I was indeed! I've been playing roms for years and it's only happened to me maybe three times. And it just had to happen to this file.

(Apparently too long for a reply, so answering this way. Hope you don’t mind.)

Oh god I have several. My favorite one though is things got botched in Slateport causing Aqua to flee the region and lay low for a while and the protag was forced to come home because things seem to be dangerous lately and parents are worried. (Especially after rival was taken hostage by Aqua during the escape.) Magma however had no one to stop them, and while the meteorite didn’t work, they did eventually get a hold of the orbs (yes, both in order to keep Aqua from getting one) and Groudon was unleashed. Cut to five years later in a sort of post-apocalyptic Hoenn that has been withering away under the endless sun. Protag and Rival meet up under unfortunate circumstances, but decide to flee parental and team superior supervision and go on their own to attempt to set things right.

Other favorite is that Hoenn is actually the dream world of someone brought on with the bond to the Unown. Kind of like in the third movie, the whims of fancy account for things like the constant sandstorm, ash fields, weird rain patterns that never floods, abandoned ship being perfectly safe even though it should be too dangerous to tour, ect. Turns out the teams, while extreme, are honestly trying their own methods of destroying this Created World in order to free the island from it’s accidental imprisonment.
