say no to this || cora & juno
How could someone so small, so gentle and beautiful, hold so much control over him?
Juno’s chin was practically touching his neck with the amount he had to tilt his heads downward to look at her now that she had stepped close enough to him to bridge the gap. It made his skin crawl, the way she had moved so close, but not in a bad way. Fingers, crawling up his skin, light and dangerously appealing.
It was with desperation now he tried to cling onto the anger that had been so fueling him. But, the more Cora spoke and the longer he stared into her eyes with his filled with burning frustration, the more she made sense. However, that didn’t mean he liked it. In fact, he hated it even more than she was making sense.
And there the anger was again, biting in his belly and popping the veins in his neck out. But when his voice pushed past his lips, the anger that lived so violently in his body was lacking in his voice, replaced by a similar pleading to what Cora’s voice had had just moments before. “Because it’s dangerous Cora.” The tone he spoke with almost sounded like a sigh.
Juno took a moment to break, allowing silence to fill the space between them. Again Juno felt his anger slipping away from him, and he feared that it would be gone and there would be no way for him to convince Cora to stay without it. And then, it started leaking back. The longer he stared at her, looked over her face, and imagined it destroyed by Azkru, cut open and bleeding with dead glassy eyes, the more it returned.
The softness that had slowly been melting onto his face, that started first when he’d spoken, began shifting again with drawn brows and a creased frown. When he spoke this time, there was anger. “You can’t die.” A head shake and then his hands lifted to cup either side of her face. “I won’t let you.” And maybe these were residual feelings, left behind at his inability to save Losna, or maybe they were left over from when Cora had almost died 3 years ago. Maybe they were knew, something that had been growing, a need to protect the Heda outside of his line of duty. He didn’t know. What Juno did know, however, that his lips were on hers, desperate, afraid, violent, and he was praying that Cora didn’t have as hard of a sucker punch as her sister did, if she felt so inclined as to hit him.
If someone looked at Juno and Cora at that moment, they would think Juno would snap Cora like a twig with how angry he was and how little she was compared to him. However, it was the other way around. Juno would never admitted but Cora knew he listened to her, more than he even let on.
She heard his reasoning again, that it was dangerous, but she could tell it went deeper than that. She knew Juno, probably better than she knew herself and vice versa. Juno knew Cora like the back of his hands. She wanted to know the truth. What the real reason was for him being so against something that could help their people in the long run.
There was a moment where she was looking in his eyes that she actually saw him understanding her point of view. She could see the anger slipping away from his eyes, away from the features on his face, and she thought for a moment he might understand why she needed to go. But it came back suddenly and it made Cora press her lips together out of nervousness.
She heard his words. You can’t die. She repeated them in her head. She felt like he didn’t just mean Floukru couldn’t lose their Heda but that juno couldn’t lose her. She felt his hands on either side of her face, his hands almost the size of her head. Her deep brown eyes stared up at him as her chest rose and fell with heavy breaths.
Before she knew it, Juno’s lips were pressed against her with a feeling of desperation, like he had to kiss her or else he’d lose her. Cora only hesitated for a quick moment before returning the kiss. She pulled away but kept their lips centimeters apart, looking into his eyes. Her eyes were filled with anger, lust, passion, and above all, all the feelings she had for Juno that were finally surfacing. After looking into his eyes she threw her arms around his neck and pressed their bodies together, kissing him with much more passion than the first time.
