twinwytches:
The twins are bored, not that it’s anything new for them to feel that way. They’ve long grown impatient waiting for the day that they can finally take over for their father and head to the big city and away from the smalls towns that they’ve grown accustomed to. There’s simply nothing new to see here, and there’s only so much training that one can do before they grow restless — and don’t even mention travel Instagrams, those only make it worse. It frequently feels as though everyone else is out there living their best lives and they’re stuck in a rut.
Aurelia’s nails click against the cafe’s table as she flips through various websites, making notes of the various sales and exclusive items that she wants to take advantage of. A sigh escapes her sister’s lips and she stops mid-scroll to look at her, head-tilted slightly as they silently agree on one thing: they need to find something to do. Looking around there wasn’t anyone interesting, at least not at first glance —- the twins had high standards to maintain, after all. It seemed Ophelia had different ideas however and before she could even protest the other was already standing up. Softly sighing, she made to follow her sister leaving behind their mess on the table.
‘Derek Kaiser. Twenty-two. Born and raised in Deadwood. President of Gamma Nu Alpha.’ The thoughts echo in their minds, both having started to give a report on just who they were approaching. Exchanging a set of amused grins, they continued their strides, moving so that they could approach him for both sides.
“Derek, darling. These chairs are free right?” Ophelia greeted, a seemingly demure grin spreading across her face and contrasting heavily with the seductive undertones of her words. Aurelia didn’t wait for an answer, moving to sit in the chair to the left of the man as her sister did the same on the other side.
“Wonderful. Tell us Derek,” she paused for effect, glancing at the other for a long moment before giving him a very slow once over. Shooting a seemingly impressed glance at her sister, she hid the disappointment in her thoughts. ‘average, boring.’ Leaning forward, she delicately rested her elbow on his sketchbook before placing her chin in her hand. “How are you doing?”
When it came to a moral compass, Derek lacked - majorly. In his eyes, nothing he did mattered. He didn't care how it affected those around him, the only thing on his mind was himself, and the outcome he could get for him. The only exception to one of many toxic traits was Valentino. Since they were children, he had viewed Val as family. The two did everything together, and the secrets they carried would no doubt stay with them long after they died. His loyalties didn't lay with anyone but himself, and Val. The love between them ran deep, intertwined in his blood as second nature. That connection meant that there was no way that Derek would let anyone else hurt him, and nor would he do anything to hurt him. He'd almost murdered boys before for laying their hands on Val, and he would continue doing so until he couldn't fight anymore, and then he would pay people to do it for him.
So when it came to the twins, he had no interest in interacting with them. Although a part of him had never truly trusted anything about them - he couldn't explain why something about them just seemed untrustworthy. Perhaps it was because they reminded him a bit too much of himself. And the twin telepathy thing always creeped him out, also. Now - he understood his brother was no saint, seeing both of them. Though, all parties were consenting, and so he saw no flaw in that. But Val's interest wandered outside of the twins, so he couldn't say it was the twin's interest others were what upset him. He didn't trust the twins with Val. It made him uneasy knowing the three were intimately connected, he was vulnerable to them. He didn't like it.
The undertones of seduction hadn't missed him. He recognized it, acknowledged it, but didn't act on it. Even if Val was not committed to these two, they were still apart of his list of girls, and that was a list he would not venture into. He had more respect than that. "Morning, Aurelia, Ophelia." He greeted, offering up a casual, charming grin. He was upholding the friendly, carefree facade he kept on the daily. It was only inside where the thoughts turned sour. While he had been actively seeking out interactions with others to try to find some source of amusement, he didn't have any desire to the attention the twins might bring him. He didn't know what it was about them, but it tugged at all the wrong spots of the dark parts of his brain. Part of him half feared his mask would drop, and the demon would be exposed. If he so much as gave them a glimpse into the volatile reality of his personality, the whole world would find out within moments.
Piercing eyes lift to sit on the two in front of him. For a moment, he wonders what brought them to his table. Out of all the ones in the room, of all the people scattered about and the options of merely leaving and seeking out others' presence, why him? They had to be looking for something. Perhaps, like him, they were in the mood for some entertainment, the ache of boredom settling into their bones. "What are you two delights doing on this lovely day?"
