Hello! Thanks for your interest in my boy! I want to preface everything by reminding everyone that while Carver is a little shit, he is not evil. Brash and temperamental he may be, he's just a young man desperate to prove himself. And while I prefer the Carver ends up a Grey Warden route, I will also write Templar Carver, a route where he was seduced by the idea of a job and a position to maybe help his family. ( Keep in mind he was denied a place in the city's guard by Aveline so being a Templar wasn't even his first choice. )

If you're a person who can't handle nuanced characters, characters that make mistakes, or if you're generally just an annoying individual who screams about morality in regards to fictional mages and base people's ethics on how these very NOT REAL people are treated while are crickets about actual injustices in our world then my blog is not for you. Kindly shut up and block me. Characters like Carver or even Cullen are not your scapegoats to feel like an actual marginalized person and play morality or purity police. Mages are not real.

That above being said, Carver does have a lot of guilt over how he handles things in DA2 especially regarding Bethany's memory or if the eldest Hawke sibling is a mage. He deeply loves his family, but he's not perfect, imperfect characters are more interesting than perfect ones.

With that being said I'll just go over my general and basic rules!

I'm extremely crossover friendly, especially with other video games and fantasy worlds. I think inserting Carver into the other settings would be a fun plot, so feel free to throw all your characters at him.

Plotting is always good, but I feel like memes / prompts are the best form of icebreaker. Finding out you have writing chemistry with someone through meme responses is a great way to get plotting going. If you'd prefer to message me and throw ideas at the wall that's good as well!

Shipping is always open! Carver, despite his flaws. Is a romantic, he longs to be important to someone, whether it's romantic or platonic or even familial. He has that desire to be loved, cherished and wanted. If your character is interested in kissing him, please feel free! I have no rules regarding shipping, I'll ship anything provided both characters are of legal age.

I am well over the age of twenty-five at this point. Because of that, I will not write with anyone under the age of eighteen. No exceptions. This goes doubly so for writing anything mature themed.

Smut is an option with shipping partners, fade to black is also an option. I have no qualms with writing scenes in that nature, just depends on the vibes and writing partner.

Don't be an asshole, this translates to all forms of bigotry, or even just nagging me for replies. I'm a busy person and I try to write when I can as this is a hobby and a creative outlet for me, but don't be mean. You'll earn a block.

I do not partake in callout culture on Tumblr. I find it absurd, you will not find me reblogging call outs or getting involved with drama about FICTIONAL writing. That being said, if someone is being a creeper or a dangerous predator, I will make note of it and block said person. But if people are making a fuss over the topics someone chooses to write on their blogs then I will roll my eyes and quickly soft block, grow up.

Nothing burned a hole in his stomach faster than seeing how down Bethany was. He imagined their reunion for months upon disappearing with the wardens, finding out she was now a prisoner had left him so beyond angry. His fellow wardens had to hold him back from marching all the way back home to free her, and once more once the news of mother's murder had reached him. He had locked himself in his room and wept as quietly as he could, and once the anger had taken over his sorrow it took three of the wardens equal in his size to hold him back as he screamed, cursed and thrashed.

He was told that there was nothing he could do, but what he did with the wardens mattered and he hated that he knew they were right. He couldn't storm the circle and rescue Bethany. If Hawke could they would have by now, what difference could he make? Mother was gone, there was no reason to even visit for her alone. So he stayed, wrote letters to Hawke, Varric, Aveline and Isabela. Hoping, that one of them could give the letters he wrote for Bethany to her somehow.

She needed to know how much he missed her, how much he loved her. He didn't say it enough when they all were together, when they were a family.

When the day came when their small group of wardens was to traverse near Kirkwall, he made it his mission to visit her. With a blessing from Stroud, Maker protect that man for letting him go. He followed Isabela's instructions and after such a long time apart he was finally reunited with his other half.

And she sucked the air out of his lungs once they embraced.

Silent tears did mark their way down his cheeks and into the stubbled beard he was growing. He didn't bother to hide the fact that he cried like any other normal living person. He let it out as quietly as he could so the guards wouldn't notice. They didn't get to talk much, just a whispered I love you and I miss you leaves him in a rushed sense. They were on borrowed time, he would need to leave quickly to avoid detection and to rejoin the wardens.

