Call For Submissions: Queer Magic: Power Beyond Boundaries Edited by Tai Fenix Kulystin and Lee Harrington From Mystic Productions Press In the world of spiritual and magical discourse, the LGBTQAI+ voice is often left out. So often, the discussion and rituals are anchored in a strict duality of a priest and priestess, and even our god(s) and goddess(es) are subject to this binary. When these are the majority of our representations the vast array of queer magical experiences are entirely overlooked. Do you have theories and perspectives on queering magic, or magic in queer life/activism? Have you had profound personal experiences that others might learn from? Has your magical working group devised rituals for people of queer experience, or to interact with queer gods and ancestors? The world is ready to hear what you have to say. Authors are invited to write 2-8 pages (approximately 1500-4000 words) about their own theories, rituals, or personal experiences pertaining to Queer Magic. Topics could include: Gender or Sexual Identity and Magic Queering Magic/Resisting Heterocisnormative Patriarchy with Magic Queer Gods Sex Magic Honoring LGBTQ Ancestors Intersectionality with Race, Ability, Socioeconomic Status, Age, Size, etc. Rites of Passage and Coming Out Magic Death or Funerary Rites Personal or Community Healing …and more
Persistent Universes
So far I’ve accidentally created 2 on going universes. I’m calling them “stats verse” and “monster verse ” respectively. Stats verse centers around an old man who, in a poor decision at 18 was given the ability to know one statistic about everyone. He chose to know how much Sonic the Hedgehog porn a person had seen. Later on he manages to beat death(technical beats) at a game of his choice, THE GAME (yeah we all just lost). This old man’s name is Marcus. He has 2 grand children and a cat, Finny, who he adopted. On the day he cheats death Marcus accidentally poured vodka into the cat bowl. Finny, it turns out, is an alien criminal sent to the vast prison colony Earth and can talk. He also has better taste in liquor than Marcus. The stories are all tagged stats verse.
The second is the monster verse. This deals with a child and the monsters that haunt their room at night. Sadly the under the bed monster and closet monster spend most nights debating politics. The kid gets a replacement of one, but is still stuck with the other.
Those are the two humorous persistent world’s with actual persistent characters.
So hey, I have an orginal short fiction blog! I do prompts, sent in or found, humor to horror so yes validate me
FWIW, there a lot of calls for submissions for short fiction and poetry that could be considered fantasy or polytheist. Some pay, some don’t.
What Tess hides from the public. All of this was taken from the natib qadish facebook group.
Ayyyyyyyyyyyy does anyone remember when this happened and not many folks seemed to give a shit?
Yes, I do. And word on the street is, NQ has a new anti-Semitic dude in there that admin is ignoring.
Wwwwwwhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
*heavy sighing*
I remember seeing this last year, after that ridiculous She Rides a Pale Donkey post, and it being the thing that turned me from actually beginning a study of Natib Qadish.
See the thing is I don’t have anything against Natib Qadish itself. I think it has a lot of potential and by all means practicers can take what they want and not adhere to every little aspect. I have yet to really find anything bashing Yahweh and such in the books I have, so in my mind it’s really just Tess herself. I only see these problems surface in the discussions outside her books. I thank her for giving us this start with NQ but I don’t take all her opinions as concrete.
The thing I worry about is the possibility that what she says is driving away individuals truly interested in the ‘Iluma. Individuals shouldn’t blame the deities for what one person is saying. That will always be my first concern, the ‘Iluma.
Do I excuse her behavior and clear hating of monotheism? Of course not. I am a monotheist. I was raised Catholic and the religion I adhere to is a monotheistic. Clearly she has an issue with the Abrahamic god, and seems to have the same victim complex I’ve seen individuals complain about with authors like Silver Ravenwolf and her ‘intolerance’ of Christianity.
But, whenever these posts surface it gives Qadishuma and Natib Qadish a bad name and displays them in a bad light. It’s a pain when these resurface, because Qadishuma may feel obligated to defend, not Tess, but their personal faiths.
Whenever these resurface its almost like a shame that weighs over me and I can’t explain it.
I still view these in the same way I view Heathenry- which has a glaring, horrible mark on its community, too. It’s that- the gods, the religion and the community are all woven together. This is why I personally have taken so much time to try and create resources to make a good community. Because the community can often define the religious experience, and help determine whether someone wants to even bother with the religion.
I have actually been approached by both Canaanite and Heathen gods, and in both cases, I have had to turn them away because I don’t have the spoons to bother with these types (Dawson, Krasskova as examples) in the community.
Shitty community leaders turn away possible devotees. That’s just the truth of it. It is still my hope that for many of these communities- that someone else will step into “power” and help to drive the community and religion into better straights. Because Dawson doesn’t do the religion any favors, imo. She may have written a good book or two (idk, haven’t read them), but she has done noting but create problems for the communtiy beyond that.
So yeah, I guess what I’m trying to say is that you’re legitimate in feeling upset over the fact that she is driving away devotion from your gods by being a twat. But I won’t protect her for the sake of her gods, either, by not releasing the truth (or reblogging it). Because having someone like her at the helm of Canaanite reconstructionism doesn’t do anyone any favors long term, imo. I can only hope that more (better) people step in and help to make the community better for all of you. Because there is nothing inherently wrong with the religion. It’s more Dawson is just not a good leader.
Hopefully that makes some sense.. its still early here.
You know what? I’m going to bring this back. Look at that last screenshot, everyone. Look at what Tess says. Galina Krasskova is racist, but everyone seems to want to forget that Tess is, too.
thank you for digging this up for me. saves me the hassle of having to go through my archive and/or tags to find it.
I was one of the Kemetics who was a member of the NQ discussion group, back before Tess kicked out all the Kemetics. I was interested in learning because Canaan interacted with Egypt, and a couple of the members were early followers and commenters on my blog. This makes me sad too. It seemed like NQ was off to a great start, and were avoiding many of the problems that plague other groups. Then BAM!

