How do you create your cinemagraphs?

A lot of them I don't create, they are the amazing work of other people. However, the ones that I do create are usually done by (in basic terms) editing a movie clip into the short section that I want, and then opening it in Photoshop and masking off the section that I want to stay still. Sometimes I'll do them slightly differently depending on what's around the moving/still element, but that's the basic gist of it. Thanks for your question :)
