WITCHES PROTECTION JAR SPELL
This can get a little nasty but it works like a DREAM.
What you'll need:
1 Jar with sealable lid
fingernail clippings, spit, hair (all optional)
rosemary (protection and warding)
bay leaf (protection)
nails (to pierce anything that means you harm)
garlic (banishing negativity, protection)
black pepper (banishing, protection)
your own urine (its okay, trust the process)
sharp objects (broken glass/mirror, nails, pins, needles, sticker burs, etc) (to destroy and break up or reflect any negativity that comes your way)
spanish moss (to entangle and trap negativity)
All these ingredients except the sharp objects and urine are optional. you can make one with just your urine and sharp objects. it's to protect you, not harm you, that's your intention so that's what the spell will do.
Using your own urine, nail clippings, hair, etc in the spell will make the spell jar act as a decoy. It is your taglock. Any spell cast your way will find the jar before it finds you and will leave you unscathed.
Fill the jar with all your ingredients, telling each what you need them to do (protect, protect me from harm, keep those from harming me, etc) Bury near your doorstep outside. Alternatively, you can keep it in a trash bag in the back of your closet in an apt or just your room. Just keep it dark and hidden. It'll be time to replace the jar when it is broken or shatters. Throw the whole damn thing away. do not reuse.

Spiritual Hearing Aid Spell
(for strengthening clairaudience)
What You'll Need:
an earring you wear everyday (a cartilage piercing or an inner ear piercing will work great for this. I used my conch stud)
the Ansuz Rune (represents wisdom and language)
a bowl of water (ideally moon water but you can use tap water)
a secondary smaller bowl
salt (sub sugar or plain rice)
mugwort (psychic abilities)
calendula (strength)
cinnamon (psychic abilities, strength, power)
eyebright (psychic abilities, mental clarity)
rosemary (mental clarity)
a purple candle
Herb Substitutes for strengthening psychic abilities: Bay leaves, peppermint, Rose, Thyme, Yarrow, Grass (yes, literal outside grass), Flax, Celery, Arnica.
Steps:
1) Fill your larger bowl with water and add a splash of moon water (tap water works in a pinch) 2) Set the smaller bowl inside of the larger bowl, do not let it fill with water, keep the inside of this bowl dry. 3) Fill the smaller bowl with a bed of salt (or rice) 4) Place your purple candle in the center 5) Write the Ansuz rune on some paper 6) Set the paper aside. 7) Add your earring and herbs to the bowl of water. All herbs will be for strengthening psychic powers and the rosemary is for clarity. 8) Light the candle and use the candle flame to burn the rune. Set it inside the innermost bowl next to the candle. 9) Focus your intention and power into the spell to make your earring a powerful hearing aid to make deity and entity communication clearer and more succinct. 10) After the candle burns down, take the earring out, disinfect it, and put it in your ear.
discard spell remains in any way that is most convenient for you.
You don't have to do this with an earring. I find it's easier to make the connection from the mundane to the magical because it is in your ear already. However, you can use a necklace for this, a nose ring, facial piercing jewelry, cartilage studs/rings, etc. Use what you have. Magic isn't about doing what everyone else is doing, it's about adapting it to be useful and purposeful for your own circumstances and situations. It's your craft, do what feels right for YOU.

A deity is a mystical presence, like a god, that is worshipped by individuals who believe it commands or wields influence over a characteristic of existence. In the witch world, many worship or work with deities or spirits. However, you never need to do this to be a valid witch, and always hold magic within yourself as well.
Worshipping Vs Working With:
Worship:
Worshipping is to believe, honor, and venerate a spirit or deity. This means not only believing in their existence, but admiring their power and displaying gratitude and loyalty towards them.
Working With:
Working with an entity is different than worshipping, although many consider it important to start worship before working with any spirit or deity. (That doesn’t mean stop when you start working with them though!) This is when an entity comes through with energy, messages, and is willing to guide you.
Terminology:

These epithets are repeated continuously in their ancient literary works, and this phrase is used to specify the characteristics of a deity or spirit.
Matron:

Patron:
A distinct Goddess or God you feel most connected and comfortable working in conjunction with, and is often displayed within their temperament. The number of patrons a human can have is a matter of choice, although most individuals choose one as their principal spirit.
Priest:
A priest is a human certified to execute the blessed traditions of a religion, deity, or spirit. A Priest is regarded as an authority, and often requires an initiation. This is also sometimes referred to as a High Priest.
Priestess:

Veneration:
To venerate is to worship, respect, and admire another. Metaphysically, veneration is often used as a term of worship to a spirit or deity. Unquestionable and unconditional belief can be associated with this term.
Although we don't worship deities as nature is our primary source of guidance and understanding, we recognize vital information for those seeking knowledge is crucial to obtain regardless of our lack of deity involvement. --Kate
EYE OF NEWT, WOOL OF BAT... HERB CODE NAMES IN WITCHCRAFT
"Filet of fenny snake, In the cauldron boil and bake; Eye Of Newt, and Toe Of Frog, Wool Of Bat, and Tongue Of Dog, Adder's Fork, and Blind Worm's Sting, Lizard's Leg and Owlet's Wing. For a charm of powerful trouble, Like a hell-broth boil and bubble" - Second Witch, Act IV Scene I, William Shakespeare's Macbeth.
Though, Shakespeare was a master of manipulating words, he doesn't get credit for the macabre sounding ingredients in Macbeth's witches' brew. In fact, as long as mankind has been using plants for food and medicine, we have given them interesting folk names. Throughout history, commonly used plants and herbs have been given different names based on certain attributes of the plant, it's growth habits or even specific reasons it was used for. Common dandelion has been called bitterwort, for it's strong and bitter taste, blowball and puffball because of it's seeding habits, lion's tooth for it's deeply serrated foliage and piss-in-the-bed because of it's diuretic properties. Depending on where you live, you may call Glechoma hederacea creeping charlie or ground ivy; it's also gone by gill over the ground, runaway robin, and lizzie run up the hedge because of it's aggressive runners, cat's foot for the shape of it's leaves, alehoof because it was commonly used in the making of beer and ale, and field balm because it has been used for as a general heal-all herb for balms, salves and teas for thousands of years.
Witches were specifically careful to guard their herbal secrets. They came up with odd and grisly sounding folk names for the plants they regularly used, like eye of newt for mustard seed or wool of bat for moss. Many historians believe that witches used these gruesome sounding names so that their spells and herbal remedies could not be easily copied. Back in Shakespearean times, those who were labeled as witches were usually herbalist, midwives and healers; their livelihood often depended on their knowledge of herbs and their uses. Therefore they created secret code names for the plants they used.
In some cases certain body parts were used as code for the part of the plant used in a spell or herbal remedy. For example, "eye of…" would usually refer to a round shaped blossom or seed of a specific plant; as in eye of newt, which is simply mustard seed. In some cases, an animal name was used in place of a plant name, just like the "newt" would represent mustard plant in eye of newt. Below I've listed some of the common body parts in witchy plant names and their meaning, as well as commonly used animal code names.
BODY PARTS AS PLANT PARTS Eye- Blossom or Seed Heart- Bud or Seed Beak, Bill or Nose- Seed, Bud or Bloom Tongue or Teeth- Petal or Leaf Head- Blossom Tail- Stem Hair- Dried Herbs or Stringy Parts Of Herbs Privates, Genitals Or Semen- Seeds Or Sap Blood-Sap Guts- Roots or Stalk Paw, Foot, Leg, Wing or Toe- Leaves
PLANT NAMES AS ANIMALS Toad- Sage Cat- Catmint Dog- Grasses, Specifically Couchgrass Frog- Cinquefoil Eagle- Wild Garlic Blue Jay- Laurel Hawk- Hawkweed Lamb-Wild Lettuce Nightingale- Hops Rat- Valerian Weasel- Rue Woodpecker- Peony
Secret codes among witches and herbalists There are many other animal/plant associations, and even associations to gods and mythological beings, that were used as plant code names. Like folk names, witchy plant names would have changed by region and era. By combining a body part and an animal from simple lists like these as a code, a witch or herbalist could keep the ingredients of their spell or remedy secret. For example a witch who wanted to sell her herbs might list the ingredients of a tea for insomnia as rat guts and blood of lamb, instead of just valerian root and wild lettuce sap. This would not only prevent the customer from just growing their own valerian (which is actually heliotrope) and wild lettuce, but it also had a much more official witchy sound. Even though these names were crude and sometimes vile, they made the healer sound more legit and gave the tired consumer confidence that they finally found the one magical cure.
Some of these names are still in use today! These days, there are many almanacs of magical herbs and herbal grimmoires available online or at bookstores, that list out Witch Herb/Plant names and even details their uses. Just for fun, I will leave you with a list of some of my favorite witchy plant names.
