Look up. Blue eyes peer on the crowd before him. Sweat dripping down the back of his neck. The heat of the crowd, the heat of the lights. Finger wrapped around neck of his sitar, out of everybody in the group his instrument was the least how one would say normal. Yet with practice he was able to support the band with its sweet subtle melodies. Now today was the day they practiced for. Name unknown but people will in due time recognize them.
Another breath, a faint tapping of nerves followed the beating of his darkened heart. Whatever his past, this was now his present and future. He’s gotta kick it off with style. A smirk fell upon his as he pointed a finger to the crowd before returning to the base of his sitar. Digits plucked at strings.
One chord, made water vapors form around him, a second pulled them together into a ball. The hovering orb of water rising above him. A third made it expand and as he continued playing the water took on different shapes, waving banners, spiraling stars, and dancing musical notes.
A surge of positive energy flows through him as their set continues, the water above them rising and falling, becoming rain that dissipates before they reached the band. Who said nobodies lacked emotion never met him. He kept up with the pace of the song, looking over to his fellow bandmates and giving a few of them a nod. Blonde hair whipping back and forth as he rocked his head, fully feeling their piece.
For once in a long time. He felt like he belonged.

And with that, the band played on, each one filled with their own thoughts and passions. Jirou could only wonder where each mind landed, but she could only hope they were as happy as she was in those moments.
The water overhead, the audience underneath, and the band in the middle, putting everything they could into their performance. There had been music played before them, and would certainly have music played after them, but this moment. Oh, this moment belonged to the band, and no one could ever forget that.
Like we’re seventeen again...
As the music started to fade and the instruments with it, there was a moment of silence from the audience. Throughout the performance, a surprisingly large amount of people had started to appear, finding themselves entranced by the music. And with a large crowd brings a large noise.
As the band with no name was silenced, the audience roared with applause, sound coming from throughout the area. Jirou spotted a few faces in the crowd, including a familiar girl with long black hair in a high ponytail. She couldn’t have been happier knowing people like her were in the audience, and it showed. Jirou’s face lit up, the exhaustion from playing her bass masked by the largest smile anyone in the band had ever seen on her. She wasn’t known for being reserved by any means, but it was still so bright, so fleeting.
As the audience started to quiet down, Jirou looked side to side, trying to lock eyes with each member of the band. You can really learn about a person from jamming with them, and seeing it all on stage just meant she could see even more of them. These were all her dear friends now, regardless of how they acted or what they said. As she had this thought, the rain from a certain sitarist continued to fall, reaching the audience and leaving them an odd sloppy mess. There was definitely at least one comment from an audience member along the lines of ‘demyx makes me so wet’.
Jirou didn’t notice this of course, as she was very far away from any peculiar weirdos, and was taking Rin’s microphone. She smiled and nodded at one of the three blondes in the band, thanking her with her eyes. Jirou took a deep breath, trying to calm her even more exhausted mind. She could only hope the speakers weren’t ruined from Demyx’s rainfall.
“Thank you for joining us today! Normally this is where I would say our band name and to check us out, but we never came up with one! So for now, thank you so much for watching us play, and please watch out for any future performances. I know I’ll be there, and hopefully you will be too!”
She held onto the microphone still, her exhaustion starting to catch up to her. They did it, all of them. She was so damn proud of them, and could only wish she knew how to express it.
That, and she would crash sleeping on the first person she could use as a pillow. This would be Rin, after the show. Jirou turned back to the band, her smile still there, warm like the sun. Her arms fell to her sides, the microphone far enough away to properly say what she really wanted to say.
“We did it everyone. You all did amazing and I couldn’t ask for better bandmates. But let’s get out of here before they realize the equipment might be damaged. I think there’s a diner close by and I’m starving.”
