Are you aware of how cute you are?
âAw, thatâs sweet. Itâs not just because of my height though, right?â
If there was one thing Gemma enjoyed, it was a good party. If Monster Jam was anything, it was one big massive party. As soon as sheâd arrived at the event, she grabbed a cheap beer from one of the stands and moved in the direction of whatever music piqued her interest. She was in front of one of the stages, dancing to her hearts content when she spotted someone nearby. âCome on, grump! Itâs not a party if youâre just standing there!â So, maybe sheâd already had a few drinks before showing up, but who could really blame her?
âYeah, yeah, let me just finish my drink first! Unless you want it to end up all over both of us.â Helena had never been the most coordinated of people--despite attempting dance and sport lessons as a kid--especially not when she was already a little buzzed. She downs the last of the water she had grabbed before taking Gemmaâs hand and moving closer to the stage. âGod, Iâm going to go deaf like this! Even if I had human senses this would be loud.â
havocxhaleâ:
Kinsley had always enjoyed Monster Jam before, but now? It was a little overwhelming. The sounds were a bit too loud, the smell of humans a bit too sweet, and the sound of heartbeats echoing a steady tempo all around her. She was trying to challenge herselfâto be able to stay in a crowd without her hunger overwhelming her. She was hanging back, munching on her third corn dog to help curb her hunger when she heard, rather than saw, someone approaching. âI donât think approaching from behind is smart,â she said, before turning around and flashing a smile. âBut I wonât be mad at you for trying it.â
âItâs just me, Kins. Donât worry.â She flashes a small smile at her friend. âSorry, I figured youâd hear me. Forgot how overwhelming this could all be at first.â Thinking back, she does remember though. How everything had seemed so much more after being bitten. Sheâd thought she was going crazy at first. âIt settles down.â
While he waited for one of his informants, Ryder found himself seated in the back of one of the party tents, the smell of alcohol, marijuana, and desperation filled the air. The concert, festivals and other activities were not his types of events, but back here, surrounded by the intoxication of supernaturals was enough for him to at least keep himself busy while he waited for his true purpose of being here.
He was accompanied by two women and a man, one of the girls wearing his cowboy hat as he sank his fangs into the other, feeding lightly on her, able to taste the alcohol in her bloodstream. His eyes flickered to a passerby, noticing them watching. He licked his lips as he lifted his head towards them. âYou are more than welcomed to join,â he called out.
Helena had had a couple drinks, and was looking for a bathroom, when she stumbled upon Ryder and his companions. She stops still, eyes drawn to it, but not sure what to say. It felt like sheâd come across something she wasnât meant to see. Werewolf instincts werenât a thing she often acknowledged when it came to vampires, but she couldnât help but wonder at the immediate sense of wrongness that she felt looking at this. âI... I donât think...â
Vanessa was excited, she had found a clearing close to the stage, making sure no one else had made claim to it, she quickly did and set up the spot as she waited for Helena to find her. Looking around, she saw a food stand not to far from the chosen spot. Smiling, she quickly ran over to the stand, deciding to get some food while she waited.

âNessa!â Helena was looking forward to the Monster Jam like nothing else. Ten years ago, when sheâd been bitten, sheâd not realised how many of the performers she liked were supernatural. She could only imagine what her parents would think if theyâd known. But now, she didnât even have to worry about that. âSorry Iâm late,â she says, appearing next to her friend in the queue. âGot caught up closing the shop. Did you find a spot?â
vanessa-thomasâ:
Vanessa could not stop the instant smile that over took her face when she heard Helenaâs voice from the front room. Once around the corner, she saw the coffee and food that the other wolf was carrying, âoh, you do love me.â She said, reaching for the bag of food and a coffee before reaching to pull her into a hug.Â
âQuestioning my love, were you?â Helena teases, handing over the food and hugging Vanessa tight. âOf course I do, I canât believe youâre doubting me. Shame!â She chuckles and lets the younger wolf go, looking around the empty studio. âBusy day, huh?â
hollychevalierâ:
âThat easy?â Holly giggled, covering her mouth with her palm as a form of apologizing. âI didnât mean youââ But before she could continue to stick her stupid foot in her stupid mouth she was flagging down a waitress. âAre you a light and fruity or a dark and robust kinda gal?.â
Helena blushes, a little embarrassed at first. Well, you asked me, she thinks defensively. But that melts away as the girl covers her mouth and explain, and she shrugs it off. âIâm feeling pretty adventurous,â she says. âIâll have whatever youâre having.â
âYeah, I get it,â Gemma said with a roll of her eyes. She didnât really care if she was being rude to the bartender as she slid her license towards them. âI look young, but how many times have you seen me in this bar? So how âbout you just get me a Jack and Coke and stop saying that every time I come in?â Once the bartender walked away, she could feel a pair of eyes on her. She was ready to bark at whoever it was to stop staring, but instead, she just turned to find out who the offender was. âCan I help you?â
Helena slides into the stool beside the other wolf, having just witnessed the scene over being carded. She knew exactly what it was like--she was carded every time she went into any place selling alcohol, and places outside of Hollow Grove tended to laugh her out at the door--but sheâd gotten used to it. âItâs a pain,â she agrees as she sits down. âTheyâre just doing their job, but it does get frustrating. Then again, they do have to card anyone who looks under 25, so Iâd probably still be carded even if I aged normally.â Being as small as she was anyway, she was still mistaken for 16 or 17, despite being 26.
