this city forever holds my heart

we’re decaying together, you and I wrinkle by wrinkle before an ageless sky night after night, lying together in bed holding hands and practicing death

I don’t mean to sound maudlin, depressing or sad undermine all the joyous times that we had and continue to have, day after day until darkness takes the sunlight away

the sky doesn’t pity nor does it judge it doesn’t care whether you’re ten or using a crutch to get where you’re needed, where you’re destined to be it watches silently as we move through life, you and me

and when it’s all over, I’m sure I’ll be sad reliving our moments together, the good and the bad, though it won’t matter, the sky doesn’t judge nor does the universe when it will nudge us together eternally now, you and I, watching life from our new spot up in an ageless sky
