ok @ Roxanne that line about resting easy was not okay mY HEART additionally, imagine that after they patch each other up, they put on a movie and somehow Thor starts playing with Sam's hair, braiding and unbraiding it. And Thor is so careful with Sam's hair, so gentle, that Sam feels unwanted tears spring into his eyes because he can't remember the last time someone took the time to be so careful with his body. Thor notices but doesn't say anything, understanding what's happening and knowing that pointing it out will only embarrass Sam. Instead, he simply pays more attention to the silky hair running between his fingers, massaging Sam's scalp and untangling any knots in his hair. Eventually Sam falls asleep like that, totally relaxed. Thor stays - he's a god after all, he doesn't need sleep. Sam doesn't have nightmares that night for the first time in months.
