every hundred years, the gods come back. they take possession of twelve celebrities and form the Pantheon, a collective that burns bright as a firework for two years, and then disappears. so it has been, since the beginning of time, as inevitable as the rising of the sun. but this time, things have changed. this time, a god has died. her fans and believers rioted, her fellow gods rebelled. the world has been thrown out of balance, and we don’t know what to expect. what happens when a god dies? all we know is this: THE NEW GODS ARE ARRIVING. AND WE ARE NOT PREPARED.
I was wondering if you have any alt. fc's for Marisa, because I absolutely love her character but Lindsey just doesn't work on me.
while I think Lindsey fits the character the best, in the past I’ve listed Christian Serratos and Seychelle Gabriel as acceptable alternates for Marisa, so either of them would be okay!
you can apply, anon! as I mentioned in my last post, I’m a little scattered right now and not online as much as I’d like to be, and the group obviously isn’t as active as it usually is, but I’d never let that stop someone interested from joining. I’ve been checking up on the inbox here at least once every other day, but if you have any pressing questions you can contact my writing blog ( @chrysalis-writes ) and I can answer them from there, as well.
I’m so sorry for the delay on the next event, and for my relative radio silence for the past few days. I just recently returned home from a trip out of the country and a family member of mine is very sick right now and in and out of the hospital, so my energy and time have had to be focused there rather than here, and likely will for the foreseeable future.
Because of this, for at least the next week or two I will probably not be able to answer questions on here or post the new event, and I will not be doing anything like activity checks or filling the promo queue. I know I risk everyone disappearing by doing this, but I hope that when I am able to be back and dedicate the attention I need to this group, that those of you who have stuck around will still be here.
I’m so sorry for this to everyone who has stuck around. I know we just recently came back from hiatus and that things have been slow ever since, and I’m very sorry, but I hope you will all understand that my priorities need to lie with my offline life at the moment.
I will keep you all updated as I can, but again, probably won’t be able to answer questions in any timely fashion.
While I announced earlier that I hoped to have the evnet post for Lucifer’s Trial up tomorrow, I will actually be going on an unexpected trip to Belfast for the day and won’t have a chance to get the post up -- instead, the event will begin early next week. Sorry for the delay!
Good morning, everyone! just stopping in to let you all know that if all goes as planned I’m hoping to have the event post for our next event, Lucifer’s Trial up on this Friday, March 3. this should give everyone time to wrap up their post-concert threads and gear up for the trial, which will be an ongoing event for the next few weeks.
with the event dropping on Friday, this also means that I will be holding acceptances on Thursday, March 2 -- I haven’t decided on a time, yet, as I’m on vacation at the moment and don’t know what my schedule Thursday will look like, but this should give anyone interested in applying a few days to get an application ready, and I’ll provide more details as Thursday draws closer!
we’ve got plenty of open characters, right now, and with the trail I would particularly love to see an application for Tristan Marshall or Sofia Morales! now that I’m settled in for my vacation, I should be online regularly to answer any questions anyone may have--
the following characters have been inactive for at least seven days and will need to post a reply or contact the main within 48 hours or their role will be re-opened or retired:
Marisa Vega ( @marisavega )
Ken Suzuki ( @kensuzukis )
Phoebe Hunter ( @ginandturpentine )
the following characters’ hiatuses have expired, and they will need to either post or contact the main to extend their hiatus within the next seven days or their role will be re-opened:
Hello! I promise I've read every page on this blog but I can't find out when you accept next. I work better with a deadline and it's always nice to know what day I should be looking forward to! Thank you! <3
no worries, anon! I don’t set an acceptance date until I have an application in my inbox, as my schedule is pretty variable from week to week with working 3 jobs, so usually what I do is set a date for 2-3 days after I get an application – however, if you work better with a deadline, I will say that I would love to be able to accept Tuesday the 21st at 10pm EST if you can get something in by then.
if that doesn’t work for you, I could probably arrange an acceptance on Friday the 24th, but I’ll be flying to another country/timezone midweek so I can’t be any more specific than that at the moment. feel free to let me know what works for you!
of course, anon! here are a few prompts for Alexander Pang -- I’d love to see an application for him, so let me know if you need anything else:
1. I get this sudden sinking feeling of a man about to fly -- Alexander always assumed he’d be stronger than letting some failed love, some ex boyfriend, some past wrong keep him from making progress with his life and moving on, and yet he feels like he’s in high school all over again. there has to be something more to his anger with the gods, his feelings for Mikey, than just the too-long grudge of a spurned lover, doesn’t there? something deeper at work? write about regret. write about loss. write about scapegoats.
