Jirou was really starting to get comfortable in the music stores. Sure, they didn’t always have the highest quality items, but it was a nice change of pace compared to some of the snobbier stores Jirou had seen on the island. This would be her third trip within the past weeks to a music store in search of something that could rock her to her core.
Unfortunately the sounds of Fleeting Pines and Tomorrow is for Suckers were not enough last time, so Jirou decided to maybe step away from the super indie scene this time. Perhaps The Neutronites or The Wasps were possibilities this time? Of course, these were more mainstream bands, and probably wouldn’t create any meaningful connections for Jirou to listen to in the longterm.
Jirou had just picked up a copy of Bleed for You: the soundtrack to the hit Adam Sandler film He’s My Mailman, when she heard a not so distant mumbling. Jirou quickly set the album back down, hoping the mumbling would stop when she set the album back down.
It didn’t stop. In fact it persisted. She sighed, glad for a moment that she wasn’t the subject. Though now she would have to investigate, since the mumbling was disturbing others in the shop. She poked her head around the aisle, her head facing towards the instruments. Ah ha! She spotted a patch of green attached to a plain boy a few rows down, mumbling loudly to himself.
Jirou unfortunately knew this nerd making a scene, though she didn’t recognize him as well without piles of bandages and braces. It was Midoriya! Jirou quickly moved over to the boy, pushing her elbow ever so slightly into his back. He was a few inches taller than her, but it was more obvious up close. She wasn’t listening very closely, but she understood the gist of his rambling.
“So, you like jazz Midoriya?” Jirou smiled, somewhat glad to see her classmate, despite the circumstances it was great to see him. “But you know, most people ask the employees when they want to know more about the instruments.” Or they test them out in Jirou’s case, though that’s not recommended. “I think you would look funny with a saxophone, but knowing you it would work out somehow.” She points to the instrument with her jack. “That’s what you were talking about, right?”
Hearing Jirou’s voice pop up didn’t come as a surprise to Midoriya, actually it was pretty expected due to how well his friend knew about instruments. Hell, he even watched her teach a few classmates how to play certain things or help them improve-- which was rather amazing.
That concert they had was amazing.
“O-oh! Yeah, actually!” He scratched the back of his head as he glanced over to Jirou, “I like tons of music, actually.”
Which was true, his playlists back at home were jam packed with certain artists from Queen to Alexandros and so many others in between. In fact, he was also a big fan of metal. But, only a few people knew that.
Ever since he started listening to Present Mic’s radio show all those years ago, the pro hero honestly helped him expand his music genres majorly. But, there was the help of him figuring out a few bands All Might liked as well-- but he didn’t say a word about that to anyone.
“I would, wouldn’t I?” Midoriya chuckled, “I think I would look ridiculous with any instrument honestly! But, I was just looking-- I mean I would probably be pretty bad at playing an instrument so I didn’t really want to bother the employees here.”
He fumbled over his words before quieting down and simply nodding when she pointed over to one of the saxophones. He wrung his hands together as he gazed up at it, thoughtfully. Maybe it didn’t... Work out for him, even though he had a good lung capacity with how much he talked without stopping for a breath of air.
“Actually,” he adjusted his right hand-- it was stiff-- as he looked over to Jirou. An Idea popping up into his mind, “You’re amazing at the guitar, right? Actually that’s a silly question, I know you’re amazing with the guitar. But would you teach me how to play?”
He tried to leave off the part of how it would help his coordination, maybe help loosen up his stiff right hand a little or at least do something with it. A different form of exercise therapy, yeah.
