(TV listings for ‘Coming Out Night’ on Channel 4 ~ U.K. ~ 25th April 1998) 2017 may have marked the official 20th anniversary of Ellen’s ‘The Puppy Episode’ but because it was in olden times we had to wait a whole year for the U.K. premiere.

Happy 20th Anniversary to those of us who spent this night 20 years ago sat in anticipation, promises of bootlegs having never quite reached our hands, waiting to hear those infamous words come out of Ellen’s mouth. I wrote something about Ellen’s Coming Out Party on Channel 4 [here] once before if you want to see some of the meagre footage I found.

Look I know it won’t do anything but it’s a pretty good sign that within a day over half a million people are trying to organise any way of either stopping Theresa Mayhem’s Coalition of Chaos or at least vocally registering their utter disgust and contempt with the very idea of her shamelessly clinging onto power by jumping into bed with a gaggle of anti-LGBT, anti-abortion, anti-intellectual, bigoted arseholes.

She’s giving that kind of backwards ideology a hideous amount of bargaining power in Westminster just for the sake of shoring up her own position, damaged as it is from the self-inflicted snapping of elections.
