mild panic. a violent inhale. she’s trailing after him like a child, or a puppy. or a fish. gasping for air. he’s got a treat dangling on the end of his tongue. threatening to take it all back right as she’s about to bite. ❛ hey --- no ! you can’t do that. ❜ she knows what he’s thinking. he can do anything he likes. but the curiosity pries fingers between her teeth. mouth hung open. she’s not ready to be disappointed. but she fears even if he does spill, she’ll be disappointed now that she has made such a fuss about it.

@cohleric & @girlsouth is also where i’m @
A BRIEF HISTORY ,
- nic is the oldest of three children. - they traveled often all throughout childhood due to nic’s father’s military career. he retired when she was sixteen. - her mother and father were high school sweethearts. - her mother had a career in theater and dance, becoming a well known instructor for ballet. - while her mother grew up in new york, her father grew up in texas. both of them settled with their children somewhere in between. - her siblings are matthew and natalie. - matthew followed his father, enlisting in the military. natalie, being the youngest, was into the arts but as a painter. - her whole life she was prompted by her mother to become a dancer. so she did just that, but never enjoyed it as much as her mother hoped. she was a rebellious child, just like her younger sister. only she didn’t get away with as much as natalie did. - she got a scholarship to a university for the arts in new york city. she attended the school for three years, but dropped out. - natalie, who never got along with their parents, would often run away. but the last time, she hitchhiked all the way to new york to find her sister. nic, unable to house her sister, decided to drive her all the way back to their parents’ house. somewhere along the way, they got into a car accident. resulting in natalie’s death. the grief was too much --- so nicole dropped out of school and lived on her own for a while in new york. - after a year or so on her own, she decided to enlist in the military, like her father and brother. unsure of what to do with her life. unsure of why. thinking it might spark some pride in her mother and father’s hearts to see their daughter in uniform. however, what she received was disappointment. but by that time, it was too late to turn back. - as a marine, she was sent to participate in the invasion of iraq in 2003. - she served for five years as a u.s. marine, and was honorably discharged after injury. - after her discharge, she lived in the same town as her parents. unsure of what to do next. living in the same town became a nuisance --- constantly being berated by her parents and their friends. she had no direction, and due to the injury she would never make it as a dancer ( although her mother still holds hope ) - after a year or so, she decided to move again. this time, to texas. she liked the small towns, the desert, culture. she traveled until the money ran out. by that time she had settled on law enforcement being one of her options. and having a military career boosted her reputation among local precincts. she was offered a job in odessa as a vice agent. working within the community between busting drug deals, illegal sale, and potential trafficking. she did well in these positions almost instantly. while she may not have always gotten along with her peers, a lot of the local people she came in contact with enjoyed her company. - she was often sent between odessa and el paso. - she was stationed in a vice unit that coveted a particularly busy club. she was half undercover, half in the open. she participated mostly as a bartender and one of the club’s managers. after two years she was asked to go deeper undercover with the narcotics division. working alongside local law enforcement and the dea as an informant. - one of the cases she worked on involved several working women going missing and ending up dead. she had experience working alongside homicide detectives for several months but they never found out who was abducting the women. another case involved illegal distribution of pornography involving teenagers. - the only information given about her time undercover was that her label was “ an instigator “. rumored that she used her experience in the club as a manager to become familiar with suspects. becoming deeply involved with high priority persons of interest. it is also rumored she went undercover as a high priority POI’s girlfriend. - she was officially undercover for two years. but the total is more realistically between three to four years of experience. - after she was released from her position she was advised to retire. she refused. she had the choice between working in nevada as an experienced vice officer, or go to south - east texas as a homicide detective. she chose homicide.

i think if someone ever told nic that they were proud of her, she’d literally die
one time someone in the office called nic “ angel face “ and she literally puked on his shoes .
Friendship is anything that you get something out of that is very, very important to you. And that’s why there are those people who are so close to you that you don’t know how you’d live without them. And they are the ones that, even if they do something terrible, you have to keep. Otherwise, you’re just going to be lost without them.