Which of the DEITIES would possibly like to become a school teacher/ university professor to get in touch with young people (or maybe influence them)?
This is probably THE most predictable answer I could go with but… in all honestly, Thoth instantly came to mind. A few others do as well but Thoth persists as the one that epitomizes the role of teacher or professor.
One factor it obviously because he’s the God of Wisdom, Knowledge, and writing, and thus the patron of scholars. Thoth himself actively studies and does his own research and writing a variety of subjects, which translates well to the job of a modern professor. I also imagine that he’d be the type of person who enjoys and respects the pursuit of knowledge, as well as its application to real world issues.
Another factor is because in the mythology, Thoth often adopts an authority and mentor role to other gods. The same is true in DEITIES, as he’s a mentor and teacher of many deities in the pantheon – including Horus and Anubis, and also their parents when they were younger. In some cases Thoth also acts as a guardian and supervisor over the other gods, and for my characterization of him he has the patience and disposition for it (even if he has moments where he’s more than exasperated by certain individuals). And in his role as the advisor and voice of Ra, he’s already well accustomed to addressing others and mediating discussions and debates.
So yeah, that’s why I think he’d be well suited for an occupation as a teacher in modern times. I would probably lean more towards a university professor or lecturer for the added ability to conduct further research while teaching others, but he could work well as a grade-school teacher too.
[“Which DEITIES…?” Askbox Theme]
Hathor as guidance counselor, obviously.
Fellow Kemetics
So I made a new blog and I’m following a lot of kemetic/kemetic -related blogs already but just in case, if you’re a kemetic of any sort feel free to reblog and I’ll follow you :)
Hi!
I wanted to say hi to the kemetic community. I’m really a new polytheist but I’m still learning..so I consider myself a newbie still. I’ve been doing this whole polytheism thing completely wrong and it hasn’t been healthy for me. So My goal is to start over and just learn. I don’t work with any egyptian gods nor was I approached by any. I just like egyptian religion. I’m considering getting into KO courses.
Welcome and nice to meet you
Welcome! Glad to have you!
Welcome!
Anubis The Jackal
i doodled Anubis cus Anubis is one of my favourite Ancient Egyptian god :3

reblogs are appreciated :P
The Illustrated Book of Manners: A Manual of Good Behavior and Polite Accomplishments, 1866
‘If I believe in one God, and my neighbor believes in twenty, there is no reason why we may not say “good morning;” buy and all; eat and drink; perform all neighborly offices, and partake of all social enjoyments.
But if, to obey what he fancies to be the commands of the gods, he must burn down my house, destroy my belief, break up my worship, he is guilty of a great impoliteness.”
…… that seems like an understatement but what do i know i guess
Though it’s usually those who believe in one god who take it as a duty to destroy others belief and break up their worship.
Wep Ronpet 2016
OMG, GUYS, IT’S HAPPENING! I’ll be doing a Wep Ronpet ritual for my CUUPS group this year! If anyone has any suggestions, I am all ears. I’m thinking I’ll bake a snake cake for starters, and those little terra cotta pots would be great fun for some execration, but I’d like to do something a little more formal, too.
I may be able to help? If you want, hmu via chat and we can toss ideas around.
or we can do it here and make a super long thread.
Let’s go for a thread, that way if anyone else wants to jump in, they can, and it’ll put ideas out for everybody, too. (Plus I keep weird hours, so chat can be difficult. Unless you’re in Russia, apparently.)
Makes sense. What would you like the focus of the rite to be? I see that you want to smite the poop by the end, but what sort of message would you want the bulk of the “guts” of the ritual to be about?
The UU I belong to is starting a CUUPS chapter, and I’ve been trying to come up with different things to do, so I’m in.

Rituals, spiritual poems or songs that can be used in rituals, such as initiation or other ceremonies involving the transgender experience.
Check out our write up of the first annual State of Black Science Fiction Convention!
One of my author friends went to this- sounds like it went well.
. . The reason I started was to warn authors of traps they can fall in, after a friend of mine has been deceived by a so-called vanity publisher. Well, she was very naive and did not seek the help …
Even big commercial publishers are writing bad contracts now.
Calls for submissions on 7 different anthologies, all for stories 5,000 words or less: "We are currently accepting short fiction works for our print anthology collections. We ask that only previously unpublished works are submitted. Before you submit read, re-read and have someone else read your work to ensure it is in its best form. We are unable to accept even the best writing if it is riddled with grammatical and technical errors."