2. I am a wolf among the sheep gnawing at the wool over my eyes -- no two members of the Children of the Light have the same motives, but something about Alexander feels markedly different. how does he related, to the other Children? who does he agree with, and where do tensions lie? who does he look up to? who does he avoid? and what, after all, is his ideal, what would happen in a world where he singlehandedly determined the outcome? write about companionship. write about admiration. write about conflict.
3. killed my old self but the new me isn’t much better -- always moving, always changing, always growing, and yet even here, where Alexander thought for a second that he might have everything, he’s still unsatisfied. unfulfilled? restless, at the very least. he’s good at his work, he’s comfortable with who he is, but there’s something missing, still, and isn’t there always? write about insecurity. write about anxiety. write about feeling whole.
it comes like the rain: a drop here, a ripple there, and then suddenly it has begun, the downpour.
you hear music, before you see her, only it doesn’t sound like music, at first. it sounds like the pattering of rain, and only after you’ve heard it can you feel it, the rain falling from a perfectly cloudless night sky, as if it were falling directly from the stars themselves, silhouetted against their blinding brightness. you feel the rain, on your skin, and then the patter become a drumbeat, and a wordless melody begins.
the crowd parts, in one fluid motion, like the passage of a great wave through the sea of bodies, and suddenly you see her, standing alone in the center of the throng , lit in the darkness as if glowing from within. she’s dancing -- that’s the only word for it, even though you aren’t entirely confident that’s what it is, strange movements, inhuman in their quality, a rapid shifting from fluidity to sharpness, like a mantis and then like a breeze.
you watch her dance for one moment, and then what you’re seeing isn’t the park, anymore, isn’t the crowd of people that surrounds here, the stars and the rain and the light filtering in from the city around you. it is as if you’re seeing everything, all at once, the infinite breadth of space and every drop of rain on the planet. the thunder provides a steady beat, for the dance, the lightning a strobing spotlight.
Oya is dancing. and you?
you are flying.
IN CHARACTER INFORMATION:
the morning after the concert, papers were already reporting claims that the “rain” present at Oya’s concert was water drugged with hallucinogenics; all of the gods present, however, seemed content to concede Oya’s divinity before leaving the concert at the end of the night, and their various statements had been tweeted out by the fans closest to them and retweeted millions of times before sunrise.
the message, from the Pantheon, was clear: Oya is one of them, just as much as any of the other gods.
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION:
threads may now proceed past 10:30 pm on August 6th into the rest of the night and the next day; you may wrap up threads from before 10:30 and from before the event, but the plot will now shift to during and after Oya’s appearance, and the day following.
congratulations, SUZIE! you have been accepted as RILEY CARMICHAEL! Suzie, I was so pleasantly surprised to see an app for Riley in my inbox, and even more pleasantly surprised to see just how absolutely perfect it was -- if I could have accepted it on the spot, I would have, because your portrayal of Riley is, in every dimension, exactly what I was hoping for. From their struggle with their faith to their stubborn independence, from the expectations they left behind to everything they are still striving to live up to, I cannot wait to see Riley around on the dash. one part of your app that particularly stood out to me was:
Riley themselves might not be a bad influence, but they’d be easily lead astray by one. If it sounds fun, or interesting, or different - they’re in, consequences be damned. Not that they’ve ever had to worry about consequences. A mixture of their parents’ money and influence has always been their safety net, and up until the first night they had to sleep in a Walmart car park, they’d never actually appreciated it. Standing on their own in a place like New York, it’s easy to want to experience everything and anything. It’s harder to remember that they’re not the independent adult they think they are, and that one bad decision, one issue with the police, could have them shipped straight back to Texas.
be sure to check out the welcome page, and submit your blog within 24 hours. I’m so excited to have you in the group; welcome to heretics!

Nobody remembers the gods, or at least nobody remembers what the gods really were. Three thousands years ago they were untouchable idols of power and divinity. The gods were loved, and feared, and worshiped. They best of what you had was given to the gods, and any selfishness was viewed as apostasy. No one questioned their reign, and no one dared defy them for fear of the retribution. The gods were all-mighty and petty beyond belief; everyone was kept in line that way.
In the years since, the gods have turned into something of a joke; twisted and reformed into farces of their former selves. Modern cultural perceptions of what has now been deemed as ancient Greek ‘mythology’ paint the gods as over the top caricatures of what they one were. It’s unflattering, and for some gods, even humiliating. With every new interpretation, the world seems to get further and further away from taking the gods seriously.
At the dawn of the twenty first century, the gods and titans made and agreement. They renounced their title, powers, and immortality to join in with the rest of society. But the call of power was too hard to resist, and as a result the divine made their names in a less than legal way- it was no matter to them, believing themselves above the law regardless. But as the mobs formed, old animosity took its form: two distinct mobs: the Titans and the Olympians.
