"Ven. As your maker, don't EVER do that again. Ever."
“As my–” Ooooh, she was mad, she rarely used that term.
“But I didn’t do anything wrong! I just left the castle, Axel said I could!”
“Well I am too.” He dropped the mocking tone, but not his attitude. Crossing his arms over his chest, he looked back up at her, challenging her gaze.Â
“Then why haven’t I been told anything else about them this whole time? I’ve seen you two go off and talk about it, but you never tell me anything. I’m not a kid anymore, I want to know too!” Normally they didn’t argue like this, but he wanted to be taken seriously, treated like an adult even if he was stuck being 15 forever. “I won’t listen if you don’t.”
“He’s not like that, he does care about me. Sure, he’s done a lot of bad stuff, but what if he’s trying to fix it? He’s changed since the incident before… If you’re so worried about me getting hurt, why not train me? I want to learn how to use my abilities, and what forms I have, I want to be able to fend for myself. Of course I don’t want to get killed! But you two aren’t always going to be there…”
“I didn’t want to get you too worried,” Aqua countered, grinding her teeth. She exhaled through her nostrils, jaw clamped tightly. She couldn’t get mad now. She couldn’t. And she couldn’t admit that she was afraid he wasn’t out of his bloodrage. He never had a proper one. And throwing hunters in the mix might trigger something in him and make him snap like she did all of those years ago.
“Ven. Listen to me. As willing as I am to help you develop your powers, you are not going to face those hunters, directly or no. You know the deal. Each generation of vampires is weaker than the last. They’ve been hunting us before I was even turned. We don’t even want to go up against hunters, let alone that family. You are going nowhere near them, and you’re staying here until the coast is clear. Why do you think I’ve been around the castle more than usual? They’re becoming more active, Ven. You are not going out there, you are staying here until it’s safe.
“And don’t you dare bring Axel into this. You don’t know if he is, you only know what he’s done. You aren’t treating the situation like you should. You should be taking what he’s saying with a grain of salt, Ventus. Not believing every word. For fuck’s sake, Ventus! You don’t listen to a word I say, do you?”
