So, I was wondering, do you have any suggestions for studying anatomy and stuff, like hands, other than using references

(and just like last time, feel free not to answer if you don't want to obviously)

for studies, you really can’t do without using references because you’re there to learn/practice something you don’t know well yet yk. but, a tip (refs or not) is to simplify which you might hear a lot too since it’s genuinely how you want to approach drawings at any level.

aaand here’s some stuff i keep in mind drawing hands specifically i hope its legible (this is just how i do it!! not a universal truth by any means!)

another tip would be to draw what interests you, it’s the quickest way to improve in my experience because you’ll feel motivated to draw a bunch (which is practice!!) i for one learned more about muscles and anatomy when i was big into call of duty compared to doing just anatomy studies by itself.. so make things related to what you like, put your blorbos in situations.

#ik its not very helpful to say use references but i genuinely rely on it a lot #my anatomy pinterest board is 700+ pins #i hope its a little helpful.. im still learning too o7 #my fundamentals are mostly self taught if you cant tell ..#askbox #reo.txt #oh! and anatomy is often about rhythm+overlapping forms #straight edges (boney areas) paired with flowy/softer curves (muscle and fat)

oh fun question, it usually depends! if its something heavily based off a reference or two then 4 hrs ish (arvid drawing was ~3hrs, kimi win drawing was 4.5, etc)

more polished pieces take usually 8-14hrs (constellation ollie was 8hr, fairytale bearnelli was 16)

i try to finish everything in as few sittings as possible though because i get bored if it takes too long lol, think 2-4 days for most
