Satisfaction rolled over Frost like a crashing wave at the sight of Ivyâs face lighting up with laughter. Like a flash of lightning, amusement appeared in her eyes and it almost dazzled the runner. Sheâd let the Seelie satisfy themselves with the sunlight, Frost had always preferred the dark and stormy. Ivy was no exception. Frost took delight in the overseerâs presence at the rookery, intrigued by the mystery that surrounded the once-human. She kept her on her toes.Â
âItâs all about time nowadays.â Frost shrugged but thoughtful look slipped onto her face. âA prize?â She crossed her arms over her chest, rocking back on her heels. âYou knowâŠthatâs the big questionâŠwhat do I want?â She stopped rocking, emboldened by a bolt of wickedness. âIf I win, Ivy, you have to go to our sweet, sweet friend, Ro and you need to ask her on a date.â Immediately, Frost waved her hand after speaking. âProper two hour date, at least dinner but the rest is to your creativity.â
âBut if you win? What do you want?â
Her brows visibly rose, dark eyes widening ever so slightly. Ask Ro on a date. Holy fucking Christ. She swore she felt her heart skip a beat at the thought, something giddy but decidedly nervous swooping around inside her chest, wings caught in a loop. âOh God,â she muttered, pinching the bridge of her nose, a grudging smile hidden behind her hand. How could she evenâ could she do that?
Allow herself to be vulnerable enough to ask?
ââ âf I win, youâre gonna do.. fuckinâ naked cartwheels down the street, oh my fucking God.â The laughter rose again, lighter than sheâd felt in a long time, despite the wager Frost had put on the proverbial table.
âThat obvious, huh.â Another little smile, like she just couldnât shake the laughter.