vanessa-thomasâ:
Vanessa was sitting in the empty tattoo parlor, looking at the tattooing practice skin she was supposed to be practicing on. She was bored of using it, wishing she could have an actual customer but she knew she wouldnât get another chance to tattoo someone again until Gemma said she was ready. The bell ringing above the door brought her attention from the practice skin, âwelcome to Just Ink About It!â She said, getting up from the chair she had been sitting on. âHow may I help you?â
âNessa!â Helena had been hoping it would be quiet when she came in so that she wouldnât be interrupting Vanessaâs work. âI brought you some food and a coffee from Society Cafe, if youâve got time to spare? Howâs it going today?â
coltondeforestâ:
Almost as soon as Colton had the door open Aurora squeezed past Colton and went rushing into the store, heading straight to the childrenâs section to look through books. He had no doubt theyâd be leaving with no less than at least five or six. âAnything you suggest sheâs going to want. If you want to boost your sales for the day feel free to give her options.â He laughed softly, watching his daughter.Â
Helena grins at the adorable little girl running straight to the childrenâs section, eager to find something. âOh perfect,â she says. âI can hit all the sales goals.â Sheâs kidding, but even so, she steps out from behind the counter. âHey sweetie!â Sheâd always been pretty good with kids, even babysitting the kids in her home town all through high school. âWhatâve you found?â
gillesezraâ:
Ezra grins at her. âI donât know, can you?â he jokes. âI think I have a grasp on the inventory by now, but thank you.â He flashes her another grin to show that heâs just joking. âI know Iâm early for my shift, but I finished the book I was on and I know we have the sequel here.â
âOh, didnât you hear? I moved absolutely everything around. Nothingâs where you think it is any more, so now you have to rely on me,â Helena jokes back. âSure, no problem, go for it. The bookâs that good huh?â
minaxfitzgeraldâ:
Mina laughed and nodded. âOf course Iâm happy to see you!â she said, nodding. âWell, there is one thingâŠâ she said slowly just thinking about it. âGot any books on Japan? Iâm taking elementary Japanese this year, so I thought Iâd read books on the country and maybe think about going there one day.â
âIâm just teasing,â she assures the other woman. Helena nods along with Minaâs request and explanation. âOh, definitely! We have the Lonely Planet Japan book, and I think we have one or two textbooks or phrasebooks somewhere here too. Iâll grab you the Lonely Planet one first. And if you want any ordered in... Well, Ezra knows how to do all that!â
platinumpatrikâ:
As they pulled up at the small section of law books and Patrik let out a sigh, they definitely wouldnât have anything like he was after. âWell it was worth a shot.â Even so he reached out to pick a random one up and let out a snort.  âIsnât it a little⊠in bad taste to be selling a book on the laws of witch hunting?âÂ
Helena gives a small shrug. âSorry.â When he picks up the book and snorts, she feels a small pit of uncomfortableness settle in her stomach. âI mean... That bookâs more of a history book than current law. On the Salem trials. A lot of those women werenât even real witches. But I guess... Maybe?â
nathanielxgreysonâ:
âThatâs okay. I didnât mean to interrupt your reading.â Nate smiled at Helena, glancing around the store. He probably knew the place front and back by now with as often as heâd been in there since it opened. He strolled over to where she was, crossing his arms as he leaned against the counter. âJust coming in to see if you had anything new.â After studying it a moment, he nodded to the book in her hands. âIs that one good?â
Helenaâs face brightens when she sees exactly whoâs walked through the door. âNate!â she grins, always happy to see him. She shuts the book with a shrug. âI was only reading because I donât have much else to do. Slow day.â With a hum, she looks around. âWe got a couple new books in... What kind of thing are you after?â His question prompts her to look at her book again. âThis? Yeah, it is! Iâm actually re-reading it at the moment.â
