No one stops being autistic because they grew up -
Ninguém deixa de ser autista porque cresceu ‼️
Lets talk a little about Adult autism, and autism in general
I am autistic lv1 support, and the infantilization of autistic people is a topic that bothers me a lot. I am an adult woman in my 20s and I often feel that people don't take me seriously because of my interests or my way of expressing myself, I was diagnosed recently (at 18) and since then I feel that I am not treated like an adult human being
I study, I work, I have a political position, I have my daily responsibilities but even so I feel that I am labeled only as "autistic" when I am much more than a diagnosis, having my opinions and wishes ignored, not taken seriously or treated as "she's autistic"
Yes, I have my limits and needs. Until recently, I couldn't leave the house alone because I couldn't stand noise or having to interact with other people, but I want to be respected as the HUMAN being that I am, I want people to be patient and understand my limits because I am HUMAN, not to be labeled just as "Autistic"
I'm not ashamed of being autistic, I am who I am and perfectly imperfect like any other human being, And seeing the recent case of Elon Musk, seeing people using "he's autistic" as an excuse for his N@zi actions left me devastated, people have a very distorted view of what being autistic really means and that scares me
Again, I am NOT ashamed of being autistic, I love myself and understand my limits, I have found myself as the human being that I am, I have found peace and answers to questions that were haunting me, I am ashamed of a world, that in the times we live in still does not understand and gives voice to neurodivergent people, who create stereotypes, lies and boxes that we must fit into to live in a custom-designed world...
I won't even get into the topic of how difficult it is to get a diagnosis as a girl and not a white boy
Give voice and stage to neurodivergent people, let them talk, share their life, let's move towards a world accessible to all.
