In some ways it feels like time is moving so slowly to get there, but in others I know the time will fly by. I have news! 🎉 I am officially moving to Colorado! 💖🏔️ Yes, yes, I know my time returning to Chicago was very short lived. But one thing that I have learned in being back home is that I am truly a girl that belongs out west. No, I'm not returning to LA, as much as a piece of my heart will always be in California. But I've always loved Colorado and things have super aligned for this to manifest at this point and time in my life. I've missed being around mountains and I love all the nature and adventures that await in the Rocky Mountains. It was my dad's dream to retire in Colorado. Unfortunately, he never lived to see that day, but his dream has become my dream in many ways and I like to think that now he has the opportunity to live his dream through me - after all, his blood does run through my veins. Being back in the midwest temporarily has proved to me what I already knew long before that, that I just don't fit in here. It's like trying to cram a heart shaped peg into a square hole - it doesn't work. While LA couldn't bring all of my heart's desires, it was home for 15 years and it gave me exactly what I needed for the season I was there. I wouldn't have stayed there as long as I did otherwise. I don't feel that in Chicago. Being here has actually been rather depressing. God is this true. Remember making friends in childhood? It was SO EASY! You'd see a peer in the classroom or on the playground and basically say to yourself "I pick this one," ask them to play and the rest was history, viola! You had a friend. Today everyone is avoidant and/or focused on themselves all the time. And don't get me wrong, taking care of yourself is important, but damn community is valuable too and as human beings we were not created to be alone but to have a tribe that vibes with us surround us in love and joy. Last year two really important friendships bit the dust in my life. While it's true I do have many friends the issue is they are mostly superficial and surface level. No one really knows me on a deep and intimate level. I don't have anyone I can call and count on to hear my problems at 3AM and as far as I know I'm not on anyone's 3AM call list. In part I may keep distance with others now because every time I have let those walls down I've been betrayed and/or abandoned. Making friends is easy. Keeping friends is hard. I mean, real true blue friends. Truthfully, I don't need a TON of super close friends. I'm cool with a small handful in keeping my circle tight. But for now I can't even form half a circle. It's quite isolating.
