention they'd be fucked from the constant blood loss)

I really like silent comfort.... maybe for a whumpee who's too embarrassed to truly let their guard down, to ask for care verbally and relish in it visibly, maybe for a caretaker who isn't great with words. loaded glances and signals, a familiar routine that they've both been accustomed to, cradling them in the dead of night without saying a word

sleep during recovery is so so important to me. hypervigilant whumpee choosing a small, enclosed space for sleep, in order to feel safe. only getting sleep for a few hours at a time, and being constantly exhausted. getting horrid nightmares every night, hating the thought of even laying down out of fear of them.

finally conking out at an unexpected time... falling asleep on caretaker's chest, taking a nap on the couch, falling asleep at their desk as they were working on something. caretaker picking them up and carrying them to bed, with whumpee unsure how they feel about it in the morning... caretaker surprised to see whumpee looking calm and relaxed for the first time....

having collaborative ocs with friends will have you saying shit like "what if scimble was bumpus wouldnt that be funny" and then like two weeks later its one of the most important pieces of lore you have

give it up for voice breaks everyone. round of applause for shaky whimpers, pained cries, distressed whining, keening in the back of the throat, that moment when a character tries so hard to keep talking but their voice cracks into a fluttery, weak little plea for help

Whump Prompt #4

Helpless Caretakers. Forced to watch Whumpee suffering and unable to intervene because:

They're separated by a physical barrier (cell bars / reinforced window / forcefield)

Doing so would mean breaking their cover and putting whumpee/the rest of the team/the mission at greater risk

Societal structures/laws don't allow them to.

They're held back by restraints / whumper's henchmen.

They're too injured/weak/otherwise disabled to be able to effectively intervene

They know that any efforts to intervene will make things worse for the whumpee long term.

They're watching a recording/live-stream.

Whumpee's suffering is necessary in some way (Ritual, activation of powers, powers)

They don't have the medical training / equipment / resources to treat whumpee

Their communication is impeded in some way (Gag/language barrier/tied hands)

leader stares at the bloodied bodies of their team in front of them. they feel their heart pounding in their ears.

"leader?" one of their remaining team uncurls and looks up at them.

in one breath, leader takes the grief from each loss and tucks it away in a box in the back of their brain. "it's okay. are you hurt?"

smaller than ever, they crawl over to leader and latch onto them, "i don't think so." they look past leader and immediately tuck their face into leader. "oh god. what are we going to do now?"

Whump prompt #5

Opportunities for casual/pointless/petty violence.

Shoving / dragging whumpee every time they need to start moving.

Slamming the whumpee's head down into the desk/table they're sitting at.

Throwing an item at whumpee to get their attention (preferably something fast, hard and heavy)

Whumper kicking/slapping/shaking whumpee awake as they walk past

Whumper grabbing whumpee's jaw every time they want whumpee to look at them,

Knocking whatever they're holding/carrying out of their hands.

Shoulder-barging/shoving whumpee into a wall every time whumper walks past them.

Dragging them upright by their collar/throat

Thumping 'playfully' on the shoulder/thigh at every opportunity.

And imagine this is whumpee's life. Constantly. All day, every day. I wonder what their state of mind would be like? Bonus points if this is so normalised that no-one reacts to it when it happens.

Easily one of my favorite Whump tropes is Whumpee being held down by two or more people, resulting in them being forced into witnessing or experiencing the terror of helplessness as they can do nothing but thrash and beg.

I love it when Whumpee is leaning on things. They're dizzy, nauseous, in too much pain to stand, or just plain tired, and they can't get by without some kind of support.

Leaning on cabinets and against walls in people's houses. Propping their head up with their hands at the dining table. Steadying themself against a banister on the stairs. Holding on to the post of the traffic light for dear life while they wait to cross the road because if they stand still unsupported they will fall to the ground.

It's such a small display of I am not feeling good, but once another character notices it becomes so obvious. This person is weak and vulnerable. Either I can help them, or I can hurt them further. It's not like they're in any position to stop me.
