The ceremony of installing the Zobor Deed into the Legacy of Charlemagne / the Story of Prague Castle exhibitions at the Prague Castle on October 1st, 2015.
The original Zobor Deed exhibited
A precious exhibit was installed in the Legacy of Charlemagne exhibition at the Prague Castle, Czech Republic. The original of the younger of two Zobor Deeds dating to 1111 and 1113 AD is showed to public in the Old Royal Palace at the Prague Castle, also within the exhibition of The Story of Prague Castle.
The two Zobor Deeds are the two oldest written documents of the economic character originated from the territory of Slovakia. The deeds confirm the privileges and properties of the Zobor Abbey, the benedictine monastery founded in the 9th century. The younger deed was compiled by Abbot Gaufred of Zobor, written at the Nitra Chapter and sealed by Bishop Menases of Zagreb on the order of the ruling king of Hungary.
One of the villages forming part of the Zobor Abbey's property was Kostoľany pod Tribečom which takes part in the Heritage Route.
The original Zobor Deed from 1113 was installed into exhibition by the head of actual Nitra bishopric that is the owner of the document, His Excellence Mons. Viliam Judák, accompanied by His Eminence Dominik cardinal Duka of Prague and the curator of the Slovak part of the exhibition dr. Peter Baxa and the chef curator dr. Jana Maříková-Kubková on October 1st, 2015.
The original deed may be seen until October 14th, 2015.