Do you have any advice for worshipping bast/Bastet? please and thank you!
Bast is the appropriate name, as it already has the feminine “-t” ending. So the additional “-et” ending is redundant~!
Bast is an Iryt-Ra, which means Eye of Ra. She is one of a handful of Netjeru that is Ra’s chosen to be primarily the protectors of humanity, the earth and warriors against isfet.
As such, she has strong solar associations. When in doubt, one can look at a Netjer’s epithets to see what kind offerings they may like. For example, Bast is a Lady of Perfume. She tends to enjoy offerings of lavish delights such as incense, perfume, and desserts.
Like all Netjeru, she is vehemently against isfet, so any actions that help destroy it are favorable - for example, fighting sexism, systemic oppression against people of color, and whitewashing.
She can be kind and motherly for some, though for others she comes across as the Devouring Lady/Giver of Valor - very much a warrior.
Which facet of her are you inclined towards?

Also she commands her “Seven Arrows”, most of whom we know: “No complete list of the tutelary deities of the arrows survives, but the most complete list, from Philae, lacking the fifth and seventh arrows, shows in its attributions a preponderance of associations with Bast, attributing the first arrow to “Bast, mistress of Bubastis,” the second to “Nefertum, son of Bast,” the third to Horus-Hekenu, a form of Horus local to Bubastis, the fourth to “Khonsu-Horus, son of Bast, master of joy,” and the sixth to “Wenut, Eye of Re,” (Rondot, 267). The demons actually making up each ‘arrow’ are depicted at a number of sites, with a certain degree of variation (Sauneron 1960, 281 supplies a table with the principal versions).“ https://henadology.wordpress.com/theology/netjeru/bast/
Kemeticism is open to people of all cultures, ethnicities, backgrounds, etc. with no exceptions. There has been a lot of dirt slung around, some of it unfortunately by our own people, some of which by hateful onlookers, which can serve to reinforce the belief that some people may not be welcome here. Not so. We talk all the time about how Kemeticism is not a closed religion and thus is not culturally appropriative. It comes up every few months in a flurry of angry Tumblr posts, hateful asks, and serious blog articles, but we don’t talk often enough about just how open it is. Not just to random white kids, but to everyone. Jewish people. People of color. Queer people. Nonbinary people. Other minorities…and non-minorities. We want you. We need you. Your voices are as welcome and as invited into the light of Netjer and the glory of ma’at as any of those already here, and it isn’t because it ‘doesn’t matter’ what else you may be or where you may come from. It absolutely matters, because every unique, individual voice and each new story, lifestyle, belief, and culture that adds itself to Kemeticism is an educational boon to the rest of us. We need your voices. Not just on Tumblr to help make the tags a safer and more inclusive place, but in general, because that’s what ma’at is all about.
© @heqaiitw There are dark sides in kemeticism, however, … There are great, understanding and supportive people of kemetic religion; But there are, and always have been, people of the same religion who were unfair to brethren - in - faith.
I have recently re-read the demotic pleas to Thoth, how priests and attendants of sacred ibis farms were complaining about their colleagues being unfair and unjust… (and also neglecting the sacred animals). They were writing letters and putting them into ibis mummy wrappings, because their voices were not heard, because their voices were silenced, and they had no one but Djehuty to hear their pleas and remove their obstacles. I have also re-read the story of priestly family of Peteise (There is also a movie about them, in the series “Ancient Egyptians” - “Murder in the Temple”), and this story generally tells how priests of Amun in one temple murdered teenage sons of another priest because they were envious of their share in the temple income. They killed the youths because of envy, and let their bodies to lie in the temple for several days… Being a kemetic or identifying as one doesn’t automatically make a person to become full of ma’at and justified and shining in rainbow halos. And your old injures and wounds don’t magically heal in one moment. Even for the Netjeru it takes time to heal you. Even the Wounded Eye restores in 15 days. Walking on the path of ma’at sometimes is like walking on sharp edges. And sometimes you are criticized for not being devoted enough; And sometimes someone takes offense if you look like being “too much” devoted…. And sometimes there are dark moments when you feel that no one but Netjer can hear your voice.
But of course the Maat prevails. And every small word of support, all the good wishes count, all prayer requests count, all good vibes count.
(via intaier)
Unfortunately, it involves people. And anytime people are involved there are always going to be some who abuse power or treat others badly for their own glory. There were certainly ancient priests who stole. On the positive side, I like that there’s no requirement that anyone pass some sort of Kemetic test to get into the afterlife- it’s based on your behavior. “ Your voices are as welcome and as invited into the light of Netjer and the glory of ma’at as any of those already here, and it isn’t because it ‘doesn’t matter’ what else you may be or where you may come from. It absolutely matters, because every unique, individual voice and each new story, lifestyle, belief, and culture that adds itself to Kemeticism is an educational boon to the rest of us. “ Very well said, IMO.
