You haven’t had the easiest year by any stretch of imagination, but I only want for you to be happy, healthy and be able to continue to make memories you can look back on and smile. You have done the same for me without fail, supported me through my highs and lows, my ups and downs, and I hope I can always return the favor. Can you believe we have known each other for as LONG as we have?? Two years. Two whole years! I’m so grateful that I first followed you on another account of yours on a nostalgic whim and we could become as good of friends as we are now. We spill that hot tea together. We fangirl over our many ships and roleplays. We rant together over the craziness life throws us. We have our passionate romantic ships and our platonic cute brotps and siblings. Time can pass because of our lives picking up or whatever but we always find our way back to each other and get right back at it, which goes a long way in reassurance and making me feel appreciated. I have confided in you parts of myself I haven’t with many others at ALL and you have respected that and given me nothing back but WARMTH and kindness and generosity. You are always here for me point blank, and I love you so much for that. You literally said as much to me literally the other day! “Always here fam.”

And guess what? I already knew that, but sometimes you take these moments to tell me this, and these valuable, precious moments sink in and make my heart basically glow. I said it before, but I love you, and Damon loves Vivian. She’s his light filled, fiery red headed bombshell with the beautiful laugh. The queen to his king. The woman he deserves as we both know. Thank goodness they’re canon and married. <3333

He was reaching for the neck of a tall bottle before he started dark amber-colored pouring alcohol into a glass. ❝Since when did you get to be so rebellious...and dare I question it, fun?❞ he threw back with a playful roll of icy blue eyes and fluid tone. Damon then picked up his newly poured drink, a smirk slicking over his lips as he looked at his brother.

❝What are you saying? That I’m a bad influence?❞

           Shrugging on his leather jacket, Stefan reached down for his shoulder bag. After returning to Mystic Falls, from being away for so many years, he wanted to start his life over. The first task to accomplish that was enrolling in the local high school. This was one of the only perks he had towards his appearance beingno older than seventeen or eighteen years. Stefan wanted to be NORMAL, live life as a human, but such was a task he could never fully accomplish. The doorbell resounding through the halls of the Salvatore boardinghouse drew his attention. Leaving his bag resting in his chair, Stefan took to the stairs. Zac hadn’t mentioned anyone coming over, and it wasn’t likely that anyone would come to see him.

            Hand twisting the knob of the front door, Stefan pulled it towards him. As the dark figure turned around, a wave of shock shot through him. Jade hues widened slightly before Stefan’s stoic face adjusted back into its usual brooding mask. Tone punctuated, he stared at his visitor coolly from behind the threshold. ❝Damon.❞ A tall figuring with long, FLAMING hair was moving in the driveway behind his older brother. Stefan’s eye’s narrowed as he watched her lean form walk around the parked vehicle. He’d never seen her before. What was going on? His sharp gaze returned to Damon. A mix of judging, tension, and defiance were locked in his emerald stare. Of course, Damon just happened to pick now of all times to show up unannounced. At least if he had called, Stefan could have prepared for it better.

            ❝It’s been fifteen YEARS, Damon. Why are you here?❞

❝Going somewhere?❞ Damon looked him up and down, taking in his choice of attire, the leather jacket thrown over top to complete the ensemble. ❝You wouldn’t be off to school now, would you?❞ he commented, and while it was smoothly voiced and leisurely, the words vibrated in the air with obvious traces of amusement. ❝If that’s the case, don’t forget to pack something furry. That way you don’t chow down on the incoming freshman.❞ He started forward with the corners of his lips turned up in a smirk, closing in on the doorway until an invisible force prevented him from completing his entry. Damon glanced up briefly, stopping before stepping back, placing a hand along the door frame. Behind him, the woman he had driven clear across the states to come to this house, this small town, so he could be with his brother --- she was busying herself with grabbing their luggage. In front of him stood the one person he wanted to reconnect with more than anything. 

It wouldn’t be the first time for such a desire to bob to the surface and bring him to this point. Based on the judgy attitude Stefan was giving, classic brooding projected and aimed wholly at him and him only, that was a long way off. Understandable, even deserved, especially given the circumstances of his previous visitation, but still. Grimacing a little at the memory of the last time he had pleaded to be let in, Damon recovered and flashed a quick smile. It was noticeably absent of any bite, and though his tone chimed glibly, there was a thread of emotion infused into it. ❝Right, so...I may have decided that I missed you.❞

Bags were packed, and they hit the road, taking their party back to Mystic Falls. Black top was eaten, radio turned up, and state lines crossed. Damon didn’t call ahead of time like he did before his last stop in town, blowing up Stefan’s cellphone with messages --- instead he decided he would just show up unexpectedly and announce his presence that way. He hadn’t been back in town for a total of fifteen years, but surprise! It didn’t look any different. Still small, still laid out in defined sections; perfect slices of suburbia with collections of streets intersecting and running all the way down to main street and down town. All while a council of members with ties dating back to the founding families knew about the existence of things that went bump in the night. Not that they were anymore equipped to deal with them than they were the last time he was here. The difference was, Damon hadn’t come alone.

He pulled up in his shiny blue Camaro, killing the engine before leaning over and sharing a kiss with Vivian, lips molding and lingering against hers. Then he was pulling away from her and strolling toward the front door, his posturing oozing all the confidence in the world. It helped that he had come all the way back here with his girl. He still had his dark sunglasses on, though he slid them off to reveal icy blue eyes that were piercing after he rang the door bell. It chimed loudly while his back was turned and he waited. As soon as the door was swung inward he turned and greeted him, ❝ --- Hello, brother.❞
