violence is a disease -- you don't cure it by spreading it to other people.
One taught me love. One taught me patience. One taught me pain.
They spoke in American accents and they had all been taught a sort of eschatology in which they would one day return with their parents to Hollywood or New York. But they belonged to the rain forest and to the temple. And the geometry of the latter — its steps underfoot or its rise overhead, depending on where they grew up — was so primal to them that any talk of disassembly or reassembly struck them as abstract, almost paradoxical.

The good news is I have lied to you as little as possible.

Then, as a psychologist, I think you’re confusing suicide with self-destruction, and they’re very different. Almost none of us commit suicide, whereas almost all of us self-destruct. Somehow. In some part of our lives. We drink, or take drugs, or destabilize the happy job… or happy marriage. But these aren’t decisions. They’re impulses. And in fact, as a biologist, you’re better placed to explain them than me. What do you mean? Isn’t the self-destruction coded into us? Imprinted into each cell.
Well, you know, luck don’t live out here. Luck lives in the city. Don’t live out here. You know, that’s whether you get, you know, hit by a bus or not. Whether your bank is robbed or not, or whether someone’s on their damn cell phone when they come up to a crosswalk, that’s luck. That’s winning or losing. Out here, you survive or you surrender. Period. That’s determined by your strength and by your spirit. Wolves don’t kill unlucky deer. They kill the weak ones.

what a pleasant surprise to see your name pop up on my dash!
AHHHH OMG HI HI HI HOW’RE YOUUU??
edit: ok wow I meant to answer this privately but apparently this website is too much for my little brain
hello, again?
So yeah, hi -- I’m trying out being back here. I don’t know if anyone I knew/liked/loved is still following me and active (and I can’t bring myself to look, in case it’s all just pornbots or something). If so: hello hi wow long time, no see. In the period since I was last active I’ve gained three (!) Masters degrees and am now en route to my PhD so that’s a ~thing~ I guess. As a result of said PhDness I’m basically now even more boring than before, and watch little to no television. I miss it, though!! I miss long screams about Peggy Olson and debating The Newsroom’s Don Quixote parallels AT LENGTH and I miss writing Selena/Kent porn a LOT. But the new series of GoT seemed as good a time as any to trial a return, mainly bc I have A LOT OF FEELINGS.
So, yeah. Hi! How’s life?
-- tell them winter came for house frey.
— But I saw him. We saw each other. We found each other in the cosmos, and that was wonderful.
