& stolen away ; ft. @heavengoodbye
Tallie had grown accustomed to her small, claustrophobic microcosm in Melbourne. Everyday was the same, and she had settled in this stagnant way of life. Now she was given the opportunity to broaden her horizons, and she was going to take advantage of it. A part of her craved adventure as though she was consumed with some ravenous hunger for new experiences. So far, the trip had been fun she’d spent the first day shopping for appropriate clothing, going on a hot chocolate related escapade, & flirting with some of her fellow travellers. One that had caught her attention immediately was Jackson Maywright.
Their conversation had slowly progressed from intelligent banter to shameless flirting. There was a certain darkness that seemed to emanate off him that drew her nearer, that made her want to know more about him. He’d certainly caught Talie’s intrigue. However whenever it came to anything resembling a romantic endeavour, Talie had a tendency to run far away. She was notorious in her group of friends of doing a walk of shame nearly every time she happened to have a one night stand. Talie tend to run before she development any serious feelings for her object of affection. This was why she was careful around Jackson, keeping her cards very deftly tucked under so as not to reveal them right away.
Tonight, she was meeting him for drinks. Choosing a form fitting black dress, some red pumps, a black coat to shield her from the cold and a classic red lip as her attire, she arrived at the lobby. Her hair fell past her shoulder in soft waves, and she ran a hand through her hair. A nervous habit, a tell to anyone that knew her. When she spotted him, she waited a brief moment before approaching him. “ hey, you ready to go? ”
Why did you choose to run? It was a question that each of the travelers on this particular escapade were faced with, one that was worded differently in each of their minds and yet -- the question still stood. It was one that picked at the center of his own brain: why would a man who seemingly had everything drop it all and swear themselves to the name of a vagabond? The intrigue lay with the desire to break away from a schedule, to actually choose what to do with his free time as opposed to having it dictated for him. Oh, the ever-rough life of the rich white boy. Jack was painfully aware of how trite it all sounded but ... here he was.
Meeting new people always put a grimace on his face. There was a mask that shifted over his features, allowed him to square his shoulders up and put on a grand facade for these people so they would be led to believe he was kind, nice, played well with others. He was just as rotten as those he scoffed about -- manipulative, spoiled, easy to use others for his own personal gain and throw them aside. Starting off on that foot would be bad news and so ... so he smiled, so he allowed his charm to show in full, so he was genuine with his compliments and when it came time to point fingers at the asshole of the crowd it wouldn’t be him.
Asking Cherry for drinks wasn’t hard. It was something he was used to, and she was admittedly very beautiful -- the kind of company he wouldn’t mind getting sloshed with. Hands were in his pocket, watch marking time at night and ticking softly as he waited for her to appear. The hair was a dead giveaway: bright as a marker and heralding her arrival, Jack saw her before she even really approached and he surmised the way her fingers tangled into the muss of strawberry tresses. They looked delightfully soft, he decided. “Ready as I’ll ever be,” the blond lion smirked, offering his arm in as gentlemanly a way as he could muster. “You look lovely.”