"You're not losing me." He promises in a whisper, voice strained with emotion. "Never. I'm always thinking about you, about Hawke. About mother. You're all with me, every day I travel and I fight I think about you. Please, I promise I'll return, I'll fight, and I'll live, and you need to promise me the same, okay?" They were twins, the same age, but in this moment he needed to act like the older sibling. Channel Hawke as ridiculous as it sounded, this meeting was a gift, and he wouldn't waste it.

If his presence and his promise could steel her resolve even more he'd do it. There was nothing he wouldn't do.

"I know you're brave, Bethany. Braver than anyone in our family, but I need you to be the bravest you've ever been right now. I can't stay, you know that, if I get caught you'll be punished and I refuse to be the reason you get hurt. So please, you have to let me go."

Carver had hated Skyhold, it wasn't that the fortress wasn't grand or what the Inquisition was doing upset him, but ever since he stepped foot within these walls he felt like he was eighteen again. Alone, awkward and unwanted, feelings that he thought were long buried after ten years as a Grey Warden. He had become strong, confident, independent. He trained rookie wardens, killed darkspawn so easily, but the moment he joined his sibling at Skyhold he was right back to feeling ... worthless.

It wasn't exactly a secret that the wardens of Orlais screwed up, and that did little to make most of the Inquisition's forces take to Carver well, even if he was from Ferelden and the Free Marches. It didn't matter as he walked the walls and heard whispered comments, all the while hearing that dastardly song at the back of his head, calling to him like a siren, fingers gripping on his sanity ever just so. Easy to say he morphed right back into a grouchy wallflower and found himself glaring at nothing in particular more often than not.

At least until a surprising reunion happened and Ashe walked back into his life. Shit, he hadn't seen the man since they were both boys. Ashe had come to Lothering on a few separate occasions, and them being the same age meant they hit it off right away. It was hilarious how it was so easy to become fast friends as children, no ulterior motives, no judgements, just two boys with wooden swords running through the fields around the windmill. Two youths spread out on their backs and staring up at the sky and discussing nothing of importance.

Carver had loved the days Ashe and his father would visit the town, and he often had wondered what happened to the boy after the blight. Had he survived? Did he ever wonder what happened to the Hawke family? Questions that had remained unanswered until they happened upon one another in Skyhold and it was amusing that it was like no time had passed. Two boys had aged into two men and they sat together and talked about everything of importance.

if felt good, a warmth that Carver needed. An anchor of sorts that made him feel a little less alone within these halls. Varric and Hawke were one thing, but he couldn't stand around with them for too long, they had their own situation and he always felt like a third wheel. With Ashe? Ashe was his friend, and if felt even more important tor rekindle such a friendship during the damned end of the world.

It was dramatic, but Carver always seemed lighter when spending time with Ashe and Lily, Ashe's daughter who Carver had taken a liking to. She was a reminder of what the Inquisition was trying to pull, a safe future for the children like her. What a way to steel your resolve.

"We were little boys, Ashe, of course I was shorter. Lanky too, I was just knees and elbows as they say. Can't say that now, you cannot tell me you weren't a little startled over how big I've become." Carver muses from their current spot, perched on some boxes in a corner where there was less foot traffic. "You were short too as I recall, or at least if wasn't so hard to beat your behind with a sword." Amusement bubbles up in his tone and for once he's cracking a smile, gently nudging Ashe with his shoulder. "Mother was so angry every time by the way, I'd come home with scrapes and bruises and she'd know you were in town. Apparently my explanation that we were being adventuring heroes wasn't good enough for her."

The nostalgic happiness he felt at such innocent times helped cushion thoughts of his mother, the ache dulled enough that he doesn't show it on his face. Time doesn't heal pain, but you learn to live with it, the biggest lesson he took into adulthood. "Still, I am glad we have reunited." He admits, purposely avoiding eye contact and focusing on Lily who sat in the grass beside the boxes with a cloth of fruits to snack on. "It's nice, having someone, no, having both of you, to spend time with. At least there are two faces who don't look at me with suspicion.... at least not to my face." He adds the final joke with a teasing tone, still purposely avoiding Ashe's gaze for he was far too embarrassed over admitting something so heartfelt in the moment.
