Sherlock vs the bad guys (and John)
He said that he would acquire no knowledge which did not bear upon his object. Therefore all the knowledge which he possessed was such as would be useful to him. I enumerated in my own mind all the various points upon which he had shown me that he was exceptionally well informed. I even took a pencil and jotted them down. I could not help smiling at the document when I had completed it. It ran this way:
What did you think of Hero Fiennes Tiffin's go as Sherlock in Young Sherlock?
I was prepared to be underwhelmed based on the trailers but when I watched the show, by the end, I was so fond of him !!! The scene when he's at the table with everyone and thinks Mycroft betrayed him and their mother - his face is sooooo heartbreaking I had a damn lump in my throat !!! I think he did a really great job of having all of Sherlock's raw talents but almost none of the refinement and command of those talents (he's still cooking let him cook!!!). Same with his emotionality, which all felt very in line with how Sherlock is when he's older (i.e his specific sense of justice, empathy/sympathy for ppl others tend to discard, anger at apathy, frustration at the unobservedness of others, etc) but because he's younger hft played these more tenderly than a more grown up version would. He also had great chemistry with everyone in the cast (especially Donal but that's obvious), which is to say the cast generally had great chemistry, and also yk his uncle was playing his dad so there's that caveat. but still, no mean feat to play a version of Sherlock within a dynamic never really seen before (the bestfrienememies of it all) and pull it off so memorably. The scenes where he was helping his mum escape the asylum while acting like everything is fine so not to scare her were sooo good. I really really really REALLY hope we get another season cos I have got to see him and Donal Finn execute the on screen bestfrienememies break up of the decade, or I might just walk into the ocean and become an amoeba ❤️

BROTHER & SISTER Young Sherlock | 1.03 "The Case of the Unarmed Man"
I love how Sherlock is so openly gentle and soft with his mother, as opposed to his cheeky attitude with others. At one point in the story, Sherlock's biggest motivation to seek the ugly truth wasn't his intellectual curiousity, but his love for Cordelia. He was so scared and confused, but this boy saw his mother suffering and said this had to end now.
Like, there are fair critcisms for the show's depiction of Sherlock, compared to the original stories. Still, I can't help but have a soft spot for him just for this alone.
I reblogged this yesterday, but I want to reblog it again. Diabetic ketoacidosis turns your blood acidic and will essentially burn you from the inside out.
The stories you hear of people dying from rationing, this is what happens to their body.
Affordable insulin isn’t just a right, it’s a necessity.
No one should have to die like that when it’s preventable with access to proper medication.
"Affordable" should be the lowest fucking bar. Pharmaceutical companies should be tripping over themselves to offer insulin at "affordable". That shit deserves to be fucking free
There'll be statues of him all over the place.

Happy Mother's Day to these two
1) any stretching is better than no stretching
2) any vegetable is better than no vegetable
3) statistically you will never be the worst person at anything, there is always someone in the world who is worse at stuff than you are
"everyone should get more aromantic" can appeal to tumblr's sensibilities but I genuinely think everyone should also get more asexual. I don't mean everyone stop having sex, what I mean is
Sex is not essential. You can live without it. Full stop.
Not having sex isn't shameful or a sign of failure. It also doesn't make anyone boring.
You are not entitled to having sex with anybody and nobody is entitled to having sex with you.
Sex is not what makes someone an adult.
Nobody's worth is defined by how much sex they have or don't have.
Sex is not equally important to everyone.
You can have fulfilling and happy relationships without sex.
You should only have sex on your own terms, not because you feel like you owe it to someone, or because you feel like you'd be incomplete without it.
Know your boundaries around sex and be firm about them. Know how to respect other people's boundaries.
The previous point also applies when it comes to discussing sex. If someone doesn't wanna talk about it or hear about it you have to back down.
Anything can be sexual but not everything has to be sexual.
Firmly convinced the world would be a better place if we started treating sex the way we'd treat any other mundane preference in life, like what kind of chips a person likes to eat with their lunch.
Everyone's convinced all the time they're the only person on earth not having sex and that it needs to be hidden at all cost. In my experience, so many adults around me are not having sex either by choice or by situation, some have never had sex, some will never have sex (again), some are content about it some are annoyed about it some literally don't think at all about it but it's literally so common. So many of my friends (mid to late twenties) have never had sex. I spent a period of a year or two not having sex and it was fine. On a (fantastic) podcast (highly recommend if you understand french, "vivre sans sexualité" 4eps on LSD by France Culture) I heard a couple therapist estimate that about two thirds of adult coupls sleep together once every few months or less, which is an insane number but I actually wouldn't be surprised if true. People on average are having so much less sex than you'd think and it's literally fine and everyone needs to get so much more chill and asexual about it
