· Carol forged assignment papers that placed her on the Enterprise in order to examine the torpedoes stationed within.
· She is rather intelligent, and followed in her father’s footsteps in seeking a career in Starfleet.
· She is deeply hurt by her father’s actions, and is still recovering from his deceit and violent death.
The plaster felt heavy on her broken leg, and made the limb even more cumbersome. The young women grit her teeth, staring down at the bandaging as if her glare alone would cause her leg to heal faster. She’d never broken a bone in her life and was thus unused to the restriction that it placed on one’s life. Dr. Carol Marcus was a no-nonsense type of woman, and would not delay her life because of one damaged leg. She hoisted herself up out of the hospital bed, glancing around the room. There had been no time to properly set and bandage her leg on the Enterprise, as the ship had been utter chaos in the aftermath of her return from her father’s ship. It was only after landing that she was given proper medical attention.
Not that she cared in the least. She’d gladly break every bone in her body if that meant her father would be brought back. Despite his betrayal and all that he had done, he was her father. True, she had been ashamed to be his child when she realized that he was planning on killing the entire crew of the Enterprise. But she knew, in his twisted way, that he’d just been trying to correct a mistake. He was her father, the man who used to sneak her sweets during his child custody visits and let her stay up far later than her mother allowed. Her heart ached for him.
Carol grabbed onto the bed rail, glancing about for anything to lean on. The nurse who’d cleaned up the remaining plaster had not thought to leave a crutch or cane of some type to aid her walking. The science officer pursed her lips before heading toward the door. Carol Marcus was nothing if not resourceful.
