Mirai Theater 2014.10.10 with Oda Nobunari, a famous figure skater. However, they didn’t talk about his career but rather about his personality. The thing is Oda is a big crybaby. Like, seriously. He said he often cries on the train just from thinking about sad things. Shige asked when was the last time he cried and he replied “Yesterday.” He did it while worrying about his master’s degree thesis. Oda has a wife and two kids and he said his older 4-year old son began to skate a little.
Then was the best part. Koyama asked about Oda’s 女子力 = ”Female Power”. Apparently, the term means something a woman should be good at like cooking, fashion, make-up and such. Now apparently it’s been a hot topic in Japan but the thing is they also apply it to men. I remember recently some girl who wrote to Tegomass radio said she thinks Tegoshi’s female power is high. Like some men that have feminine traits but it’s not necessarily a bad thing and it doesn’t necessarily mean they aren’t capable as men. Anyway. Oda says he doesn’t consciously think he has female power but people often say he does. He says he’s a figure skater and spends a lot of time with women so that probably is an influence.
Shige: What does female power mean? Do you like cute things?
Oda: Well, I’m listening to Ariana Grande.
Shige: Like you have stuffed toys in your house?
Oda: I do. Some I receive and some I buy myself. You know wombats? There’s that character and I really like it.
Shige: Your female power is high! But talking about Koyama-san, isn’t his female power also high?
Koyama: Yes. On my sofa there are stuffed toys.
Oda: Waah! Really? Let’s go eat pancakes together!
Koyama: Ok! I love pancakes!
Shige: Wait, you love sweets?
Oda: I love them. I love sweet food.
Hatori: Which cafes do you like?
Koyama: The gesture he made is also feminine! (Koyashige imitate)
Oda: There’s a place in Roppongi…. (names two different shops)
Koyama: I also love the sweets from supermarkets. After work I go to supermarket…
*the two continue chattering with Shige stuck in between*

Looks like Koyama made a new friend. ^^ At the end of the show they talked a bit about Oda’s decision to quit professional skating and his supportive wife and Koyama asked him to tell what kind of messages he got from his wife. By the time he asked Oda already began crying and kept crying as he recited her words of support. He apologized several times for getting emotional but the guys were all very nice to him saying it’s ok. It all was so sweet.
