Donāt have an obsessive personality except in one area ā with words. I write something, even a brief paragraph, like here, then edit and go back to make sure Iāve cleared whatever doesnāt belong there. I do this several times. My concern is the slightest deviation that may compromise the text, such as between an āandā and āthe.ā I do this ā just to make sure. And then I keep reading ā donāt knowā¦

This person was sleeping on the street when I first noticed him. The monolith behind him was the Enoch Pratt library. Unfortunately I didnāt shoot that sequence. He carefully folded the plastic sheet that buffered him from the concrete and then began packing.
