Love is the bridge that unites two souls, just as Shiva and Parvati are united in their eternal bond.”
Shiva and Parvati ॐ Talon Abraxas
Once, Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati were seated on Mount Kailash. Shiva was deeply absorbed in meditation. Suddenly, Parvati noticed that He was smiling gently even in His meditative state. She wondered why Mahadev was smiling today while still in deep meditation.
When Shiva opened His eyes and ended His samadhi, Parvati asked,
“Swami, this is the first time I have seen You smile during meditation. What is the reason?”
Shiva replied that He had been listening to a conversation between one of His devotees and the devotee’s wife, and that it had made Him smile.
Explaining everything, Mahadev said,
“There is a devoted Brahmin in the mortal world who serves as the priest in one of My temples. He spends day and night in My service, and lives in a small hut behind the temple with his wife. His wife wishes to have her own house and some wealth so she can live comfortably. But the priest survives only on the offerings made at the temple, which are barely enough to meet their daily needs. In such circumstances, how can he provide a house or luxuries? Still, he constantly prays to Me to fulfill his wife’s dream.”
Shiva continued,
“Today, his wife said something to him that made Me smile.”
Parvati asked curiously,
“What did she say that disturbed Your meditation?”
Shiva replied,
“His wife taunted him, saying: ‘The Bhole Shankar for whom you devote your entire life, from whom you beg a house for me — even He Himself has no house! He lives on Mount Kailash. How do you expect Him to give you a home?’
Hearing this, I couldn’t help but smile.”
Hearing this, Parvati felt upset and said,
“Swami, I feel very bad hearing her words. She is mocking You — and You are smiling! You should bless them with a house and comforts so she stops speaking ill of You.”
Shiva replied gently,
“Parvati, this is not within My power. All beings in the mortal world live according to the results of their past and present karma. Only when they exhaust their karmic accounts do they attain liberation. That is why this world is called Mrityuloka — the realm where souls repeatedly take birth and settle the accounts of their deeds. No being can escape the consequences of karma; without karma, there is no movement.”
“Om Namah Shivaya Parvati Pataye Hara Hara Mahadev”
This chant combines the names of both deities, calling upon their divine grace to assist in matters of love and marriage. Reciting this mantra with sincerity and devotion is thought to bring positivity and happiness into one’s life, fostering a loving environment necessary for a successful marital relationship.
