{{ Hey, all, it’s DJ here. I’m going to be spending my time on other blogs. Laun.chpad isn’t gone per say, but I need to distance myself from the D.T fandom/ Dark.wing fandom, etc. Nothing new has happened that’s made me make this decision; don’t think I’ve been recently bullied or anything. It’s just that I’ve realized through my other blogs that there are still positive communities out there, communities that support creativity and fun of all varieties with no strings attached. 

The drama that happened in this fandom? Utterly ridiculous and awful. Disgusting. I’m saying goodbye to all of that negative energy. This blog will remain here. I may come back to it. Who can really say? But for now, ol’ L.P is headed off into the sunset. -DJ }}

“Damien Addams... Damien Addams... Damien...” Launchpad thought long and hard about the name. 

“Nope, doesn’t ring a bell. At least, not the first name. The last name though? There’re a few Addams that’ve done work for the local air shows. Rocky Addams, he was the announcer for a lotta years. Then his son, Junior, took over a year or two ago. I wonder if they’re related to Damien somehow? Might be worth askin’.”

“Junior should be in town if his dad’s not; there’s an air show happening in a week. He’s gotta prep like everyone else. At this time of day, he’d probably be up in the watch tower running through his script for the show.”

{{ Rising outta the grave on main just to tell y’all I think the new DW comic has failed in capturing any essence of ANY of the characters. The storytelling isn’t up to snuff, point blank.

It’s bland, in no way funny, and there are lots of OOC moments for virtually all characters involved. Drake wants to suddenly become Herb 2.0 outta nowhere? Drake needs a REASON to do that. Not 'just because the author says so'. LP just blandly exiting scene to ‘find a new hero to be a sidekick to’ after Drake says he's going suburban? Bull. LP’s as much about family as he is heroics even in Darkwing. That man has a thick, fan-fold list of wacky family fun activities ready to go in his pocket just for a proverbial rainy day. Megavolt just- yeeting off??? Without explanation really??????? Why is Herb here and Binkie isn't? What about Tank? Why is Zan so utterly prominent in this comic book?? She's a DT17 character, not a Darkwing character.

I hear one person shouting in back that she was in DT17's way-too-obvious backdoor pilot for Darkwing's reboot. She was mayor in that episode. Very well. If Zan just HAS to be in this comic as the mayor of St. Canard because people can't live and breathe without her and because she's soooo integral to Darkwing lore despite not being in Darkwing canon up until DT17, and she's just a footnote of a character even in that, she should be busy doing mayor stuff, 99% out-of-panel. She should only be interacting with plot in a major way if crimefighting overlaps with mayoral duties, or crime is directly affecting her or her office. She shouldn't be hogging the actual main cast's time in such a limited run comic series like she's doing. Especially when she's written like cardboard. Also, since when does the mayor employ Darkwing? SHUSH does that. J. Gander Hooter specifically. And Darkwing's never had a 'bat signal' to be called upon with. He's far more based off of The Shadow, Batman's predecessor and inspiration.

Even artistically speaking the run is bad. Characters are pose-copied from official artwork as well as from from the fandom big dogs' fan art, backgrounds just don't freakin' exist in a lot of panels, and IMO there's just no life in the drawings whatsoever. They're really quite stiff and strained feeling. Which stinks to say because the guy they hired does work for Topolino, a comic that seem to hold the artist in prestige and always chooses good talents... Plus, when you go to his Insta, you can see a difference in quality very clearly between Darkwing and Topolino. He can do good work for sure! It’s like they seriously rush-jobbed him for this mini-series. 'Here! You're on Darkwing now! You've got zero time to learn how to draw all these characters and gather reference materials to help you out! Oh and you have a week to finish drawing the first and second issue. Good luck, sucker!'

Anyways, to sum it up and reiterate my big point: the book is bad. I could've written a better mini-series plot by doing improv with you guys. It would've been way more genuinely Darkwing than what we got. And I feel bad that the artist involved wasn't given a proper chance to showcase his actual talents. }}
