She anxiously tore a small paper napkin while seated at the small kitchen table. It wasn’t so much the question she was struggling with, but how to phrase it. How do you ask someone if you're doing your role right?
“You’re...happy?”, her attention was now turned towards Kantera. Although she didn’t show it, or at least she tried not to, she felt like a bundle of nerves. Of course she knew he’d answer with nothing short of a ‘Yes’ for her generic question. “With me, I mean...”

It was another day of drawing, reading, and just lounging around. Days like this are always welcomed, as they were nice and simple. She never felt rushed, nor worried about her situation. It was odd, not worrying about what she was doing was ‘Wrong’ and upsetting the other.
Kantera was calming to be around. He never seemed to express any form of anger, lest not towards her. Although its been awhile, she still had her moments of doubts if she was doing this whole thing wrong.
She tried her best not to ask too many questions, but she couldn’t shake off this feeling. Was she doing something wrong? If so, what? She made sure to be as well behaved as possible, to always be thankful, and to take her medicine whenever she fell ill no matter how icky it tasted. This is how a daughter is supposed to act, wasn’t it?

The moment he was able to come home, Allen started with writing down a lab report for his internship and only stopped once for a coffee break. He was a bit of a workaholic these days, so he was elated to get his hands on something productive to do.
But for a split second, he saw a glimpse of what must’ve looked like a black cat before he lost his balance. The good news being that he caught himself with the desk nearby and avoided hurting himself from falling over. However, the force of the fall caused the coffee mug that sat upon it to topple over - unfortunately spilling its contents all over his hard work.
His first reaction was to look for the culprit that knocked him over, but… he couldn’t find the creature no matter which nook and cranny in the room he searched through. It was impossible to enter the room with both the door and window being closed. The only logical conclusion he could draw upon here was that he must’ve imagined it. Clearly, he must’ve worked himself harder than he realized if he was both seeing things and getting weak.
Just fantastic.
Allen’s mind absently noted the sound of the front door opening as he allowed himself to take in the situation. And the moment he finished, he lightly bumped his head against the wall.
At least, he thought he bumped it lightly. It didn’t hurt too much, but it elicited a reaction from Mari. “Yeah.” Though it was just a one word response, the amount of despair that was laced in his tone of voice was incredibly evident.
Well that response was dreadful, it certainly didn’t sound like he was alright. Maybe she should check up on him first.Carefully, she made sure not to step or knock over any of the absently stacked books. Removing her jacket, she made her way towards Allen’s room. With a light knock on his door, she hesitantly opened it.
“Allen, are you alri-”
Already, she could see that things were far from alright from the coffee soaked paper laying on the desk. She wasn’t aware how he did it, nor was she going to ask. The only thing she could do was place a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
“Allen, you look exhausted. Why don’t I just grab some paper towels to help clean up the mess and grab something for us to eat?”

“I am— And I do! I don’t eat all of them, at least not often, I prefer to have other people try my stuff since its easier for me to get an HONEST opinion from others!”

Right, being a baker meant that you’d have to sell your treats and not eat them. Rule number 1 why she would make a terrible one. She was still excited to meet one, hopefully they could swap sweets!
“You know, I’ve tasted many different sweets. I could probably be an excellent taste tester! I’m very honest too!”

[now, Kantera was having a lovely little tea-and-cake party with the equally little Mary, so pink and perfect as she and her manor were, but something crossed his mind while they were conversing about all sorts of their favorite things!]
Oh! That does remind me, I believe you mentioned something about friends living in this place? So, I meant to ask…
Mary, since we are becoming ever-so-good friends, will I be allowed to meet these friends? And heavens me, I’m so excited - if so, when?
“Yes, I did say something like that…”
While she would rather have their time spent together without the fun and entertaining games that some of her Dreamfriends would play, she did feel bad for only having herself interact with Kantera. She was the one who pique his interest about her… Friends.
“Well, you see…”
Her mind quickly searched for an excuse that she haven’t used. He seems so excited though… Kantera wasn’t one to ask of much, and was always so patience with her. Honestly, she wish she could. They had their good traits, and can be fun to be around! Maybe just for today she can show one of them… Penn was always calming to be around, just like Kantera!
“He’s in his study, but I’m sure he would’t mind the visit!”

After fumbling around her bag, she finally found her set of apartment keys. She was so glad to finally make it back home before the storm hit. Walking home wet and tired wasn't something that was considered as pleasant, especially since her umbrella broke not too long ago.
Already she felt like taking a long nap on the blanket covered couch, but resisted and decided to eat something before then. Making her ways towards the kitchen, she heard a small 'thud'.
