Killing Boredom During COVID19 Pandemic
From a happy social life down to quarantines and lock down, all of us were not prepared for these. All of the sudden we were locked into our homes and can’t do the things we usually do. So, instead of complaining and being negative about it, let’s say we choose to be on the other side. Here’s a list of the things you can do:
1. Take some extra sleep
First, you have to figure out what you should do. But wait, I am sure before all these happened, you were too busy working or studying. Come on! Give yourself a break by taking some extra sleep while you are making your plans for the next coming days.
2. Make a To-Do List
After organizing your thoughts and observing the environment carefully, make a list of the things that you need to do. Try to see if some parts of your house needs some attention and repairs.
3.  The Green Thumb Movement
Why not make those imagination turn into reality? I know you’ve been dreaming of a beautiful landscape in front of your house or a cool place for reading under that mango tree. It is also a great way for self discovery and a family bonding activity.Â
4. Cooking Showdown
Staying at home makes you hungry. It’s just that way. Whether you are alone or with your family, you need to eat. So now is the time to be a chef and could be a start up for a business after the pandemic. Why not? Coconut?
5. Develop a hobby
Hobbies, like playing a musical instrument, painting or writing a blog, are beautiful ways of killing this boredom. You might also want to take a look on the books that you bought from the bookstore and see if you want to start reading again.Â
Truly, this time tests all our ability to stay calm and remain optimistic. Knowing that it is beyond our control, we might want to be engaged in helpful activities and stay COVID free.Â
What to do when you can’t sleep
Well, there’s so many reasons why we can’t sleep at night but it’s really a pain-in-the-butt when work is waiting for the next day. So here we go.
1. Proper breathing
The proper inhale-exhale exercise can make a difference and I tried to apply it for my insomnia attacks. It worked for me. Yay!Â
2. Change of Position
If proper breathing didn’t worked, then I’ll go for the change in sleep position. Just a simple change on where my head is facing really helps a lot of times.
3. Taking of Pills
Occasionally, I can figure out why I can’t sleep. Sometimes, it’s an allergy from the food I ate during the day. If this happens, I just take my anti-allergy pill and it makes me sleep.Â
4. Drink plenty of Water
Dehydration could sometimes be the cause. And besides, nothing is wrong with taking a lot of fluids.
5. Mind conditioning
The power of the mind as they say. When I tried all the other tips and nothing happened, then I’ll go for this last tip that is proven effective for me. I say these thoughts out loud in my mind: “I will live and not die”, “It’s not just me who experiences this”, “better days are ahead of me”. I need to counter attack all the negative thoughts and replacing them with a good one.Â
All of us experienced having hard time sleeping. Some might just experienced it for a few times but some has worst and lasted for months just like me. But I discovered the secrets how to overcome them. I hope these will help you too.Â
