Sedona, AZ
Ahhh, Sedona. One of my personal favorite destinations. The little town hidden away in the northern desert has become quite the tourist spot within Arizona and for good reason. Sedona is surrounded by magnificent red rock mountains that present breathtaking scenery. So if you're one to enjoy nature and scenic views, Sedona is the place for you.
The town of Sedona is small but busy. With the town being located to the north of Phoenix, the climate of the area is less hot than the desert and yet not far enough north for it to be too cold; therefore making it a perfect getaway with perfect weather throughout most of the year. Although small, the town has quite a collection of activities to do. Like playing sports? There's a gorgeous golf course found towards the front of the town. Enjoy art? Sedona has many local art galleries to visit. Enjoy shopping? There are plenty of shops, often unique local businesses ranging from antiques, clothes, and jewelry, for you to shop til you drop. But at the end of the day, Sedona is most frequently visited for one thing- hiking!
Sedona has many different and unique hiking tails to offer for any type of outdoorsman. Some trails are low intensity and easily accessible whereas other trails are more daring, walking along cliffs and reaching great heights. Some trails have rivers that you may have to walk through and some encounter historic sights. But what if you want to see the sights but don't have the ability to hike? Well there's a few local Jeep tours where a guide will drive you up to different mountains depending on the tour you sign up for- no walking necessary! With the large variety of places to go, it's always good to check online or with the locals to do some research to find out which trails appeal most to you. But no matter which trail you choose, you'll be surrounded by Sedona's beauty anywhere you go. Want to take the outdoors life a step further? Sedona offers a few camping grounds located near some of their most popular hiking trails so if you decide to stay for the weekend, grab a tent and bring some firewood.
So if you're ever looking for a place to get away from the city and want to connect with come nature, that is what Sedona and their red rocks are all about. You could either plan a day trip or stay for a weekend in the town and if you plan accordingly I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time. Sedona is also known to be a popular spot for low key honeymoons and weddings, for the environment and atmosphere of the town brings a air of romance. So if you ever plan on making a trip to the sunny state of Arizona, Sedona is a must.
