Anne Warburton (1927-2015) was the first woman to ever serve as ambassador to the United Kingdom. She became the British ambassador to Denmark in 1976.
In 1983, she was appointed as British Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, but retired from her diplomatic career in 1985 to become President of Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge. She also served as a member of the Equal Opportunities Commission, and led an investigative mission into the treatment of Muslim women in Yugoslavia.
Adelaide Ames (1900-1932) was an early female astronomer. She was the first woman to obtain an MA in Astronomy from Radcliffe College.
After graduating, she worked for the Harvard College Observatory as a research assistant. She made important contributions to the study of galaxies, published in what is known as the Shapley-Ames catalog.

Elena Arizmendi (1884-1949) was a Mexican feminist activist who had a lasting influence on her country during the Mexican Revolution. She was a founder of the International League of Iberian and Latin American Women.
She studied to be a nurse, and founded the Neutral White Cross after the Red Cross refused to help insurgents during the war. She founded the Feminismo Internacional magazine, as well as the cooperative union Mujeres de la Raza (âWomen of the [Hispanic] Raceâ).
